Question about creating content

wmiller314wmiller314 Posts: 184
October 2020 in Blender Discussion

Hello all! I'd like to create a few simple custom items for my renders. My questions is: Do most content creators use blender to create their models (models being anything like a baseball bat or kettle bell or whatever) or is there some other program? And where could I find courses on how to create content specifically for Daz studio? There are a few courses in the daz marketplace but they all look like they are designed around much older versions of daz. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Any program which can export the mesh as OBJ can be used to create content for DS. So Blender is an option, but so are many others like Hexagon, Wings3D, Modo, Maya, 3DSMax, Lightwave, Zbrush, Cinema4d....

I use Blender for creating near almost of my content (mostly people) except for some hair models created in Zbrush.

@Vyusur I've bought a few of your products! How hard was it to learn Blender and where should I start? Are there good instructionals?

I mostly use blender, zbrush for some fine detailing of objects I created in blender. I might use zbrush more for initial creation, but blender makes it a lot easier to build things to exact measurements you want. So I will usually make the base at least in blender, then export to ZB.

Thank you for purchasing. Hope you will find them useful. As for learning, there are tons of useful video tutorials on the subject. When I learned Blender, one of my favorite tutors was tutor4you. https://www.youtube.com/user/tutor4u

Blender guru has some good video series  for the 2.8 version that are aimed at beginners as well.  they are what I have been using lately.

udemy has some great classes and they are always having sales. Usually around Thanksgiving they have a $9.99 sale. Although I paused my udemy learning momentarily for this one on youtube by CGBoost

This course was in the "PC+ for the day" sale the other day: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-content-creation-with-blender Maybe there'll be a catch-up sale where you can get it for $1.99 again.
