So, let me get this clear in my own mind: clones are what can be created by using GenX (or GenX2)? I ask because I have both but don't understand the whole process of making V4 clothes fit G2F characters. Having said that, it is quite a while since I tried because my results were so poor.

Thanks... I have a ton of Generation 3 and 4 stuff I'd rather not lose completely, particularly when moving to G3F
Of more interest to the thread at large, Skyler, her hair and dress look nice when aged a bit (by dialing down Skyler's morphs). Had to tweak the dress and hair a bit to get around bewbies, but it went pretty well. Nicest part is that because Skyler is morphed much shorter than G3F, I can get characters shorter than is possible otherwise.
Skyler - and 'boy-Skyler'; she works pretty well as a young boy too, so a bit more flexibility until we get G3M:-)
The girl's wearing the G3F Casual Summer clothes, and the boy is wearing a G2M outfit (Parkour Wear), both with alternate shaders.

I had just found that thread after asking my questions earlier and it will take some time to assimilate all that information. There are a lot of terms I'm not yet familiar with which is why I'm having trouble grasping the big picture.
In short, the Skyler clothes have fit morphs built-in which ensures that those clothing items will fit naturally to the Skyler shape. So the question I still need to resolve in my own mind is how to add such fit morphs to other clothing so that they don't need to rely on autofit? I'm not necessarily talking about other generation clothing - just G2F based clothing at the moment. What I usually do is allow autofit to do its thing then take it into Blender, tweak it and smooth out the crumpled polygons.
She really is a cute character.
G3F clothes I made on Skyler. Will have to try some of the others later.
Nicely done - we didn't try her out as a boy, but she works quite well!
Nicely done - we didn't try her out as a boy, but she works quite well!Agreed, tho I'm not that much surprised. It dose come down to Hormones, growth, and such. Any species that has a gender difference, the younger you go, the less distinguishable the gender by extremities alone (jaw shape, body size, horns, color of feathers, etc).

Clones are basically morphs saved with special properties. I'm not sure exactly how autofit was implemented, but the way I see it, autofit considers the original clothing object as made for that morph, so it "reverses" that shape in order to create a version of the object which would fit your target figure (kinda like you can "extract" current morphs when you load a new morph with morph loader).
Then that object is rigged to fit the target figure using the projection templates (which are basically "typical rigging for this kind of clothes").

Here I already started a render using that outfit and tex for the top. I'm not sure which one you used for the shorts, but it looks lighter than the one I went for.
Thus the pose I used for this render :P
Not that I can get Iray to work on indoor scenes with older lights... Renders always come out black.
On the subject of your outfits, can I beg for an update for the Doctor's Coat? Refitting it for G3F didn't go as well as I'd hoped.
Simple rule for lights. "Intensity" is for 3delight, and "Lumen" is for Iray. If a light dose not have a Lumen control, it is not going to work in Iray.
That would do it. So I need to check my light kits and see which ones have that setting.
Given the average age of my collection, I'm betting not many...
That's why I haven't got an Iray test chamber yet, adjusting the lights is very tedious, and I just want to have fun.
(first 3delight test render in progress, looking for poke-threw and whatnot... I forgot to pose that hand kind of stuff. Just waiting. t.b.c.)
I really love your characters and this one is absolutely stunning!
This is so true. I use autofit a lot and what you said about smoothing is true but I prefer to send the item to a modeller and create a fix morph just to tidy up any issues. Generally they are minor but I think it tends to look and work better that way.
Any chance of AikoToon being remade? THAT was a good 3D toon and there have been few since.

There's always a chance...
That's more than I've gotten from any other PA when I ask about old content being remade, so thank you. :)
:-) Part of the reason we've created our own clone shapes for G3F all the way back to Aiko 3 was so we could relook at some of our older items, including figure morphs on Genesis 3...

Thanks for that useful link. I have learned something today.
iirc AprilYSH mentioned recently that PA's have been asked to no longer use the 3Delight logo for their promos. So from what I understand it's not so much a trend as store policy.
There's a lot, I believe, that should be said about that, but I don't think I am capable of expressing it in way that will not get the post deleted :D
Regarding the differences between 3delight and Iray, Iray blows 3delight right out of the water as far as we're concerned. Here's a comparison render between the two rendering engines (we could have left the Iray render going longer, but were short on time).
This is using the Genesis 2 version of Skyler, though renders of the Genesis 3 version would be the same...
You don't say!
And I guess Iray didn't face-plant for an hour and fourteen minutes, before continuing the render. Otherwise I would bother fixing the hair, and the sneakers threw the pants, lol.
Left, Skyler G3F with Xylia Hair auto-fitted.
In the middle of the tug-of-war is G3F (and the stuff she came with).
right is Skyler G3F with Skyler hair. Pants from G3F's closet (old and torn at the ankles, lol)
(EDIT)
G3F is realy rough on High-heel boots, lol
Honestly, I rather like the results from Iray, but getting her to cooperate has been a major pain in the backside since we were introduced.
It was bad enough getting used to 3Delight after nearly a decade of Firefly.
We don't talk about what it took for Firefly.
A big part of getting good results in Iray is finding a decent HDR map to use to light your scene.
Thank you very much Steve for a very beautiful character, clothes and hair! :D x 2
Just got both bundles and double checked the zip files and all the textures are there for me.
G3F version:
Textures Include:
24 Texture, Bump, Transparency and Specular Maps (512 x 512 to 4096 x 4096)
G2F Version:
Textures
23 Texture, Bump, Reflection and Transparency Maps (256 x 256 to 4096 x 4096)
Not sure why DS isn't seeing the textures, they are definitely included.
Regarding Poser - although the figure would probably work, we no longer support Poser and don't include .PCFs or Poser specific material settings with our products.
Thank you for your feedback, it's very much appreciated!

You're welcome Steve! :)
That comparison shot was exactly what I needed! Thank you so much! Confirms to me she really will look that great in 3Delight renders. :)
Until I can afford the many Iray-specific shader sets I'll need, I'm having to stay with 3Delight (and in the case of certain effects, like a few of Marshian's, 3Delight really is the only usable option)
