BTW, can't you just take a preset skin material you like and apply those settings while leaving the textures in place? If you ctrl click a material preset there is a dialog that lets you choose to ignore textures. So the other settings in the material come over but you can keep the textures as they are.
This way that skin won't go to waste if you don't like working your own materials.
What would really be awesome is to have a morph converter as long as it was 100 percent accurate........Hey a guy can dream can't he......lol
You can cover morphs over fine. What do you mean somathat?

If you get something you like for the 7th gen figures, you can easily apply that to a character has the V7 textures.
But going from G2F to G3F doesn't seem to bad. I just tried applying the preset from G2 to G3. It would require a little bit of manual clean up, to correct some of the zones. but it does give you a good start.
So far the only skin that the preset did not apply to is the arms. which wouldn't be very time consuming or hard to manual do. You would just use the settings from the torso. You could even copy past from the torso, the just update the textures. Which ever is faster.
heck I even tried going from G3F down to G2F, and that is where more time would be needed since G2 has more skin zones. But even then the material presets can be used IMO.
Even doing that with gen6 to gen6 figures, I sometimes get white pupils (If not the entire eye), lol.
You're correct, the arms are completely different zone names.
I updated my post.
ah after some testing, it's inconsistent. I didn't have any issues with the eyes yet but I see different mat presets are behaving different. so yeah, would require some work.
I was just dealing with similar with a bar stool mat, lol. One letter lower case (leg instead of Leg), and that part will not take the mats, lol
As for my attempt with the G3F altShader mats. (The hair test was with the original shader)

Thanks. I'll try that. I tend not to like to mess with settings too much
Seems like the easiest thing will be to find a material preset you like from the same generation..so you still might have to wait a bit. But at least if you ever find one you do like, you will be able to go back update V7 with it. Then you could save it as a new preset for the future :)
So is it possible to use g2f morphs on g3f larsmidnatt? If so how is it done?-Thanks
It's already been mentioned that there are HD morph dials. I don't know where they are, I haven't looked.
It's already been mentioned that there are HD morph dials. I don't know where they are, I haven't looked. There is no special dial for it. V7 is HD and sculpted at SubD level 4. This is wrong see below.
(Though loading V7 will set the rendertime Sub-D to either 2 or 3, depending on if you load it onto G3F or if you load it clean. It isn't set to 4, due to concerns about overtaxing system resources.)
Edit. OOps. My mistake. I passed some bad information. There will be an HD pack for V7, there is no HD shipped with V7.
Sorry about that.
Another one : )
How do you go about doing this? I'm very computer illiterate!
Looking good :)
Oh, I thought someone mentioned that there were actual dials that one could turn off the HD aspects of the morph(s)

Edit/preferences
Click on the content library tab.
Click on Content Library Manager
They changed the next bit so I had to work this out...
Click on the Daz Studio Formats in the tree...this will get the add button to work.
Then select the folder you want to use.
Same process for the Poser Formats.
Thanks for this info. This is the kind of stuff that's very useful. Now I need to redo my tests :) I was only use sub-d 3.
OK, redid some tests. 4 does help a lot. going to do more tinkering.
I need some help guys.
Here is Lilith HD morph at sub-d 1 and sub-d 3. You can see very easily in the collarbone and shoulders the HD details.(you may notice i did not dial Lilith in, cause she would distract you all ;) )
With V7, I tried sub-d 1 all the way up to sub-d4. There are no new details.
Are there particular areas where I can seen HD details with Victoria in her body? I'm not seeing any.

OK, redid some tests. 4 does help a lot. going to do more tinkering.turn off the HD aspects of the morph(s), was a way with some figures, to make spot-renders quicker (less face-plant time), when setting up scenes, dealing with clothing poke-threw, or nasty shadows on the face. Using a less system-taxing shader is another way.
Then when it is all set up, the nasty shadows are gone, and the TOS violating Poke-threw has been fixed, then throw on the Mega-shader and level-2 (or higher) HD details.
2 or 3? 3 loaded from scratch, 2 when dialed onto G3F manually, because G3F is by default at 2 when loaded? As for taxing a system, I do sometimes exclaim, What dose that PA have for a computer, this is slow as (many words), lol.
OK , Ive had V7 for a couple of days now and have to say I'm sold:))))-Thank you guys and girls at Daz........well done:)))
Now I know something funny is going on at the store. This was not there yesterday when I was looking for G3F morph sets.
http://www.daz3d.com/da-hd-elf-ears-for-genesis-3-female-s
Last week, I thought I had noticed a few more G2F figures a page before V7 (that I promptly put in my wishlist), and just assumed I had just not noticed them before that. My memory must realy be bad, and I must be going blind when looking for stuff, lol
(EDIT)
Dials! Real dials, thank you DesignAnvil.
I saw that one not long after I first started looking. But when I first looked under genesis 3/all I saw a lot of things were missing in the store that I'd seen. Not sure what's happening there...
I saw that one not long after I first started looking. But when I first looked under genesis 3/all I saw a lot of things were missing in the store that I'd seen. Not sure what's happening there... Well, I assume there is a database of sorts, that things must be added to for that 'Filter' thing to work. Tho when asked for morph sets, I realy did look, and must have missed it (Both times I sifted threw the unfiltered store page).
It probably wasn't — I've noticed the order of stuff on the main store page (and whether new items actually appear right at the top) can vary depending on whether or not you're logged in, whether you've force-refreshed your browser since logging in, and for all I know the phase of the moon... :-S
I did a test too, to see if I got the same results because I wasn't noticing any HD detail in V7's body. I just used a plastic shader here, so no normal maps on the skin. Sub 1 is on the left, Sub 4 on the right.
At first glance it looks like sub 1 and sub 4 give identical results. If I flip back and forth between the sub 1 and sub 4 face and body renders quickly on my computer, they are only veeeery subtly different, though it looks like that is mostly due to sub 4 being naturally smoother. So the body and face don't appear to have any HD details sculpted in unless you dial up some of the HD face morphs like Crows Feet HD.
On the teeth though, the difference is immediately noticeable. (check out the molars) I have the Mouth Realism HD morph at 100%, as is the default for V7.
So then finally I dialed up ALL of the face shape HD morphs to 100% (not all the HD expressions though), and yeah there is a lot of new face detail there at Sub 4. I particularly like the Crows Feet HD.
The teeth and face morphs look really, really great with HD detail. Whatever the resolution the body was sculpted at, the body doesn't appear to have any sculpted detail beyond sub 1 at the moment (V7 normal maps don't count!) but I'm sure some V7 HD product will be released eventually with HD body morphs.
I think the "Mouth Realism" HD morph is set on by default by a mistake... It may cause issues when making morphs if it isn't Off, since its on by default, its grey and not easily spotted, I'm not sure if should send a ticket on it. That is unless when switching to base resolution tells it to completely ignore the shaping it makes to teeth angles and alignments
Agreed. A face/belly morph made with these on, will just amplify the effect, and not necessarily with a pleasing result.
Seconded...er thirded. I noticed this as well.
thanks for sharing the results. You can certainly see the difference in the teeth.
