Zirael Flyte Hatchback Car - Underside?
in The Commons
Hi there, has anyone already bought todays new Zirael Flyte Hatchback Family Car by GCJellyfish? I like all that is listed on the product page, but since I sometimes do run down-, apocalyptic- or disaster-themed scenes, I'd like to know whether the car has an underside as well, so it can also serve for instance as a tipped-over wreck in the background. The underside doesn't need to be super-detailed, just better than the totally flat surface many other cars have.

Comments
It is not only flat on the underside. Here are some quick renders. I think the model is just awesome!
Wow, that is one heck of a detailed engine compartment. Looks great!
Great, thanks! That's a buy!
Yes, this artist did a fantasitic job paying attention to the details. I hope GCJellyfish makes more. It is very hard to find car models with good instrument panels and center consoles. I make a lot of scenes from the driver's point of view, and this is where the few other car models fall short. This one has so many options to customize the instrument panel and center console...very impressive!
I came to make a thread about this car and GCJellyfish's attention to details and description. Thanks for saving me the trouble, arne207! I'd wanted know if I could use the customizable license tag on other vehicles. I read the Description, not expecting any mention of it---because this is Daz. But I was pleasantly surprised.
I was thinking this was a good first release for a vendor---then I see GCJellyfish also did the fabulous Dirty Dishes series! And rigged seatbelts?! GTFOH! I bought a partially rigged car shoulder belt from TurboSquid or CGTrader so I could have realism. I wonder if GCJellyfish gave us a rigged shoulder belt? Great job, GCJellyfish! Into the cart it goes!
Does it have seatbelts? I always miss them in 3d Cars :(
From the product description: "There are seatbelts provided: static unworn variants that can be swapped out for rigged seat belts when they need to be worn. Also included are some basic positioning pose presets for Genesis 8 Male and Genesis 8 Female to make it easy to position the figures quickly so you can quickly work on fine-tuning your own poses."
Oh this is cool! Escpecially for family scenes, I hate that I can never use seatbelts :< I also have a child seat prop.
Loony, may I ask where you got the child seat prop?
a very simple free one:

or for very less money also simple:

I modified it a bit to look better, removed the drink holders or whatever that is^^. And you have to add the textures manually, but thats easy ;) Just go to surfaces and add them :)

This looks also nice, 4$ more.
Hi. Thanks for the nice comments. I had no idea anyone would care about the underside of the car. :D Well, it wasn't intended for being visible at least. It's not a flat planar surface, but there's no transmission or drive shaft. I'll keep that in mind should I do another vehicle.
We need more "casual" cars, the store got too much Luxery props, Villas, sport cars and living rooms from designers. We need more "normal life" stuff :)
I agree! There are very few cars, and the few you can find are already out of date models. I only have three cars, and now four including Flyte, that are detailed enough from the inside to make a driver/passenger point of view looking out. Flyte is on top of that list, no doubt.
That anyone would be me :)
The underside thing is something that has bugged me in other vehicles since (of course) no one puts out screenshots of it, and having just a flat black surface makes the thing a little less usable.
Even more important for me and I suppose others as well, though, is at least the pretense of suspension. You can't make an image of a car speeding around a corner if you can't raise or lower the wheels. I bought the Zirael today also because it has that. I don't understand why many other cars on DAZ have the option to spin the wheels (What for? Animations?) but not move them up or down.
My favorite vehicles even have a working suspension (as well as a detailed underside), such as the "MilitaryGP" and the 2CV-like "Teuf-Teuf", but I imagine that's a lot of work to set up.
It is a lot of work to model and rig the suspension, it's true. And sometimes you have to pick your battles as an asset maker. There are other things I wanted to do with it, but at some point you have to stop adding 'just opne mroe thing' and actually release it. This represents a lot of months of work for me given that I have a fulltime job and can only work on evenings and weekends. Add to that never heaving heard that request before and 99% of the time the underside is never visible.... you can see why it's soimething of a lower priority. But, I aspire to make my assets as functional as I can within my own limitations, and this is my first car release so it's always something of a learning curve as to what customers might want out of an asset like this. But, your request is heard loud and clear. Thanks for the feedback.
ALso to mention: a higher modeled underground does mean more polygons and maybe new shaders/textures for that region, so if you don't need that view, it will cost you just extra PC power and if you have a family car filled with 2 parents and maybe 2-3 kids in the back, your PC will have more as enough to do to render all :D
So I would make such a detailed underground as optional addon.
But what you could add is a trailer hitch/coupling, for addons :) So if you ever release a trailer it will be compatible with your car :)
definitely. That's why the engine is a separate object. I recommend hiding or deleting it from the scene if the hood is not up.
I added also another idea in my last comment :D
or maybe...
why not xD...
it seems like its a kind of tuner thing, that some peoples do O_O...
But with that "plug", you will be able to make future addons ;)
And I already thought it was awesome that the windows can open and close..
Thank you Loony for the links to the car seats.
Now that's a great license plate!
Is there a commercial thread for https://www.daz3d.com/zirael-flyte-hatchback-family-car ?
No, not that I'm aware of. I'm not the best at self promotion :)
Really impressive one, and one that fits a non-US scene just as good
@gcjellyfish I don't normally buy things on release, it's too expensive with our exchange rate but the Flyte was an instabuy with its plethora of options and its on the road normality. Not many people drive luxury cars and it's so nice to get one that an average person would buy. I also have both the Dirty Dishes products, also bought on release, and I'm so impressed with the thought and care that went into them. I have a feeling that your products are going to always be instabuys for me and to hell with the exchange rate
Wow, I thought this looked great as it was at a glance but knowing some of the details, this is a fantastic product.
Is it possible the seatbelts can be moved to a different vehicle? Are they a separate rigged object that could be detached?
I love it! Even though the biome here is UltraScenery "Britain" birch trees, it could easily be the US, too. I used US car settings (license and LHD). G8M is driving, but you can hardy see him at this angle. I've been waiting for gcjellyfish to come out with a new product after the wonderful Dirty Dishes products.
Photo!
@gcjellyfish something seems strange about the dirt layer. I am using the LHD version. I haven't checked RHD.
