If you mean this one It's called "Road Predator" I have a stand alone whip and poses also. But Daz is sitting on it, so don't know when it'd going to be released. More shots in the gallery.
So cool! Will certainly buy this.
I wished that in the Pro content that it had the Cake One Attitude poses as they don't look wooden or have impossible human bends. maybe for V8 Pro DAZ could make a grab bag selection. Just a thought.
All in all thought I look forward to V7 and will spent much of my time and money on her!

YES!!! omg that will be an instabuy for me. :-) I'm a sucker for the "bodysuit" thing - your Sky Chaser is my all time favourite sci fi Genesis outfit....with Eliminator my second all time fave for Genesis 2. (Arcadia Rising is fabulous looking and I drool every time I see it; it's on my wishlist for the moment)
Thanks it's wonderful to get some postive feedback, you've made my day :)
I'm actually kind of excited by the release of Victoria 7. However, I probably won't be buying her any time soon. We've reached the point of diminishing returns with each new generation released. I don't see any great difference between this new figure and her predecessors. Not enough to make me want to buy her at full price, anyway.
So I tend to ignore the marketing ad copy blurbs "New and Improved!" "Now With Better Bends!" "Even More Polygons in the Face and Jaw!" "The Most Realistic Figure EVER!!!!" Yeah, right. Same ad copy they had for Genesis 2. And despite all that, we still got "Beautiful Bends" and all the other tweaks and fixes to the G2 mesh. I remember at the time being baffled. "If this figure is SO WONDERFUL, then why do we need all these "fixes" for it?" Oh, I know why! It's marketing.
It doesn't mean I have to buy into it, however. And I haven't. By and large, I sat Generation 6 out. The Gen6 skimpware that was released is remarkably similar to the Gen4/5 skimpware that I already own...and I never felt that I was missing out.
So why am I excited by the release of Victoria 7? Because now all that Generation 6 skimpware, and all those pale European lovelies (oh, yeah, and the 2 guys that I think they also released) will be on sale at heavily discounted prices. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that in any disparaging way -- I *like* skimpware, and I enjoy rendering pale northern European beauties in barely there clothing, so the Daz store really is my playground.
So in closing, I say Thank You Daz! Victoria (6) is Dead! Long Live Victoria (7)!
On reading your post I totally agree about V7, and feel the same. I guess female renders make up 2% of all my renders so far  BUT, I have been playing with the Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials pack, and I am very impressed. I have been comparing G2F alongside G3F with regards to movement and morphs and there is a very noticeable difference. So much so, that like you, I will purchase V7.
I also hope the G3 male is equally as impressive when he arrives.
There are a lot of strong views on the forums at the moment about the introduction of G3 in general, and I remember feeling the same as a new 3d artist, a couple of years ago, buying up loads of Genesis 1 content to suddenly find G2 was announced. I was determined not to buy G2 but at the same time wanted my G1 figures to have the benefits of the new G2 morphs etc, and eventually I did purchase and use G2 and have never looked back.
Like some others have said, my first reaction to the G3 announcement was..'Oh no, I am not going through all that purchasing thing again and expense for another new Genesis model" but I am sure I will want my new characters to have all the latest 'bells and whistles' and I still have a great runtime full of past characters and clothing I can still use on their respective base models, although I do realise that not everything I have will now work on the new G3 base, but I am cool with that.
I must also congratulate DAZ (and any PA's involved with the content) for all the items they packaged for the Genesis 3 Female Starter Essentials pack....and all for FREE. There was so much to play with, and definitely helped convince me to purchase V7.
Hope DAZ does the same for the G3M Starter Essentials Pack, and we don't have to wait too long for M7's arrival. ;-P
Cheers.
:-)
Well, I'm still firmly in the G1 group, and don't expect that to change anytime soon, for a number of reasons. But the biggest one is I don't see a need for it, as G1 fits my needs perfectly. With GenX, I also can squeeze some M4/V4 and the G2 clothing clone, I pretty much have clothing and morphs covered for a long while. Hopefully when I'm ready to move up, there will be a way to transfer the morphs and clothing... (or at least the clothing), but that day is still far away.
Wow, that was a bit harsh. And, regardless of your opinions, I guarantee **DAZ** would like Smith Micro to offer support for Genesis-type figures in Poser. Remember -- DAZ makes no money off DAZ Studio, only on content. Ergo, if Poser supported newer figures, Poser users would buy items for them and DAZ would make more money. It's cute how ferociously people defend their software program of choice, but the bottom line is, the hobbyist marketplace would probably be more lucrative for everyone if there was more cross-compatibility between Poser and DS again. Poser doesn't sell content, DAZ doesn't sell software. It's kind of a no-brainer. My guess, were I to make one, is that SM is trying to change the Poser target audience from the traditional NVIATWAS hobby-level artist to a game- or animation-driven market. And that makes me sad.
In any event, why pick just one? It's far more fun to play with BOTH toys!! :)
What gets me is the flurry of new G2 characters and then BAM G3F. Heck, I was still waiting for a sale for Micheal 6. Guess I'll wait a little longer. And like others said, Rendo was just getting fully into G2F. But then maybe this is another reason why they switched. Not THE reason by any means, but just another incentive to release it. I think this was released early. It was so badly managed, I can't think of a worse rollout.
Now, I have a few questions for the community. I'm a programmer and wondering if some of the following are some things that are needed.
1. Do you need reprojections of G2F textures maps between UV sets?
There are two ways to map textures. The first is what we have where you switch the UV map for the figure. The second is reprojecting the texture onto the new UV map. For example, you take a G6 texture image and create a new one that works with A6 UV's. Not sure how good the results would be, but this should be fairly easy for me to do. Unfortunately, I have like zero free time. But I may find some if people would like to have this. And since we have V4 UV's in G2F, I could probably add one for converting between all G2F UV's including V4. Is this useful?
The only advantage I see is being able to mix V4 and G2F textures together. Or mix different textures for different G2F figures. When would you do this? LIE maybe?
2. I'd have to look at UDIM and see why it's not backward compatible. If it's just tiling textures, it can be converted. Perhaps they're talking about the old way of doing things and providing new UV maps. That won't be doable. But a tool could likely reproject everything into a single G2 map for each diffuse, bump, etc. texture. Quality may suffer, but if they're higher res anyways, should be good enough. Could probably go the other way too.
I'm guessing this would be useful. I'd want it myself. Not sure if I have time to look into this though. It'd be a fair amount of work.
3. Reprojecting morphs between generations.
This could be done, but I'd need to map vertices between figures. Ironically, I may be able to reverse engineer this from the UV maps. Even the G3F ones if I could do #2. Seems like a long shot.
4. Not a question. I'm just worried about shoes. We were just getting some good quality products. And now G3F. I hope there'll be better handling of resizing and morphing for shoes. Heck, I'd be happy just being able to project the weight maps without having to go to the default pose. Maybe I missed how to do that. If we could do that, then with #3, we could apply V4 shoe morphs and then auto-fit the shoes.
Anyways, I'll see if I can't do the G2F texture reprojection at the very least. I already have code that can read Lightwave models and UV's. So I'll export the UV's and see if I can convert some textures.
I will point out that there is no problem with Poser adding dual quaternion skinning
Poser devs added weight mapping but made up their own system. They could move to this "industry standard" not because of Genesis 3 but for Poser's own sake. :)

Yes. Exactly.

Not V7 topic anymore so we might get kicked out of here but gonna try to squeeze this in anyway:

Their weight map system can't be too far from this "dual quaternion skinning" as it is, it was able to accept (even via dson importer) the triax system. It seems to me the "industry standard" dual quaternion skinning is SIMPLER than the triax system. I'm kinda hopeful at the thought. I started in Poser and still support it when feasible. So go for it SM!! I hope Nerd is reading this :)

Me too! *frantically waves at the possible Nerd lurking in a corner.* And, er, it sure would be nice to see VICTORIA 7 in Poser... (so, almost on-topic!) Thanks for that link, btw. If nothing else, it does illustrate how the advancing technology pushes the market forward. And that IS on-topic, because it answers the "But, why a new figure?" question.
Yes. Exactly.

I think they are more than capable in doing it, and charles would want to do it for shore. But do MicroSmith want to do it, that is the question. They have geared up for the game industry with more than one of their apps so we shall see !
V7 Head 50%, Plus random stuff.
V7 is all about realism, so I decided to mutate her into a toon. And I used Octane render too, cause I'm hard headed like that.
Had to make her a quick swimsuit though, since I don't have V7 clothes yet and refused to autofit too much. (hat, hair and necklace are legacy)
V7 will be fantastic for realistic stuff, the new improvements are amazing. Truth is for most casuals, these benefits will likely harm their work if they haven't taken the time to control their output some...that valley is much easier to hit now...
But the facial expression improvements are pretty huge.(not demonstrated here with a toon obviously...)
Forgot to say...MallenLane's Hitomi shall live forever...the character below is probably 50% Hitomi :)
Wow nice pic, the shape converted over nicely
Thanks. I had to fiddle with the eyes a little bit, the rest worked fine with the automatic "adjust to shape" command.
Can someone tell me how to get Genesis 3 exported properly out of Studio so I can make clean UV templates? I either get only the Head template or an odd arrangement that isn't anything like how they're supposed to be.
Thanks in advance.
Snow, there should be a check box at export for "collapse UV tiles" or similar. You want that one checked.
V7 already...wow...
Thanks. I had to fiddle with the eyes a little bit, the rest worked fine with the automatic "adjust to shape" command.
How did you get Hitomi onto G3F?
Well, I decided to jump in the G3F and V7 pool. I also got all the morphs, although like others I wish they had a bundle option. Still, the morphs are pretty much a requirement if I am going to use G3F at all. V7 is a different situation. I bought it since I got a decent discount on it. I was able to stay away from the temptation of the Starter or Pro bundles. The prices were a bit steep.
My first attempt with G3F and V7 was trying to put them in a scene together and mirror a pose on 'em. When I tried to render them the first time, Daz Studio crashed. Not a great start.
My second attempt, I saved it after finishing the posing, which I should have done the first time, and it rendered without crashing. My 3Delight render test took 57 seconds. Not too shabby. Unfortunately, Victoria looks more like the walking dead. This was my first clue that her skins weren't going to be 3Delight compatible. This could be an issue. G3F initially looks good, but compared to her Iray render, she's way off in skin color.
After that, I decided to attempt an Iray render. This is problematic for me even though I have a nVidia graphics card. My MacBook Pro from 2012 has a 650m. Not the greatest graphics chip, but I'm able to do pretty much everything I want with it. Unfortunately, there is absolutely zero render benefits from it in Iray. It renders in the same amount of time whether I use the GPU or not as part of the rendering.
So, how long to render the same 57 second 3Delight image in the Iray? 24 minutes and 54 seconds. Ouch.
On the plus side, Victoria no longer looks like the undead. G3F's texture works in both, but looks better in Iray. In fact, I think I like her texture coloring better than Victoria's, but that might just be personal preference, not a technical one. I did notice that the boy shorts that come with V7 looks better on G3F than Vicky. There's some distortion on the hips on Vicky that aren't present on G3F.
As for the G3F model, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm not looking forward to waiting on clothes as most of my stuff is V4 and G1 related. I'm still in the G1 crowd as it gives me the most flexibility and i really don't need a ton of closeups. Still, the bends in G3F look amazing and a lot more natural.
At this point, I'd probably say I have a tad bit of buyer's remorse on V7. G3F is sufficient really. Most of the characters I use are customized and I'll need to find a way to convert my old models to G3F. Not looking forward to that. It also appears I'll need to convert a ton of my old clothing to G2F so I can use them on G3F. Another time consuming effort.
How did my hobby become so expensive in time and money? Thank goodness I don't have to pay for software. That's the main reason I stopped using Poser. I couldn't afford both.
I've included an image of my 3Delight and Iray renders for those not familiar with the texture issue. My next concern is that Daz Studio v5 will drop 3Delight. I hope they don't. The render times will kill me.
Hitomi? Hitomi?? Did somebody say Hitomi???
That is like the only word that would get me excited for any of this: Hitomi. Forever.
:)
Wow, the morphs don't even come with the "pro" bundle?
I picked up a few Iray figures (G2F) this month, and they all look like that in 3delight, without going and putting the specific 3delight shaders on them. The other thing is that some figures have a horrid 'Face plant' time in 3delight, that Iray dose not exhibit, That may easily explain that extra twenty minutes with your 3delight render.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/785461/
noticed that too!
Nah she has 3Delight materials. Which is what I used as a base for my Octane texutres/Materials. The iRay ones aren't a good starting point for me at all, but the 3Delight ones work as a good starting point. What! Where? That was the show-stopper for me, the lack of 3delight shaders.
just don't ask me to preview them for you I dont use delight myself. but they are there.
just another basic test render of the genesis 3 female from genesis 3 essentials this time wearing g2 stuff Lofn Bundle and Succubus Add-Ons mostly with the Succubus I did the little trick I do with a lot of stuff that's made for a different figure generation in this case gen2 loaded a gen 2 female attatched the parts made her invisible then moved resized and lined her up to gen 3 then parented the gen 2 female to gen 3 you do it this way so you can still pose the different parts as well as no weird distortion works most of the time done it few times using v4 creatures/body parts on v6
They can't add that. Nvidia made a nice unbiased, accelerated renderer, so all DAZ had to do was "hook it up" (not as easy as it sounds, but a lot easier than writing a renderer of their own). Nvidia, for obvious reasons, wrote it to their CUDA GPU API. No one bothered to do this for ATI/AMD's OpenCL GPU API, so ATI/AMD users are sort of SOL unless they want to fork over big money for Octane (who has recently announced OpenCL support) or screw around with LuxRender (who has had OpenCL coming "real soon now" for the last 2-3 years).
OpenCL for Lux was bad stuff last time I tried.
And for some reason i think Octane put some parameters around what they would do with OpenCL.
"OpenCL support: OctaneRender 3 will support the broadest range of processors possible using OpenCL to run on Intel CPUs with support for out-of-core geometry, OpenCL FPGAs and ASICs, and AMD GPUs."
I dunno I'm just an art guy, but for some reason that isn't as clear as "runs on AMD the same way it does on CUDA". Might be the art side of my brain.
