Kitbashed in Blender with Kitbash3D starship models, then exported to Daz.

In retrospect, probably I should be building it in Daz from props imported one after one and using as many instances as possible. As a single object it takes about 618 MB memory for the geometry of this single ship alone. Not accounting for textures, materials and anything else in the scene (also, even after scaling it down, it is a life-sized model).

Since Blender is part of your toolchain, have you considered decimating the mesh to reduce the size?  Daz has this too as a commercia product. I myself use another free Blender add-on, Simplygon. It's the same as decimate but more features. Going from Daz exported to Blender, Simpligon can reduce the file size by up to 50% with reasonable loss of mesh detail.

    Cheers!

That was after simplifying the mesh and joining parts. laugh

Nice models, though. Everything is quad based. Blender decimate modifier works with no problems.

Most of this came from parts like thrusters, solar panels and hatches having all details modeled instead of only textured. I can decimate the hell out of them but then they start look really bad.

Continuing from the comic book cover I wanted to create a longer story.  So... here's part 2 of 7 as I count the story.
