Have you ran a single 2070 Super bench with 4.14? If you don't mind, that would give us a more direct comparison to 4.12 as each of the 4 benches you ran were all different hardware configurations.

Also, do you plan on using Nvlink?

I do have plans on using Nvlink, but not in the near future as things seem all good at the moment. If I do later, I will post benchmark. yes

Turning off CPU rendering is not new to 4.14.  It's never been a good idea to combine CPU and GPU rendering unless your CPU renders faster than your GPU.

With my hardware, Daz 4.12 helped speed up the rendering, so I had it on. Whereas in 4.14, CPU hinders it, so I have it off.
My benchmark makes me agree with you and disagree with you at the same time.

    GPU only Daz4.12
    5 minutes 51.51 seconds

    5.197 iterations per second

    GPU+CPU Daz4.12 (winner) disagree
    4 minutes 58.22 seconds
    6.133 iterations per second

    GPU only Daz4.14 (winner) agree
    4 minutes 39.10 seconds
    6.561 iterations per second

    GPU+CPU Daz4.14
    6 minutes 29.26 seconds
    4.682 iterations per second

Quick test: beta 4.14.0.10 takes exactly as long as 4.14.0.8 (for me, on RTX2070S)

That's as expected because they have exactly the same version of Iray embedded in them (fwiw there's a breakdown of which Iray version correlates to what Daz Studio version at the start of this thread.)

That was my first thought, too, but then remembered talk about "how DAZ handles bump maps has improved".

I was hoping that maybe DAZ is on a roll and revisits old code because of Filament or whatever... but nope, no improvements this time.

  • I would love to see a new benchmark for the RTX 3080 with Daz Studio Ver. 4.14.

That's the GPU I'm considering over the 3090 for sheer cost to performance ratio. It seems 4.14 would make it even faster!

  • Waitting for the results with the rtx 3070 e rtx 3060 ti Benchmarks.

  • Due to the silly GPU prices atm I decided to sell my 2060 super. I actually got back the money I spent on it over a year ago. I figured if I wait until 30 series are on the shelves then I'd only get around half of that.

In the mean time I managed to get a room heater, sorry a Titan x for a reasonable price. It's not quick by any means but it's probably the cheapest way to get a good amount of vram.

The next post down is the same setup but with just the 3060Ti active.

@clab.hd989 am I correct in assuming this and this were done using DS version 4.14.2.008?

Similarly, @droidy001 am I correct in assuming this was done using DS version 4.12.1.117?

  • just wanna say, the 4.14 update litarily feels like a GPU update.  went from 7M 48sec to 6m36sec on my old dying 2060.   originally planned to buy a 3090 to fulfill the project I envisioned, now I think a 3080 or 3080 ti stack up with my 2060 should be plenty

do I understand the figures on the first page right and 3060ti vs 3080 is about 15% difference only? but price is like 500 vs 800?

Well, looking at the numbers for the 3060 TI they are about 50 seconds slower than the 3090s numbers I've seen in this thread.

I don't see no 3080 or 3070 numbers though. I'm more interested in a 3070's numbers though from a personal affordability perspective. Did I miss those posts? I know those cards are the 2 most difficult to get.

As of this post, the only benchmark result we have for the 3080 was done on Daz Studio version 4.12.2.051 Beta. Whereas The onky 3060Ti and multiple of the 3090 results were done on DS version 4.14.0.008 Beta or newer. Since there was a major across-the-board rendering performance uplift for all graphics cards during that time, that 3080 result (nor the majority of the rest of the results compiled in this thread) is not as fast as it should be in comparison to those other 3000 series cards. We need someone to test/re-test a 3080 and post there resutls while running DS 4.14.0.008 or later here to know for sure how it really matches up.

I think we may need to change up the table a bit to better differentiate 4.14 from the previous versions. The performance change is just too dramatic, and anybody who casually looks at the chart may be mislead by the skewed results between different versions.

While DS versions are listed in the second chart, the big main table does not. I do not think we need to have every version of DS on there, since performance never really changed between them. But I think would should have a column on the chart just for 4.14 and even make it a different color so that it stands out from the rest. As well as a note at the top of the chart (since many people will not read notes at the bottom) describing what we have found with 4.14 so far. Every bench before 4.14 is now simply out of date.

So, @colcurve, what we have found is that just upgrading DS to 4.14 has offered a performance jump that is on par with a full tier upgrade of hardware...sometimes even more. Once somebody benches their 3080 with 4.14 I believe it will be faster than the 3090 was in 4.12. My 1080tis cut 30 seconds off their previous bench times. We have never seen a performance lift like this from just upgrading Daz, not since the introduction of Iray RTX.

Hi RayDAnt, is it possible that you have missed a few benchmarks?

I had tested RTX 2060, RTX 2070 Super and Ryzen 5 3600 in all combinations, both in 4.12, 4.14 Beta and 4.14, but I don't see them in the updated charts.

That's a huge improvement from 27.81 iterations per second in 4.12. Also, now sub-1 minute with 2 cards.

I've made this Google Sheet for me, and it's public.

It has all entries for this monstrous 4.14 update, and it quickly compares the iteration rate for all the GPUs.

    Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wkuVTjE9LDrq_YHstg_iJy6HUO5eQTNlXGMB25mfk44/

I'm attaching the charts comparing the various GPUs.

I know it's not 100% precise (you can't see if the GPU was overclocked, some entries are extrapolated from multi-GPU setup where the total result differs from the sum of the single ones, you don't know in what system the GPU was etc.), but I needed a quick a clear comparison to compare the GPU prices and all.
