Put a lot of work into my first and only submission . Guess she was "overdressed".

Know the feeling. I think I too over dress but that is fine with me, I know skin sells but just not my cup of tea.

However I do congratulate the winners as I know they spent just as much time as I did on their renders.

...is there any "official" announcement since it seems they are no longer posting the winners on the store page?

Haven't heard anything. I Wish they would at least let us know who the winners are somehow.

..yeah and let the rest of us see what we are up against.

I wish they'd just go back to the way the galleries were on the old site, at least then, a work had to be accepted to make it in and there were limits. Now anyone can simply upload as many pics as they want, so within a day what you posted gets buried several pages back and no one sees it anymore.

What point is there spending all the time to create something to show when it is "here today, gone tomorrow"?

I understand that. I have been trying to really improve my work and would like it seen more than what it is.

I didn't get to post to the old Galleries came in just a tad to late but they seemed easier to navigate as well as laid out better from what little time I got to spend on them.

And thank you for the kind words on my recent image. I wish the galleries let us reply directly to comments. And would you mind sending me the link to your recent entry I would love to know which one is yours :)

Seriously, are the contensts over. The advertisement says they will run through to the end of this year. What happened? It was fun. I miss it. The old forum, as I recall, had a monthly contest. Perhaps if the weekly one was costing Daz too much, they should go back to a monthly contest. Is it just me or does anyone else miss it also?

As far as I recall they spend a lot more in the old monthly contests than the new weekly ones. There were a lot of selected renders per category, per month.

    ...that is true.

Save for the old PC Gallery (where only the top three images of the month received a voucher), all submissions that were accepted to the galleries received a 25$ voucher. Multiply that times, say, 40 works just in the Daz Studio gallery alone (the one that usually had the most submissions) and that comes to 1,000$ per month. Add up the other galleries and the figure could easily be 2,500$ (or more) on average. As vouchers were only good for 50% the cost of PA items, Daz would be making back about 1,250$ a month in sales (less if they were also used for Daz Originals), so at best, the net expense for the progamme would be about 1,250$+ per month.

Another thing to remember is that vouchers covered half of the net cost of a PA item after any other discount was applied. So for example, during a big sale like March Madness or the Annual PA Sale, PA content with a full value of say, 30$ would only cost 7.50$. Hence one could get a fair amount of "mileage" out of a 25$ voucher, especially if other incentives like special coupons and/or discounts (such as an additional PA discount) came into play.

Now under the current system, 4 weeks at 170$ (100$, 50$, and 20$ for 1st second and 3rd place respectively) comes to 680$. As the PA discounts require a minimum purchase of 50$, 50$ and 20$ respectively, I did not figure them in. Even if they were all redeemed in a given month, that is only an additional 140$ outlay. Meanwhile, Daz makes actually makes back more (at least 360$) due to the minimum purchase requirement, Thus the "net" outlay for the four weeks could be as low as 460$ or lower depending on how much people spent over the minimum limit.

So yes the current arrangement is much more cost effective for Daz. than the old system was.

Note: keep in mind the above are all just estimates.
