Whispers... I'm not really here (yet) and you're not really seeing this for now. ;-) But...

OMG! The Complaint Thread is alive and going strong! This made my day. Been missing you guys. Makes me happy and nostolgigic for the days when the thread first got started.

I'm sorry I don't have a funny complaint to share. I suppose that's my complaint. I just wanted to say HELLO and wish everyone well.

Sorry I disappeared.  I'm busy clawing my way back from a serious illness, in case anyone was curious about what happened to me. ...Not that anyone would be, curious that is. ;-) ...Enough about that, though. Just now getting back into art and design. Had to stop for a few years because I simply wasn't capable of it.

@ Miss Bad Wolf... Still struggling? Glad you are hanging in there. ;-) Doing my best to do the same. :-)

Welcome back!  Yes, the insanity is still going on, but needs fresh blood now and then and a jolt of lightning (white or otherwise) periodically.  Blood or lightning is appreciated so please hurry back.

Non-complaint:  While brother & sister-in-law were escaping quarantine and shopping yesterday they dropped off their old laptop.  I'd ordered more RAM and an SSD for it.  Terribly slow 5+ year old low-end laptop with only one module of 4GB DDR3 memory(RAM) and a 5400rpm hard drive & slow(1.9GHz) 3rd generation, intel-i3, CPU.  Couldn't do much about the CPU but for $100 I found exact replacement 4GB memory module from Dell and a Crucial MX500 500GB solid-state-drive(SSD) for it.  Inserted the 2nd RAM module to max out the machine at 8GB, cloned the hard drive onto the SSD, and Wheeee..., the machine that used to make my brother tear his hair out and talk about getting a new one, is now behaving like it belongs in the 21st century.  Saved them $400. yes

Non-complaint:  While not DAZzing I try to exhaust my supply of on-line video subscriptions.  Currently I'm working on draining the Amazon Prime library.  One series I've become addicted to is "Ekaterina: The Rise of Catherine The Great".  Russian produced, Russian audio, English sub-titles.  Yeah, yeah, I know, sub-titles, sorry, I can read sub-titles and they don't bother me.  But even if you are not addicted to classical Russian history like I am, or can't stand watching videos with sub-titles the introduction and theme song for the 3rd season's episodes is marvelous.  The first two season's introductions had the same theme song, but the production probably had limited money or trust from the funders (the government) but apparently the show is a big hit and the sets, locations and general production values in general seem to have improved greatly in the 3rd season.

Just watch the slightly more than a minute of introduction and take yourself back to a time of fairy-tales, passion, power and horror.

"Ekaterina: The Rise of Catherine The Great". Season 3 introduction & 1st episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKjDqqjBM1Y&list=PLQ9EAZLIBYnDbNkveUaWQ9yXPGQvqooY8&index=25  (horror begins at 4:44)  A little explanation of the horror scene.  The attackers are not Catherine's people but are followers of a false Tzar claiming to be the rightful heir Peter III.  The scene later (42:30) that takes place in a mideastern city is the Turks attacking a Christian church, part of the ongoing battle with Russia's southern neighbors in their attempt to gain access to the Black Sea.

Note: I could not find a way to turn on sub-titles in the YouTube version.  I normally watch on Prime TV via my AmazonPrimeTV gizmo.

I would  much rather watch something with subtitles than something that’s been dubbed into English. I watch a fair amount of anime with my wife, and anytime we’re watching a dubbed anime, I’m quietly weeping inside the entire time. The performances are rarely any good, and frequently comically bad. A nice thing about foreign language film is that it’s a little harder to tell when someone is acting poorly if you don’t understand what they’re saying in the first place. It’s harder to catch weird inflections or stilted speech patterns. Even if the subtitles are translated badly, I find that that detracts from the experience less than hearing the same lines delivered by someone who’s not doing a very good job of acting them.

Nooooo... Say it isn't so. It would be much too boring, unimaginative, and confusing to use the same word for both male and female instances of peril. I keep hoping people are more imaginative then that. :-) Using a derivative form of the latin word for male, which would be different from the female form, would certainly have been better in my confused and screwy opinion.

Since dragons seem to have changed their diet and gone into hiding these days I don't suppose we will ever see a need for the male form of the word. ;-) I suppose damsels aren't as tasty or healthy to eat these days with the higher risk of preservatives, and perhaps that could explain the diet change in part. (dark humor... please put the torches down. Thank you.)

Yes we are still here... actually...  I was over there before, but now I'm here... over there was nice until it started to burn, but it's out now and I came over here so no one would know I was there...

Its nice to hear someone say they missed me when it's not in connection to projectiles being launched in my general direction... though it's still better than "Ha! I got you!"... but you were probably referring to everyone else as a whole... well, more like a loose collection of individuals, not an amorphous blob of flesh comprised of the personalities of the various forum members... which I'm happy to announce the cure to which was found and we are all feeling much better now... well, mostly... I seem to have an extra pinky toe now, but it's wearing away slowly...

Just so you know, funny complaints aren't necessary... you could just make witty commentary or pointless banter... even insightful blather... it's all equally welcomed or ignored...

I'm sorry to hear you were experiencing ill health and are now clawing at stuff... I'm no physician, but I have pretended to be one in order to steal medical supplies like band aids and lollipops, so I do know a thing or two about medicine... mostly that you should take pills with water and not chew them, but the "clawing" thing sounds a lot like a lycanthropy issue...

Have you tried "WolffAway" it's actually good for Werewolfism as well as for people who are currently werecats, werebears, wererabbits, werepenguins and even werehamsters. The disappearing thing has me stumped though... were you actually invisible or just hard to see... I thought I was invisible once, but it turned out that my mirror wasn't plugged in.

I am curious about your serious illness... though I'd have much rather it have been a comical illness like "silly farts", "googly eyes" or "marshmallow spleen"... Was it an illness that made you serious, in that you went around dressed like one of those snobby deans in an 80s frat boy flick, humorlessly crushing everyone's fun times and while being a dull wet blanket... or was it more like you went to the doctor and they were like "Holy s--t, this is serious!!"... I wasn't going to ask at first, because it's usually considered rude to pry, but you said "not that anyone would be curious" and that seemed like a challenge, both to my sense of curiosity and to my pompous ego... I'll have you know, I'm so curious cats literally burst into flames from the radiant overflow of curiosity if they come too close... in fact that's what was burning in my earlier comment on me being over there...

So yeah it had nothing to do with a flamethrower and the cat owing me money from a low overdue gambling debt...

So... was it anything cool? I'm thinking you were bit by an invisible werewolf who was actually the dean of Borington Academy and that made you invisible, seriously serious and clawed...  Its also quite possibly you had a really protracted case of silly farts instead, because I've heard after a while the novelty wears off and people start to shun you...

We won't shun you though... we wouldn't shun anyone... well, except for that guy we shunned, but he deserved it... wait... that was me... never mind.

Well, I hope you are able to get back into art and design with ease and find all your creativity bursting forth driving you to make up for all that time you spent biting and clawing innocent victims or farting silly farts...

Anyway... I probably should have just said  "Aye! Stonester! Yo, the Stonemeister... Good to see ya!"... but that would have been too simple and made me sound too much like Pauly Shore...

    Anyanyway... Welcome back!

It is cold, wet, and gloomy here, with the threat of fog rolling up the valley and over the peaks.

Hmmmm... I was just thinking it would be nice to visit this Bed & Breakfast in the Cher Valley of France. It was formerly a windmill and now I'm wondering if the caves underneath might be gifted with a hybernating dragon. ^_^

Busy making dinner myself and tortellini sounds like a good choice to me.

New cookware set? Would it be strange if I feel giddy for you feeling giddy about new cookware. I enjoy cooking.

I'm hoping I can get my hands (claws) on some healthy eggplants and peppers. I'd like to fullfill a request to make Eggplant Scallopini Marsala again. (Note:  I say "claws" because I'm afraid McGyver might be right about the were-rabbit affliction. I refer to a possible incident with a vorpal bunny from my spelunking days and my proclivity for vegitables.)  :-)

Non-complaint:  I've just finished the 38 episodes of "Black Sails" on Sho-Time (I think).  A pirate series.   I was doing about half an episode a day because the plot details and tension were sometimes too much for me.  Considering the fact that I finished the series, seems to indicate that it was pretty good.yes  The costumes, & sets were appropriately rustic and grubby.  The acting was good.  The wenches were wenchy.  The female leads were strong.  And almost all the men were hunky! (*hubba-hubba*)   Loved some of the leather gear. (*sigh*).  Not enough shirtless scenes.  The violence was nasty.  The love scenes were blissfully short.  The special effects were particularly believeable and I didn't know some of them were special effects until I watched a couple of the "making of" shorts. smiley

HOWEVER, I never thought of the pirates or even their leaders as being so politically astute, philosophical, or well spoken.  I often felt like I was attending a lecture on human nature and international politics, mixed with terrorist idealism.indecision

Non-complaint:  Music to DAZ by.  I just received an email notice of the symphony schedule for the Cleveland Symphony at Severance Hall in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.  It's about 150 miles (2 hours, 15 minutes drive).  One of my all time favorite symphonies will be playing at a Friday morning 11:00 matinee (Nov  6, 2020).  Which is ideal because driving to Cleveland for an evening performance requires that I stay the night in a hotel near the hall (can't drive at night) and decent hotels on the east side of Cleveland are few and far between, and not cheap!

The performance will be Dvorak's 7th Symphony.  That symphony is still on my bucket list to hear live.  I particularly love the last (4th) movement of the 7th symphony.  Very mysterious.  Especially the part beginning at 5:00 into the 4th movement.  Check it out.

I don't have a car anymore but I could rent a car for a day or two and have a mini-adventure and spread my wings again and pretend I'm alive again if even just for a few hours.  Antonin Dvorak:  Symphony #7 4th movement  performed by the Hong Kong symphony

Here is performance schedule details: https://www.clevelandorchestra.com/2021-concerts-pdps/2021---classical/wk-04-dvorak-seven/?performanceNumber=18973

Some images of Severance Hall https://www.google.com/search?q=images+severance+hall&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi2xrKxjNLoAhWUBc0KHVgBCwgQsAR6BAgKEAE&biw=1920&bih=937

And below, this 2nd YouTube link is the complete symphony as performed by the Cleveland Orchestra. It's a better recording but no video.  4th movement begins at 27:10 ( mysterious part begins at 30:28)

There are so very very few skilled history teachers in schools these days, ...if any attempt is even made to teach history. At least that has been my experience. Most of what  I know about history I've had to pick up on my own and from other sources. School (public school) was by and large a waste of time, except for a few, very rare, and outstanding exceptions. (Note: I don't think I'm alone in this unfortunate experience.)

Sorry to get serious on your light hearted post, which I enjoyed. ;-)
