Can't find my "Environment" and "Tone Mapping" tab under render settings

I don't know what happened, but [Environment and Tone Mapping are] it's not there at all. Here's how the render settings tab looks like to me (I have daz vers 4.14).

Anyone know what I did wrong?

  • They, and the new Environment and Tone Mapping singleton nodes in the Scene pane, will appear if you render or turn on a PBR drawstyle in the Viewport, or if you explicitly create the nodes from the Create menu. If you wish you can save a scene with the nodes in plae (and any other chnages you want to be the default), then tell DS to load that scene on Start up or Scene creation via the tabs in Preferences

  • Why for the love of God? Why would you go and break something that doesn't need repaired in the first place? I was fine with those node things popping up by default but now I need to make a new scene and paste them over all the time? This is the worst change in 4.14, instead of making life easy it makes it harder, the option should always be there like it was in the preious versions.

  • Add the nodes, with whatever non-default values you want, and save as a scene. You can then use the Start up and/or Scene tabs of Preferences (Edit menu for Windows, Daz Studio menu fior Mac) to have DS load that scene on start up/File>New.

The immediate reason for the change, I believe, was the addition of Filament with its own, similar settings in the Draw Settings pane. However, having them as nodes does open up other possibilities for future development, such as making properties animatable.

  • I created  new 'Environment Options' into the scene, it appeared on the 'Scene' tab, but not in the 'Render Settings', I can do nothing with it . (I'm in Photorealisctic iRay mode)

  • Hi there. I do not know if anyone having trouble was able to get this figured out. I just wanted to share that I was successful in adding the Environment and Tone Mapping nodes to my Scene Pane and they also showed up in my Render Settings Pane under the Editor tab (where I am used to seeing them by default). I have Daz Studio 4.20 and it could be that those who have been unsuccessful may just need to update. (I hope this is helpful. My fingers are crossed for you!)

This is also because for some reason the nodes have been deleted. It has an easy solution, re-add them to the scene

Click on one of those nodes in the scene tab and you will get all the usual settings, but you will find them in the "Parameters tab".

Once you've done that it also reappears in the render settings, at some point, if you still want to be old fashioned about it. cheeky

Just wanted to say thanks, been fighting with this for bloody HOURS.
Daz worked fine yesterday, closed it down. Opened it this morning, and was missing these settings from every single old scene I'd already created. Seriously rage inducing levels of stupidity from this company.
Idiots at Daz need to stop pushing [updates] down without permission, asking, notifying, and ignoring the DO NOT UPDATE settings.
Can they manage to find anything else that works properly and break it.

Nothing was pushed down without permission - in order for the update to install you must select it for download and for instalaltion (or have Install After Download checked on the Ready To Download tab) or have the pop-up  for the entire suite enabled when DIM opens and Accept it. The update is not, in geenral, remove the settings nodes - whatever happened to you was atypical, possibly the result of a conflict with a non-standard add-on.
