interesting idea.
What if the chairs were holograms as well?
Question of practicality: What if the holographic projectors get knocked out? How do you access your systems then?
I would assume the same way that they would if a mechanical control panel was knocked out ... Call Scotty or one of his relatives!

LOL!
IT'S BACK!!!!!!!
Oshikai's Aiko Retro Skirt - and it's free!
You know it, you love it, you want it! Many of us here have been asking about it for months, - it was at RDNA and then ... it wasn't :ohh:. And we couldn't track it down.
But now, it's back, and you can download it in all its glory! Be sure to also download the expansion set - that's what turns it from a cool, hippie-chick masterpiece into one of the sweetest Starfleet uniforms available. Keep in mind, it was designed for Aiko 3 only - but that's not a bad thing. With a bit of dogged determination, it's possible to adjust it to fit V3 (not perfectly, but usably so), and a lot of its custom rigging and morphs only really work well in its original format, but for free, can you really complain?? ;)
Aiko 3 Star Trek Dress/Retro Skirt
Star Trek Expansion for Aiko 3
Put it through Wardrobe Wizard- which has a stand alone version- and it'll fit V3 just fine. :-)

All equipment hardware, software or holoware is susceptible to damage. One would assume they would build in multiple reundancy and backup failing that they might even have an old style aux control room hidden away somewhere
Hey Jag I love the concept of the holo controls and the whole bridge you have here has a really cool minimalist look to it. I look forward to seeing how this goes. Is this a Generation Beyond design?
Thanks I'll post an update later

Once I figure out how to combine my morphs for the A3 Retro Skirt, I'll upload them.
Currently when D|S'sAutofit converts it over to the Genesis use, it leaves a very common and annoying wrinkle in the crotch and breast area. My Z-Brush morph removes those wrinkles. Even the current plug-ins to help smooth this over doesn't work as well as expected.
Once applied, this morph will carry over the look of the dress for almost all the available morphs for Genesis.
(Current character is built with six (6) different morphs)

I like the set and interface concept, but those chairs, they remind me of the dentist's chairs and I'm not too keen on laying back so a Klingon dentist can work on my teeth.

This isn't just a D/S problem or just the retro skirt. I've seen this in Poser with other outfits after they've been put through Wardrobe Wizard. I think those areas are where the morphs meet- the boarders between them. Unless you have the skills and the programs to fix it, it's not easy to work around.

I asked the guy who made the dress if he would convert it to V4 and he is willing but it will not be free. Not sure if I am up for forking out what he wants to convert it so everyone can have it for V4. I guess if I want to use it I will have to just suck it up and let my bank account be pissed at me.
Actually, we might be able to convince him, as a group of paying customers to convert the outfit. I'd be happy to 'pre-order' the V4 version, and if several of us are interested, then there is the commission price taken care of - it wouldn't make sense to charge several commissions for the same conversion work.
Hey PTROPE, actually the price he quoted was a one time paid fee and then it would be available to everyone. The price he quoted is a little steep for one person but if several were to work together it wouldn't be that bad. When asked he said all of the existing textures would be compatible and the dress would have morphs if you like I an note you the traffic between hem and I from DA.
Looks great! Z-Brush is one of the programs I wish I had, but it's just not in my budget.
Those distortions are the same thing that I've seen in several conversions, as mdbruffy noted, and on several items of women's clothing - skirts and the sternum just don't seem to convert smoothly, especially if the breast size of the target is much smaller than the original, as if the program just can't calculate where all that extra material needs to go ;).

I tried Cross Dresser and had the same issue.
As for being designed for Aiko 3, that isn't such a bad thing. Who was it who was doing remarkable Caitian morphs to A3, again?

At this time in technology, wouldn't Starfleet be using androids or AI Holograms like the Ships Doctor on Voyager? Depending on the size of ship, it would not be inconceivable that the Captain may be the only human on the bridge and the "Crew' is composed of androids or AI avatars (like "Romy" on Andromeda). Instead of giving a command to a Helmsman who then carries it out, the Captain communicates to the ship's avatar who performs the function directly without the need for a console.
What also can be "cool" is the a neuro-couch (like Stargate Atlantis) at the Captain's station.

But that takes all the fun out of yelling for Scotty to fix things! Yelling at a holographic Scotty just wouldn't be as much fun.
Some interesting ideas:

madd,
it's prolly dealt with by means of first and secondary halo systems linked to mobil emitters . to minimize chances of system fails

Tough crowd... lol

If you want to share them, I'd like to see his thoughts on the idea - I'd be more than happy to chip in on a 'crowdfunding' of the V4 conversion. I'm sure that he probably saw a drop-off of sales since it was only for Aiko 3, but I would think that a V4 version could bring him a revenue stream again, if he wanted to go that route, and I, for one, would be happy to pay what I paid for the A3 version. ;-)
Yup, same thing - I looked back through a few pages of the thread, but I guess I didn't look far enough ;).
Some of those could make great poser models ;)
Audi Shark
Cell Craft G440
Citroen EGGO (I really like that one!)

I just forwarded you the not he sent me over this. Let me know your thoughts on it and maybe if we could get more involved it would be awesome.

I thought they were some pretty interesting designs.
Umm, I hope I don't sound too egotistical when I ask if you might have been thinking of me?
(Previously posted example attached here.)
Sincerely,
Bill

Wasn't example number 9 used as the "Jupiter 8" briefly glimpsed in a magazine ad for the episode "Bread and Circuses"?

PTROPE,
I just finished noting back with Idelacio and it looks like he is going to put out an open donation to convert the dress and once the threshold that he is asking is met he will convert the dress and put it out. Hopefully he will post a journal entry in the next couple hours or days. Anyone who would like to have this dress please check out the the DA site where the A3 dress is posted as a freebie for details and hopefully we can get this converted for V4 by the guy made the dress.
