Much less of a complaint:  I've almost got my network sharing working properly again.  Almost.indecision   Apparently the primary issue was one machine (the one I have turned on most of the time) had a share setting that was limiting the number of connections to "3" instead of the default value of "20".  This apparently was boogering up the ability of this system to act as the master network sharing controller when it's elected to be it.  Increasing the value to "20" cleared up most of the problems but still...  I have 5 machines (Four of my own, and one belonging to a relative, all Win10 home or pro.) on my local network (2 on wired LAN  and 3 on WiFi) Everybody can now see and talk to everybody else EXCEPT for my laptop which only sees itself but all other machines can see it and share data with it, both directions.  (go figurefrown)

I've tried resetting the network software yet again (a pain in the butt to reconfigure it afterwards but I'm getting good at it).  I've tried flushing the DNS table everywhere,  I've tried turning off the firewall(s). but no cigar!sad

HOWEVER..., if I plug in the wired LAN cable into the laptop, BINGO, it can see everybody and all is happy.  Even when I pull the LAN cable out again and leave just the WiFi connection active all is hunky-dory! surpriseyes  But I shouldn't have to do that!  And when I reboot the machines afterwards, blockages reappear.sad

I'm theorizing that the issue is some sort of network table that is not being populated properly via the WiFi drivers.  It may have something to do with the age and the 9 year old technology of the built-in WiFi dingus in the laptop.  Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom has been obsoleting old WiFi dinguses or not supporting them properly in recent Win10 updates.  I theorize this because if I plug in an external newer WiFi USB dingus, everything works OK until I remove it and reboot.  (*sigh*).  But having a 2 inch WiFi dingus hanging off the edge of my laptop is a recipe for disaster.  I'm going to dig out a tiny external WiFi dingus that only sticks out a quarter inch and see if that also fixes things.  Not happy about problems, but have a warm comfy feeling that I'm closing in on the problem.yes  (Well, yeah, I am happy about problems that exercise parts of my brain that I thought I had lost.)smiley

Note: "boogered" and "dingus" and its plural "dinguses" are, in my world, proper technical adjectives and nouns.cheeky

Uncomplaint:  Wheee... networking issue fixed for the moment.  I don't know what fixed it but everything's talking to everything else across LAN and WiFi, no exceptions.  Wheee! smiley

HOWEVER, I have a suspicion that finding that little USB WiFi dingus, installing it, and finding out that it fixed nothing but created problems of its own was a low point in the day for me.  Then I uninstalled dingus's driver and went back to using the built-in WiFi dingus in the laptop and everything's working! surprise  Perhaps the process of shuffling around drivers unscrambled something that had been boogered.  I've tested, rebooting and the blockages don't return, everything keeps working the way it should.  Not going to look a gift horse in the mouth but I'm not going to bet my life on it continuing to work.  Just happy that it is possible to work.  Yes, Virginia, there is a needle in the haystack.frown

  • $22 each for pro bundles. Woot! - until the following day when one could get them for $11. Argh!!! I guess there is only one more solution. Buy more bundles.

..yeah and also a special deal on Pro bundles at 66% off as well (with PC+).  OK, I know I've mentioned I usually don't bother with Pro bundles because they usually have a lot of skimpwear and other stuff I'd rarely if ever use, but when one comes along with nice clothing & such (like the Young Teens 5 on years ago), it does catch my eye.  Currently mulling over getting the Edie bundle as with the 20th anniversary coupon, it comes to only 37$ and change.  Still a big expense that likely will do my daz budget for the month in, but something like 97$ off (and with both the G8 - G3 clothing ands character converters I can use her and all the clothing with G3F).

On the flip side is the 60% flash sale where could get four items off the wish list for around 20$- 22$.

    Agh, decisions.

..yeah but that's about 90$ total for all 3, plus the only one that interests me is Edie (already have the base Floyd character and a some content for him).

Wish Daz gave out birthday prezzies.  Used to get a birthday coupie worth like 5$ to 6$ from Content Paradise.

i haven't visited the Daz website because I got sick again.  I think i ate some moldy pasteries.  Yuck. I didn't see the mold at the bottom.  Usually the blue mold is on the top where I can see it.  I got a stomach ache and digestion issues.  Maybe I'll feel better this weekend.

edit: The Michael 6 Starter Bundle is free.

Non-complaint:  Music to DAZ by:  Wake up!  A little traveling music maestro.  Ten minutes of something familiar and fun to start your morning.  No, it's not the Bugs Bunny version, and no, it's not piano.  It's the orchestra version of a classic popularized in the modern world by a cartoon.

I made an order and two items got canceled for some reason I do not understand.   Now I am going to be refunded thirty some dollars.  "Free Shipping" requires I think 79 or basically 80 dollars worth of stuff.   I am bummed but maybe it is for the best.  Maybe I can find a night gown I would like better than the one I ordered?

Maybe I can find some animal print nightgown instead of flowers

This is a screenshot of the email saying the two items got canceled.  Oh bummer.

A little rainy yesterday.  I woke up this morning and had to sweep 2-3 inches of snow from my little 8' square covered porch, and 8 inches from the steps (uncovered).  Weather was clear and sunny.  I go back and watch a little TV.  Thirty minutes later I look up and the room is dark, the windows are gray and upon closer inspection the outside is snowing HARD.  An hour and a half later I look out at my porch and there are two inches on the covered part and about four inches on the steps. (*sigh*)  frown

Coconuts are really hard, how does one suck a coconut nipple?
