Think I posted this twice in two wrong places. So here goes again....

I’m having trouble with the Out Of This World pack for Light Dome Pro 2.
I’m using Daz Studio 3.1 Advanced 64 bit on a PC.

LDP works fine but the additional options for Out Of This World (Poison, Magma, etc) do not appear. I’ve made sure the files from the zip file are in the proper path although I can’t tell where the .exe files were installed or if they’re the same files as the zip.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Just bought this and slowly learning.
    2 questions:
Will this work with IBL lighting? (which I don't fully understand yet but think could get results I want)
    and
What is the best way to create your own backgrounds for use with LDP-R?

    Thanks!

Vaguely necro post but this seems the place for it, just got both Lightdome Pro-r and Studio lights, spent some time getting them to work and finally figured it out and was getting wonderful results. Combining well in PS, then out of the blue it seems the combine action in PS stopped working, in the normal LDP-R action it will hit the final close command and ask me if I want to save before closing and no matter what I choose it ends there, with me left with a blank screen.(Just tried again I can cancel it and keep the image, it just is odd I did not need to do it before) In the LDP-R Night Combine action it will hit the close command just before the series of "Curves" commands, the one just before select Fog layer and hang, asking if I want to save. It was not doing this.

Trying now, I can cancel this, move forward to the fog layer, and continue the process by "Hitting play" again but I do not see a reason it should suddenly hang in both these spots when I did not change any settings that I know of. It is odd.

Could you please point me in the direction of "the Main thread" as I cannot seem to find it. Thanks!

-or were you speaking to the person above (double post) ?

If that is the case, the thread here is what, dead? No more support for LDP - R, official or otherwise?

Hello. I just purchased this product and I am have problems with the script in GIMP 2.8. I get the following error messages when I attempt to execute the combine scripts(both regular and the nighttime version):

    GIMP Message
    Calling error for procedure 'gimp-item-set-name':
Procedure 'gimp-item-set-name' has been called with value '-1' for argument 'item' (#1, type GimpItemID). This value is out of range.

    GIMP Message
    Execution error for 'LDP-R Combine':
Error: ( : 1) Procedure execution of gimp-item-set-name failed on invalid input arguments: Procedure 'gimp-item-set-name' has been called with value '-1' for argument 'item' (#1, type GimpItemID). This value is out of range.

    GIMP Message
Plug-In 'LDP-R Combine' left image undo in inconsistent state, closing open undo groups.

I'll also note that everything else scriptwise is working okay in GIMP, include Miami and Cold filter scripts.
    Could I get some assistance?

Okay, an update to my previous post. I have solved the problem.(Yay Me!) I'm going to leave the solution here for anyone else who may need help getting this to work in GIMP.

-Got to "Open as Layers..." ***DO NOT USE "Open..." OR THE SCRIPT WILL NOT WORK!!!***
-Then select all the files in your LDPR folder. Unlike Photoshop, it does not matter what order they open in. Click "Open".
-The files will dump in as layers in one work window. This differs from the photoshop method shown in the instructional video. In the video, all 12 layers are opened as seperate windows. GIMP requires the exact opposite.
    -Then go to Filters=>Dreamlight=>LDPR=>LDPR Combine
-The script will sort the layers properly.

I will update if I learn any other peculiarities.:coolhmm:

Hi recent LDPRO R buyer. I used to own LDPro in DAZ 3. it was great.
Seems great here too. Except that i'm having trouble with the intensity and ambient and sky light settings....They don't respond at all to whatever i set them too. THe light is always bright, even if i lower the intensity.

    What's going on?

In the video tutorial, the guy who rendered and image in DAZ didn't have this Bright light...he had smooth low light.
I tried the cloudy LIghtdome set and night light dome set and the light is still bright and doesn't respond to me lowering the ambient, sky, and sun lights.

I'm Mac user with DAZ 4.7

You shouldn't have to mess with the light settings at all. You take the final 7 rendered images into Photoshop or GIMP and play around with the layers there to create your final render.

You might want to post an image with the lighting issue.

Thank you for your advice. I found out what was wrong :) And now it's awesome.
Basically all i had to do is TUrn off the Preview lights. Cause when you add LDP to your scene the Preview lights are turned on.

    Happy New Year, folks ---

Have a problem with LDP-R in DAZ 4.7 Pro. I just did a clean refresh of the system, and re-installed all of my content and apps. Unfortunately, whenever try to update the background image, I receive an error as attached to this message.

A check of the log file is not at all helpful:

    "Loading Startup Scene : F:\Users\Public Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Dreamlight\LDP-R\Backgrounds\LDP-R Alien.duf
    *** Scene Cleared ***
Error reading file, see log for more details.
    Compiled C:/Users/Bruno/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/temp/shaders/brickyard/{da2e07bd-800a-467f-bc27-89f61f439072}/shader_Surface.sdl..."

(NOTE: I install my apps to the F: drive.)

    In troubleshooting this, I've:

    Ensured all permissions are open
Uninstalled and re-installed with both the DSIM, and manually
Created a "C:\RunFirst" directory to get the menu to be updated properly

Currently, nothing is helping, and the app just does not work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Best,

    Avindair

I am trying to decide if I want to purchase this Dreamlight product or not.

I know someone that has LDP-R and I played a round with it a little (wish I had more time to evaluate it, but it’s not my PC). From what I was able to try, I really like the results I get with outdoor scenes, but I’m more interested in indoor scenes.

On figure poses using the LDP-R camera I get a weird distorted effect that I don’t like. If I render with a regular camera the effect is not there, but with the LDP-R camera renders, parts of the figure look closer to the camera than other parts and it makes the render perspective look odd. Does anyone familiar with LDP-R know how to disable that effect (I’m assuming it’s some kind of camera focal effect that can be shut on and off?).

Also--do you have to use the LDP-R camera to get the multi-pass rendering (I'm guessing yes because it's script-driven?)

(MOD EDIT: merged to commercial thread to bring it to attention of other LDP-R users.)

The LDP-R camera seems to load with a wide angle focal distance, wich would cause a perspective distortion.
Try comparing the camera settings in the parameters tab with these of a regular DS camera. From there on you can adjust accordingly.

For some reason or another, I never got the gimp file.
Is there another place I can get it?

You should see it under your account in Product Library.

    http://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/prod/16860

At the bottom of that page you will see the files for this product.

I would use UberEnvironment for indoor scenes. Unless you really have an indoor scene with holes/windows where plenty of light can pass through to the scene.

In this video tutorial, towards the end, there is an example of an indoors scene with plenty of light to shine through.

You can set the camera with the parameters of a default DAZ Studio camera. I do it all the time.

Yes, you need to use the LDP-R camera when rendering.

No problems here. Really love the product so far.

I have a suggestion, though, and perhaps a tip for others out there, and it would be really great if the product got updated to do this automatically.

Render extra masks for (perhaps chosen) scene elements, like characters. It makes it much easier to apply extra light or other effects to just the main subject, while leaving the rest as it is.

To do this manually, I turn off all the lights and scene elements except for the one I'm producing a mask for, render, and save it as PNG to preserve transparency. This I save as 8_Mask.png for loading after I've run LDP-R Combine in Photoshop. Once I've filled the opaque parts with white and the transparent parts with black, I have a mask I can copy and paste into any layer mask.

    Cheers!
    Stephen

I just bought Light Dome PRO-R today and I'm using 4.7 PRO. I can get the lights set up and change the background, but when I go to Render-Render LDPR it doesn't do anything. I've followed the video and the PDF...even re-installed it...nothing. Does it not work with 4.7? It's actually very frustrating b/c I'm doing all the steps that are in the manual. I used install manager to install all but my PS action.

    Thanks.

The product is working for me in 4.7.0.12.

    1. Load the "Add LDP-R.duf' set into your scene
    2. Run the "Render LDP-R.dse" render script

You should be presented with a file window asking you to select a folder. Once the folder is selected, within that folder, 12 renders will be saved into a folder named Render_RezLow_QualityRaytracing_1.

    3. Load all 12 renders into Photoshop/Gimp and run the Photoshop/Gimp action to merge the renders into one image

What happens when you run steps 1 and 2 above? Do you get an error message of any kind?

I get all the way up to the folder select, and then the render box never appears. No errors, just doesn't do the renders. Almost like it isn't calling to script that it uses forth. The scene I am trying to add it to was one I built before I had the plug in. Like the night before. Could that have any effect? I did both a merge and then also just added it and tried both ways, but no render box. Everything else works as it should and I really have wanted this for awhile and wpuld love to get it ti work :)

Did you check the DS error log even though no error message appeared?

Maybe something in your scene is causing an issue. I would try it with an empty scene, LDP-R set and a genesis model.

    1. New Scene
    2. Load default Genesis
    3. Load the "Add LDP-R.duf"
    4. Load the "Render LDP-R.dse"
    5. Select a folder to save the renders

12 renders will be executed automatically as shown in the picture below

If nothing happens, no error message I'd file a tech support request and see if DAZ can help you, as I don't have any other ideas what the problem is.

I have no clue where it puts the error logs. I was able to start a new scene and it seems to work OK now. I'm currently rendering my new scene. It is on 1 of 11 so I think it will work.

I've noticed on my DAZ that sometimes I have to save and then close out a file and then reopen it to get it to render some surfaces. Maybe I bought too much stuff at the throwback sale :O LOL

    Thanks!

Glad you got it working. Sometimes my system does things I don't expect and can't explain. The last one that happened I started DS and my layout was reset back to the default. Fortunately, it was few clicks to configure it back close enough to the way it was.

Why is there no support for Photoshop CC so far? DAZ Install Manager can't install photoshop scripts for CC version and later.

You need to provide more info. Specifically where are you trying to save the rendered images to? It could be a permission issue.

That error message will pop up when there was nothing selected in the Scene tab when a material preset is applied. Go to the Scene tab, select LDP-R Skydome and then apply the LDP-R BigCity material preset or any of the other LDP material presets.

You won't see the change in your viewport picture unless you back up your camera so you can see the Skydome.

I load my scene, add LDP-R, hit render LDR-R, the image renders but at the end it gives me that error.

Here is where it is trying to send the renders.
