Looking for a Cash Register

Doc AcmeDoc Acme Posts: 1,153

I'm trying to find a Cash Register prop that's not contemporary (as in not computerized), but not 1800's either. Pre 1960's or '70's; either war period would be nice.

For now I'm using one from the Western Saloon Props, looks nice but isn't quite right of course, but I'm not having much luck looking on the store.  I've tried searching with: register, cash, cash+register... Even a lot of the products that are stores don't have anything.

So, suggestions?

Odd.  My search there didn't take me into the free stuff.

But a coupe of those just might work.

Were you familiar with these prior, or you using a specific search technique?

Sloshwerk's prop bundle is currently on sale and includes several cash registers (including the Miranda parlor prop):

I have that product, but those aren't quite the period.

The free one above is actually a Poser item.  Nice shape but no textures per se.  I might be able to whang something out of it, but I'll keep looking. Similarly with the one from the Western Salloon Props.

    More along these lines.

Took a look at Turbosquid and they have a number of cash registers like your reference, from $5-$124, but Editorial Use only  indecision

They did have the one:  Old Antique Cash Register 3D model by MovART that has a Standard license, available in.OBJ format and comes with textures.  It's $14.99

May or may not help angel

BTW, did you need the cash register rigged to open and close? My hunch is that most props you do find, vintage or otherwise, will not have moving parts.

  • BTW, my biggest surprise during the store search is that Jack Tomalin's Moonshine's Diner series, which normally would be the go-to for this sort of thing, does not appear to include a cash register -- unless I went blind and totally missed it.

We have such places, no cash accepted, card or mobile pay only.

I have this but there's no cash register. Oops, there is but it's not right for my scene.

No, I don't particularly need it rigged.

I'll take a look.  Haven't ventured too far from Daz and Renderosity yet.

That's a nice one.  Will take a closer look at it.

    But Moonshine is 1950s style.

Ran into that in fact at a Dairy Queen of all places. Flustered the young 'Till 'Tendant that I wanted to pay with actual <GASP> Cash.  They could of couse, but none of their electroics are set up to give you read-out with cash, so you have to ask.

I'd have probably used the one from one of the RedHouse shops. It's fairly low-res, but if it's not the focal point of the scene...

    Got a link?

Nothing is set in stone. That's why I call it a WIP. ;)

Well, Here's the Sweet Shop. There were four of them altogether. The Christmas Shope the sewwt shop, the Magic Shope, and the Tavern. They're all old PC+ setd fromm before 2009.

    The Tavern

There is the Redhouse Christmas Carol and Christmas Carol Expansion listed, but neither of them list the till on the product page. The Sweet Shop does. The Tavern and Magic Shoppe are both texture sets with some additional props.

I spent 10 mins or so looking through the Redhouse links, but could NOT find a register pictured or listed.

The 60's diner is pretty much the one from 50's gas station it seems.

Yikes.  So that's what those were.

Nah, but thanx for the effort.
