Shout out to the creators of more realistic body types

ainukeainuke Posts: 86

To whom it may concern,

im really enjoying Brooke 8.1, and am thrilled to see Beverly HD for her. I know there's a lot of fantasy art created buy the artists using DAZ, but it's great to see models that are trending to more real-world proportions. Dragging the "Heavy" slider on nearly every model to soften the figure lends itself to a sameness in all of them. It's refreshing to see more thought being put into these stunning characters.

keep up the great work! I'll be buying ALL of it.

    Beverly is amazing, agreed!

"Average" would probably be more correct than "realistic", photo models are also real.

I also agree, Beverly looks awesome.

Dropping the link in here so it'll show in the Forum References for her. :-)

"Realistic" does also apply... Have you ever loaded the DevLoad model without textures and then dialed the installed bodies one by one? I have and some of the bodies were just way out, even when they were supposed to represent real people.

I may not the only one to notice Beverly's uncanny resemblace to Jemma, the main difference being that the latter is slightly more muscular.

What does Beverly look like with Brooke dialed out? She has a really cute face, maybe a bit toony but I don’t mind that, but I use only slimmer models. I’m wondering how much of Brooke her face uses because I’m only interested in her face which I think is adorable!

Oh thanks, interesting. She looks a bit African. But textures can make the face look very different. I’m not in a rush to get new characters right now, but may pick her up at a later date on a steeper sale. I think the textures make her look a bit toony but in a very cute way, And the glasses make her even more adorable!

With glasses & the right hair style she reminds me of Velma from Scooby Doo.

I imagine Mechasar had to exaggerate the lips quite a bit because Brooke has none whatsoever.

...sad that finally more "average" types of characters are being developed.   I stopped with G3 as it just became ridiculous having to again pay to "retool" every two years for a new Genesis base. Hence I generally up relying on extensive morphing and shaping which can have a serious impact on overall workflow.  Unfortunately all new characters that have been introduced are for 8.1 which is yet another step away, and not fully compatible with the version of the Daz programme I use. I can convert G8 to G3, but not 8.1.

For G3 about the only "normal" everyday female characters were Bethany 7, Molly, Lilly, and Liloo.

I also wonder why there have been few if any characters with more petite physiques, particularly bust size (save for a few young teens/tweens). Simply reducing breast size doesn't always give the best results and imperfections can translate to clothing fits and particularly textures (the reason I never use striped or other textures such as chequered or plaid on shirts, sweaters, & blouses as they distort badly and excessive smoothing to fix this not only slows down viewport response but can cause undesirable mesh distortions ["spikes"] as well).

Can’t you just use free generic G8.1, dial up whatever character or morphs you want and use G8 or G3 textures on it? I think the only thing the newest DS adds is for the new PBR skin shaders which are awful anyway in most cases.

Have to agree. As usual it comes down to what the user is used to seeing around them daily. I work in retail management and the store I manage is in a really nice area, so I see mostly trophy wivies that are very fit with enhancments on a daily basis.

Luckily any and all shapes can be changed or tweaked depending on preference. I have no interest in ever using brooke or beverly for any of my work, but it's nice that there are plenty of options.

Oh, it looks like Brooke is needed then to get the cute face morph. I have yet to render a plus size model and unless Brooke is free at some point (like Bethany was) then I guess I’m out of luck.

Thanks for appreciating my character. This is not only a product for me but also a challenge against that perfect-fitness-body trend that we have become accustomed to seeing in the most of modern media and digital artworks in general. That sort of shape is great for sure, but I just love to see more different shapes. I know some of you don't need the Brooke 8.1 character, maybe because they consider it worthless for their works, and I also understand that it could depend on what is the main theme of your works. But the more the different shapes you own in your library the more the chance you have to create unusual and stunning characters, giving you new ideas for your stories. That’s it. As a digital artist I can see beauty and interesting details whatever the body shape, hope you can see them too. So, take all the time you need to decide on Beverly and Brooke 8.1, they will remain available in the store anyway. Thanks.

Yeah, I live in LA in a neighborhood full of wannabe actors/models and the people all look like the people in movies, TV, or magazine ads because they ARE the people in them lol. (Or at least extras in them!) I actually didn’t realize what a bubble I lived in until I started reading these forums.

When I went to Milan, I was shocked how amazingly ridiculously beautiful and tall everyone was and then realized they were top Vogue models. A city full of them! There was a random gorgeous couple driving next to our taxi in some kind of convertible Italian car, in designer clothes, who looked so amazing, it could have been an ad in any top fashion magazine. And these specimens of ideal beauty were all around. So “normal” really does depend where you live.

I don't know if I qualify 'enhancements' as being all that realistic, considering they needed to be enhanced to achieve that look in the first place. At any rate I couldn't stand living in a place like that where so many people feel like they need to go under a knife just to be attractive. That is not a mentally healthy society at all.

Just goes to prove the addage about the eye of the beholder. I have no problem with the shape (I like that) but the skin, the creases and folds all look so unrealistic. Not even a good toon-like unrealistic.I'd like to see @bluejaunte take on a shape like Beverly. I think I'd buy that instantly.

I think Beverly is amazing. The only reason I didn't get her is she is G8.1 and I can't use that in 4.11. But when I can actually afford a video card, I'll pick her up.

@Mechasar  Your Beverly is the sole reason that I am now open to D|S 4.15 as I am in a similar situation to @SereneNight.  Beverly is gorgeous heart

...the characters need at least the G8 body/head/expression morphs to even work properly and there is no backwards transfer utility from 8.1 to 3. Crikey, even the G8 to G3 clothing transfer utility doesn't work most of the time which has me a little annoyed as on my budget, I can't just afford to throw money around on products that don't work properly. .I wouldn't have bothered getting some of the G8 clothing (even though some of it is styles I have been waiting years to see) If I knew I had to do a lot of tedious adjustments by hand to deal with pokethrough and bad fitting.

I have little to no trouble fitting G2 Genesis or even Gen4 clothing to G3 (save for Gen4 footwear because of the "crucifix" foot pose) . G8 is just not as compatible.  Manually fitting hair from other generations (including G8) to retain all movement and style morphs is no where near as problematic as clothing, and there is no more GenX to transfer morphs, G3 was the last generation.

This is why I've taken to having to create customised characters using the morphing and shaping along with various merchant resource kits and mixing of different base characters.  Unfortunately it sometimes creates other issues.  For example, with my Leela character (G3F) when I tried to fit the Boho Dress for G3F on her, it refused to settle properly on her shoulders and I had to spend several days going through the hidden parameters and JCMs to find what was causing the issue so I could fix it.  I've had similar fitting issues with other G3 clothing content on custom developed G3 characters as well.

It depends on the neighborhood. I’m in West Hollywood. Many beautiful people everywhere. Tons of super hot gay guys on Santa Monica Blvd. and where I am, closer to Sunset,  just lots of attractive trendy in-shape people and most are in the entertainment industry or a creative field. Even people with regular jobs are very attractive because they probably came here to be a model or actor, were not successful so became a real estate agent or sales person, or the cliche waiter/waitress...

And then you go up to North Hollywood, Van Nuys, Burbank, etcetera and it's not everywhere you look. I lived in the NoHo/Studio City area for eight years and I think Studio City was the farthest north you go to find the "entertainment type" everywhere you look and even then there's a very happy mix. I miss the Valley. Dang Covid for making me move back home.

    Here's a render I did of Beverly.

On a side note, Livivg at the west tip of texas, right on the Mexico boarder.  Most females here (not counting military transplants) are around the 5ft mark and above what would be considered a "normal" weight.
