looks really nice. so he's a 150% man.
Really interesting mix!
I picked up Tennessee straight away and have big plans for him. The mix-value with other characters is worth far more than the cost of this character.
Who says there are no native figures for Genensis 8??! (Hint: Search "Native" on the DAZ website.)

The ears on Head 1 are oddly long. At first, I thought I had an issue with my installation, but that's the way it looks in the promos as well (image below). I wonder why? I tried using Gauged Ears on him to fill the space, and that did not go At All Well.
It takes more than body paint and a tan to make a native figure.
50% Head 01, 50% Head 02, 50% Christian Head
Christian's textures (skin darkened) and HD morph (not full strength)
Sometimes you can get away with it, depending ;).
Laurie
The problem I see with most of these is that they look nothing "native" OR even realistic (most are stylized characters...not that there's anything wrong with that). For folks that want more authentic Native American morphs those aren't an option. Tennessee fits the bill tho, and Rawart has one that's pretty nice. For a female, Saiyanness' Benita can be morphed to look quite realistic for a native american since she's half the way there already. I used her in an image I did of a Native American woman.

The lobes are long probably because the ears were pierced with things similar to the nose bone in the product promos. Native Americans used all kinds of decorations, including ear piercings. I'm not sure which one it is - it might even be the base morphs - but I have a morph to change the size of the lobes and I used that on the last image I did of Tennessee where I mixed him with Christian by turning limits off and dialing it backward.
My Granddad's ears were like that and he was pure Scottish, mine seem to be going the same way according to my Grandchildren :)
Fantastic character.
Just got him.
Yes, my ears are doing that as Fishtales says but not to that degree. Even has creases in one of them like I used to wear a heavy earring like a pirate or something. Nope, neither were ever even pierced.. I'm like, "Yuck! What is that going on with my ears?" Cartilage in the nose keeps growing too. More in men than in women. You'll often see old men & old women caricaturized with big noses and big ears because it's fairly common. Some are lucky though and the growth isn't so much.
Exactly. Most of those characters look as much like actual native Americans as Disney’s Pocahontas did. The female figures especially look, at best, generically “ethnic”. Arguably the best native-styled female figure, Xochil, doesn’t even come up in a search for “native”.
Trouble is some people are expecting them to all look like they was run off a xerox machine but they weren't and can look quite different. There are certain traits that are unique to certain populations but those unique traits aren't distributed to 100% of the people in those populations at any rate.
I may be wrong, but I'm assuming the PAs who made these based them on photos of real Native Americans, did their research and did not just make up these characters from their imagination. I would give them a little credit. Nobody from any ethnicity looks exactly like anyone else, there is variety in any ethnicity and it bothers me when people say a character doesn't look Black, or Hispanic or Native American or whatever. People are human, not clones, and genes can do interesting things! Often people in the same family do not even have the same traits, let alone an entire ethnicity!
Yeah, I agree with everyone's points on the "not-really-native-american-looking", BUT - maybe you can use bits of one and parts of another. Some of those skins and makeups on the right morph-mixed figures could help. <shrug> I spent three summers on the Tulalip Tribe just outside of Seattle, Washingon as a teenager working on a fishing boat with my brother-in-law and have a handful of nieces that are half native. I agree with nonesuch00 and Wonderland and I don't claim to be an expert by any stretch, but in the same way you can't claim that all white people look the same, or all blacks, or Asians, you see a huge swath of diversity in Natives too. That said, there are stereo-typical traits in ANY race that help identify it as such. This Tennessee character is AWESOME and the PA should be applauded. I would love to see more and would probably buy them all. Would love some authentic apparel and accessories too. (What is in the store is fairly dated as far as materials and quality). I've done a couple of test renders with Tennessee and am eager to get some morph-blends going on. He is an exciting figure artistically.
I love the idea of a "Native American" character. I wonder if we'll find enough supporting stuff (Scenes, props, clothes, etc.) to go with him. I was a bit disappointed by the name Tennessee. I usually think of an historical (legendary) white person to go with that name.
Here are some old pictures with Native Americans. They are obviously staged for the photo shoot but it does show the different features of them all. The last is a painting by Charles Marion Russell of a woman, obviously stylized.
I think that Laurie got the ear lobe thing correct - I know the Cherokee in particular deliberately deformed the earlobes to accomodate jewelry traditionally, so that would certainly fit.
He's awesome! Can't wait to play around a bit more with him. Here's my first shot at him, pretty well "out-of-the-box"
Couldn't get his loincloth to cooperate very well though...
Wow, love that! Glad I picked him up. (Haha, that sounded like for a date lol.) I've been moving and my computer hasn't been hooked up for like a month and can't wait to play with all my new toys! (Why is everything sounding naughty to me now lol)
