What is the hair being used in the main ZsazSa picture (loads of very blonde hair falling over one eye)?  It isn't any of the ones mentioned on the additional products used in promo images.

@Scowlertoo: It looks like Haydina Hair with morphs dialed in, and the main promo must be reversed to put the part on the other side.

JAPWG (Just another pretty white girl) and the usual repeats of old, OLD, OLD offerings. (Sigh)

And there's not a single thing in the Pro bundle or the add ons that improve on anything I already have, so I'm outa' here.

Seriously?  She's obviously intended to be in in her late thirties/early forties and the texture work has the right degree of weathering and age spotting to show for it - there's some really great but subtle line work around the edge of the mouth and eyes, and her eyes have the right degree of puffiness. Better yet, both of the hair sets included in her Pro Bundle are a bit on the frazzled side to tie in with the Soccer Mom look, the outfits are actually age appropriate with no skimpwear to be seen anywhere and even one of the pose sets is something practical instead of the usual modeling shots.  Overall I think she's one of the most natural looking females DAZ has ever produced and the bundle is actually well thought out, so she was going in my cart even before I got a purple bar offer.

Edit - looking at the HD add on now - couldn't see it in the normal promos since it was always covered, but they've given her just a bit of a middle age spread and stretchmarks.  ZsaZsa seems to be the only real deviation from the soccer mom theme

couldn't agree more! My problem is that I have Alexandria and Sydney and have never really used them as i don't really have a need for older women in my projects

    Hello,

here are my two cents: what I liked about other pro bundles was that they were diverse in genre. What I mean by that: many bundles had something contemporary, something sci-fi, something fantasy. This pro bundle seems to have just one topic: mom in her 40s. For a pro bundle that is too flat for my taste. The pro bundle before, Leisa, had the very same problem. Therefore I skip both.

This is of course just my opinion. Oh, and I apologize for my non-native english :-)

    Best regards

Before, at least when Olympia 8 was released people were complaining that her bundles were too "varied" and seemed to want a unified theme to it. Now they have it.

Zsazsa is stand alone, Jenni 8 not required, not for the body nor for the head.

She's lovely, but I wonder why they put her in Jenni's bundles. I don't think I've seen other Daz Original bundles include anything but characters based on the new shape. I could have just missed them, though.

Zsazsa belies the fiction of the usefulness of add-on characters in Pro Bundles. They could easily have replaced her with Zilpha or Malin, the two other DO buyouts that require Jenni 8.

I agree. Only characters that require a lot of the base character (over 70% at the least) should be in the bundles.

Zsazsa being a pointless bundle character, is making me reconsider dumping my cart, and doing my own build-a-bundle. I really like Jenni.

Actually I rather prefer the bundles to have a proper theme, with some variance for utility. So I think that the bundle overall is OK for what it is. The overall deal is just ok, it could be much better, but Daz has had worse deals with DO releases (usually males...)

My issue is that while Jenni looks alright, she doesn't strike me as being remotely new or unique. We've had other characters her age and race before. Jenni appears to have a little better skin, but is it really? I am not so sure. While the dreaded Daz Orange is not present in Jenni (thank goodness), I'm not so sure her textures are actually better than those who came before. Bluejaunte's characters have raised my standards considerably, and those characters are all a step above almost anything the Daz Original lineup has released with very few exceptions.

If you think Jenni looks good, try her with almost any BJ character skin preset. I guarantee you will be blown away by the difference. I would bet money on BJ Murphy's skin looking absolutely stunning on Jenni. Her realistic skin with a little shadow under her eyes would be perfect for a busy soccer mom character. Seriously, I'd like to see someone post that combination here, I'm sure somebody here has Jenni and a few BJ characters in their runtime.

Mousso's Zsazsa is the most interesting one of the bunch to me. Which might sound odd to some of you because she is 'just another white girl'...but she kind of isn't. She has a distinct ethnic look to her that most Daz white characters lack. Zsazsa has a Slavic, Eastern European appearance which matches her Hungarian name. If Daz must keep making white girls for DO's, having one be so uniquely Slavic would be ok in my book, and they should probably let Mousso make it, too. She has a knack for nice ethnic characters. Which raises an interesting observation, Mousso's girls are quite popular, and while some of that may be how they have some celebrity look a likes, I think the other part of it is that many are uniquely ethnic, even the ones that have fair skin. That should prove that ethnicity can sell in the Daz store.

I was going to do a build-a-bundle, but I would only have saved $13. So, I figured I get the extra 8 items that I didn't care about for the $13 by getting the Pro Bundle.

@xyer0 I only had the Starter Bundle in mind because it had the hair and the two outfits I liked the most, plus Zsazsa. I was just gonna check out with Jenni and the two outfits, so I could pick up the HD. Still got to figure out all this math though.

@MimicMolly Well, then, that makes sensecents. I like that they gave us a Jenny-from-the-block outfit (dForce Casual Chic) for Jenni 8! Now, put that with Off Road Boots, and it will be smokin'!

I'm not so crazy about the look of AprilYSH's dForce hairs, though. But I haven't tried substituting new shaders.

I'll give that a shot if I have time this evening, as I own all of BlueJaunte's characters and the skins on them are, indeed, excellent.  However, wth the exception of Amala, they are all also either teens or younger adults and those skins clearly reflect that.  Murphy does have some good weathering and discoloration on her legs, but there's no significant age spotting, flawless neck and chest, and no laugh or frown lines, so the end effect will be quite different.

  • ok folks I goy confirmation of Zsazsa and Kira from Mousso, neither require Jennie at all. Actually she was suprised they released Zsazsa in the bundle

I only have one AprilYSH dForce hair because of PC for a day. I don't like the default colors it comes with, but I do like how it looks with ColorWerksX. (Same with the other dForce/SBH I have.)

I've decided to just get the Starter Bundle. IDK, I might end up using Zsazsa too, but I personally like to experiment with these "required base" characters. Dial-out the required base and mix in something else. The results are always interesting, and I have the base, just in case things don't work out.

Yeah, I heard. That's why I was hesitant to get the bundle in the first place. But if I wait, the deal may get less enticing later.

Jenni 8, another DAZ3D grand slam premier product with a Jennifer Garner look and feel added to my runtime. Fantastic 3D work Daz! Love her! She's great!

Just got a chance to demo Jenni 8. She's cuter than the promos make her look. NOT a superior skin out the box, but decent (actually, the least I would expect from a Core figure). The included materials for the eyebrows are flat and powdery, but the brows themselves are well done.

EDIT: She looked cuter because I bought and installed Zilpha, who is on 100% for all G8Fs now. Since Zilpha is cute, I may keep her, but I've bought her skin resource about 10 times already.

I was thinking of Jenni ... the reason I like her is the presentation. Good job there, of her being just a regular suburban mom. Her clothes fit that description as well. Sort of the maybe somewhat a few bucks type though, but not the glam/model woman with all the skimpwear. I love to see sexy women, but it is well overdone here overall, and just a suburban mom is a nice deal. Of course she can still wear the skimpwear and look mighty fine .

BUT, need some man stuff too.

You get weathering from normal maps. So the answer is to apply the Murphy preset, and simply replace Murphy's normal maps with Jenni's. You can dial the value above 1 as well. You can also apply the HD morph if you have it. You can do 1 of these, or both.

I do not have Jenni. So I will demonstrate this with one of Edie's add on characters, Dorothea. I did Edie as well, but her toony shape might throw people off. I think Dorothea shows this better anyway.

So here is Dorothea with Murphy's preset applied, and no further changes. Edie's HD morph is on and her subdivision is 3.

She does look nice, yes, but her skin may indeed look too smooth. So lets swap the normal maps like I described for Dorothea's. I dialed their value up to 2.

BANG! She looks completely different, and pretty darn amazing IMO. So try this with Jenni, and I guarantee you will be impressed.

Eh, here is a bonus pic of Edie, with Edie's normal maps applied just like above.

Looking good Edie! If I went without Edie's normals, she would actually look quite young!

Whoa, Edie as a younger gal. So you can see just what a difference the normal maps make. So make use of the normals you have.

Additionally, you could swap other textures back in for Jenni as well. You could try swapping the diffuse back in, it might be interesting. You edit the textures in photoshop and get rid of those moles. You can do all sorts of experimentation using BJ's girls as a foundation. It is really amazing just how versatile their skin textures and material settings are. And of course they are among the best around. I think Daz would do well to give bluejaunte a nice stack of cash for help on some future Daz Originals, if not outright buying a model for DO, perhaps try to learn his form of modeling wizardry and wield that power for greater good. So even if they do crank out legions of white girls, they will be new and improved white girls! LOL.

I am not joking. I truly believe that doing something like that could propel Daz Studio up quite a bit. I think more people would notice what Daz is selling and doing, and it could attract a new base of customers. If they are done right, even the more snobby 3D modelers would take notice. The Daz Original lineup IMO should be the best of what Daz can offer.

Outrider42's post on trying the BJ Murphy skin on Jenni 8 was something that I could immediately agree with, as I have done similar in the past and Bluejaunte's textures are amazing.

Of more interest though was his post on swapping the normals - something which I have never bothered to do.  With both of these in mind, I decided to do some testing with Jenni 8 and BJ Murphy.

Rather than derail this thread with loads of images that are maybe not of the Jenni 8 model, I'll put the test images in another thread and post a link back here.  However, I wanted to say "Thank you" to Outrider42 for his posts here.

New thread HERE if other people would like to post what they have come up with.
