Well, dang. I thought I had cleared all those errant polygons for the hatch. Solve one problem, create another. Guess I know what I'm doing tonight. I'll check to see if there are missing files for 18 and 73.

@murgatroyd314, are you sure you have the licence plate selected in the scene tab? It should be parented to the hatch bone (rear) or the body bone (front)

Yes, I have the license plate selected. If I try without the plate selected, it gives the "You must select the GCJ Zirael Flyte License Plate to perform this action" error.

If I try running the script from within the Script IDE pane, it provides the following error information:

    QFileInfo::absolutePath: Constructed with empty filename
/src/sdksource/general/dzcontentmgr.cpp(5244): Empty path passed to DzContentMgr::findBaseDirectory()
    Script Error: Line 90
TypeError: Result of expression 'sDirbase' [null] is not an object.
    Stack Trace: ()@:90

The fact that I'm on a Mac (Intel) may be relevant.

How did you install the product? That might also be relevant. I installed with DIM, and it works correctly for me. Did you install from within Daz Studio (Daz Connect)? Many scripts fail when installed with Daz Connect. I don't know whether this is one of those that fail.

  • Installed with DIM. I've never used Connect or Central.

Good. I think that is the best policy. That eliminates Connect as the source of the problem. It may be a Mac thing, but it would be good for another Mac user to chime in and verify whether it works for them.

Hmm. I don't have a mac so this will be tricky one to sort out. I'll ask one or two of the PA's who are more experienced with the API if they can suggest why the code is failing for you on a mac.

@murgatroyd314 Are you able to succesfully use the scripts to set the clock or the outside temperature on the dash? Those scripts use the exact same function.

Ok, after checking, running the script from within the ide gives that error message because the scene context is wrong when it's run from the script ide without running it from the content library first. If you first exceute the script from the content library while the license plate is selected, then execute it again from the script ide, it should not produce that particular error. However, I have confirmed the issue with a friend who uses a mac, and we've tested a fix which should resolve the problem.I'll inlcude that in a product update hopefully this week. This will likely also impact the scripts for modifying the dash controls. These will be updated too

@gcjellyfish   I bought the Zirael Flyte as soon as it came out, but even if I had been on the fence, I would have definitely come back and gotten it if for no other reason than to support this TOP NOTCH vendor!

gcjellyfish - I salute you and your excellent attention to detail, and your outstanding customer service!  You are a shining example all other vendors should follow.

I have a few other cars but I just had to get this one. The attention to detail and all the options provided make it a big step up.

In the past I've done some renderings with a car's hood open (eg. two characters bonding over their shared interest in cars) but always had to be very careful with camera angles since the engine compartment wasn't nearly as well detailed. This hatchback solves that problem!

Now I think it's time to make some faux-Subaru adverts smiley probably camping in the great outdoors or getting a kayak ready for some whitewater rafting.

Sorry barbult that was not directed at you.

    I should have said

Hi. Thanks for the nice comments. I had no idea anyone would care about the underside of the car. :D Well, it wasn't intended for being visible at least. It's not a flat planar surface, but there's no transmission or drive shaft. I'll keep that in mind should I do another vehicle.

I guess the underside of cars will be often be shown when doing renders of a car workshop with the car being placed one of those thingies that allow the mechanics working on the underside of the car. So for most parts people shouldn't need too much detail for some parts. And you already delivered more than what the average PA would give us.

If you want to make something that probably might sell, you should think about making a tow truck/recovery vehicle, because there's car workshops and tons of different cars, trucks and whatevers, but not a single tow truck to connect the two... and there have been people asking about one for their "car broke down and gets towed to the car workshop" or "parking in the wrong place and getting your car towed off" renders.

I think this car more or less set a standard for what could be considered a feature-complete car model with extras.

    • Doors, hatch and hood open and close (Should be expected with about any car model except low-poly scene fillers)
    • Wheels spin (Should be expected with about any car model except low-poly scene fillers, though it would definitely make a scene look better for those, even if it's just a texture giving the impression that they spin)
    • Customizablel licenseplate (A very welcome extra, the least I'd expect from a car would be the licenseplate on a seperate materialzone, this is well beyond that)
    • Detailed interior (Should be expected with about any car model except low-poly scene fillers)
    • Detailed engine (This I consider a very welcome extra, I don't want to look under the hood of every car, but occasionally, I do, so I'm very glad whenever a car has that option. Except for the low-poly scene fillers, a low detail engine consisting of mostly an enginecover and just a few wires and pipes should be a minimum though.)
    • Windows open/close (Should be expected with about any car model except low-poly scene fillers, sadly, this is a very rare feature on car models, so I hope this car sets a new standard)
    • Lights independently operatable(Should be expected with about any car model except low-poly scene fillers, which could get away with just head and tail lights and maybe indicators and breaklights)
    • Modeled bottom cover/floor. (I'd consider this a minimum. Some carbrands do this, others leave the drivetrain visible and open to dirt. But, it's already way better than just a flat plane.)

And that's just the things I'd think should be standard, to give a good impression of the car in operation during commonly rendered circumstances. This car still has extras on top of that.

  • Heh-heh, nice custom license plate in your render Barbult. laugh

  • I can confirm that the plate script now works on Mac after the update.

  • Glad to hear the update has tidied up those last issues, and thanks for confirming that it works on mac now. I had a friend with a mac test it for me, but it's reassuring to know all the same since I don;t own a mac for testing purposes. I want to give a shout out to the DAZ QA team who are incredibly busy right now, and still processed two file updates so quickly. Thanks to them, and thanks for the various bug reports on this thread. I want my products to work as well as I can achieve.

Attention to detail, thoroughness, and diligence are spiritual traits that are very rare. Possessing all three, you are guaranteed success, gcjellyfish. We'll buy them as fast as you make them.

+1. I'm three for three and expect to buy any and all releases on day one.

I bought this vehicle because looking at the details in the promos. I love it! The details far beyond any vehicle I have in my runtimes!!! I love the materials to make the vehicle dirty as real car. I only have one issue and its minor and most likely not important to others. But the accelerator and brake pedals are too high up on the firewall. The figures can't reach them well. But as I said it's a minor detail that only affects me. I just hid the two pedals and imported pedals from another vehicle and used the joint editor to give them the proper rotation. But I do love this vehicle especially in close up interior shots.
