I think people are forgetting that 18 and 19 is still teen. 18 and 19 year olds have died in wars to be considered an adult and given the right to vote in the US. So calling someone a "teen" should not automatically disqualify them as an adult, it is discrimination to do so. Plus Belle 6 did not have teen her name but she had anatomical elements, and Raven looks older than Belle who could be the real 18 year old. Raven looks more like a college (university) student in her early 20s. I don't recall anybody complaining about Belle having that texture.

The add on characters look more like teens, but that doesn't effect the base character.

I get what you are saying, but I think "discrimination" is a bit of an over statement. Considering adult age is 18. In technicality they are still teenagers, but they are also adults. Young Adults would be the proper word to descibe them.

My son started high school this year......and the teens there have a huge range of looks.

Some look like they belong in grade school.....others look like full on adults, guys taller than me with full beards, tattoos and pick-up trucks......so safe to say "Teen" range of looks is HUGE!

True, i knew both people who looked 25+ in their 17 and people who looked almost 15 in their 24 (my chemistry teacher was like that until he hit 30 and started wearing moustaches/beard).

    Different genetics, ecology, etc.

Hah!  Male teens are a myth.

A lot of good work in this one, many appealing figures, more add-ons that I want to buy than I need to qualify for the bonus... So much good stuff. A new backpack with the skater girl set! A good looking Sci Fi bodysuit. A nice new fantasy armor in the add ons. Many pretty faces.  So much good in this release.

And most importantly, she's well discounted and comes with a lot of free stuff. EVERYONE can get the pro bundle at the lower end of Daz addict price. (Our banner is extra free stuff this time.)

Non-aesthetic criticism aside, this is a superb release from Daz. A perfect release to capture new Daz customers, I think. Priced right and a lot of free stuff.

Old customers? Same criticisms, barely touching aesthetics of the figure or the bundle components.

I just have sooooooooooooo many females already that it's hard to get excited about yet one more. G8F already takes forever to load....

It's tough to keep one's enthusiasm for more of the same. I've got oodles of females, and they are all starting to look alike. So, it's not like we are complaining to complain. Some of us are just burned out over the females ;)

And FWIW, I don't think she looks like a teen either. I think Teen Jane was closer in that regard. But then I don't have Jane either (for the same reasons).

Thats fair but the past few "teen" characters look nothing like teens. Take https://www.daz3d.com/teen-jane-8-pro-bundle

For example. That lady looks like shes well on her way to her 50s....

To be fair with Jane...the character itself looks like a teen...but some of the make-up options push to giving her a more mature look    (though it could also be argued that teen girls like to experiment with makup...not always flattering :P  )

  • teen is SOOOO iffy as a "look."  I've known teens that looked like their moms (not the good way, the older way) and i've seen teens look like kids and their moms look like teens... genetics! I've learne for example here in Asia that people just look younger overall. Slimmer body type, shorter, petite, smoother skin/less acne, often less curvy... I can't say how often I'm embarrassed to call a parent a potential student before realizing its their daughter or son who was going to be in my class.... They always laugh and say "oh its okay i'd make that mistake too" but uh no they wouldn't because i def look my age. HA. Then there's my brother, he's got the curse of youthfulness, and even in his nearly 50 can pass for 25 easy. I had other friends who matured a lot faster in looks and lifestyle and looked much older for their age than I did at the same age. It's really just so many things.

That said, 'Teen' really encompasses a lot of age range- 13-18, which is wehre a LOT of physical changes can occur (note that I said CAN, some are late some early bloomers, never know!)  And PAs aren't given an exact "this age' anyway, so we can be more flexible and varied in our work and products. I did envision Summer as a bit younger. I had an older big sister type i was hoping to do but ran out of time (as it goes in life!).

Now pardon me, while I go apply face-rejuvenating facial mask, age-defying lotion, and exercise my facial muscles so I can avoid unseemly matronly wrinkles, so that I can try to blend in with my endlessly youthful glowing (yet older than me!) chinese friends. :P oh and not forget the arm covers and umbrella every time i face the sun lest i freckle, burn, or instantly age a decade beneath the sun's punishing light. (i'm only 5% joking).

I think Teen Raven and the others in this bundle are very pretty. I like that these new characters, adult or teen, have stopped looking all like slight variations of the 29 year old super model Victoria look or for teens, 10 - 14 year old children like Teen Josie 8. The look most people are calling all-encompassing teen is pre-teen to early teen. Yes, early teen is teen too but so is mid to late teen. Teen Raven looks like an average 15 - 29 year old female person, well if you exclude they are thinner and look taller (she's 5'6" so maybe it's the thinness then average look making an optical illusion) than average female 15 - 29 in the USA.

They remind me of the teen singer genre when I was at university in the mid-to-late 80s & early 90s like Debby Gibson (17 with 1st big hit) & Tiffany (16 with 1st big hit) for example.

I don't think people are forgetting this at all but I think calling a legal age character a teen would probably be a pitfall the store doesn't want to deal with. Most 18 and nineteen year olds don't use the term teen to describe themselves anyway

In this case daz store has marketed her as under age. based on this the assumption is that Raven is a minor.

I have my cart loaded up with my choices. I can't seem to figure out the marketing and the sales pitch for purchasing other Pro Packs, so I am just ignoring it. Just from looking at Raven's promo shots, she looks as if she is mixed race and the one showing her blended with other G8 characters enhance that. I will not pull the trigger until later today, have to head out. But, I hope I get some time to play with her and the other characters I chose.

As a note, I am one of those people, who when I turned 17, was asked if I was excited to finally be an official teenager, as the woman thought it was my 13th birthday. I was a Junior in High School then. And into my 30's I was carded. And even today, I am often believed to be ten years younger than I am.

I dont see why they try to pass her off as a teen Character. Good character yes, but hardly a teenager. Speaking of Teenagers. I'm making one now right as I am reading this thread. Far from done, but shes looking decent so far... I'm aware some of her proportions are off. I'm still making her.

She’s absolutely adorable but looks about twelve to me...  Sooo cute though!

What do you refer to as college? in different countries different things are called as college. In France college is more like middle school, while - i guess - you meant place where you study between school and university or instead of university?

College and university are the exact same thing in the US. Four years, age 18-21for most students. So technically 18 &19 year-olds are still teenagers.

Oops should have read everything first. This was already discussed...

Oh you did Summer! I love her. Since she is featured in the main promo, I think a lot of people thought that WAS Raven and she probably should have been. She looks much more like a teen, fits the goth look better and is much better looking. Congrats on your great character!

In the US, the difference between college and university is that universities offer post graduate programs. That's why there is both a Rutgers College AND a Rutgers University.

@Wonderland - yeah, thanks, it's ~ same here where am i, but just wanted to clear things out (cause of this example with France, but in France they also call "Baccalauréat" what you get when finishing school WHILE for example in Russia Baccalauréat is 4 years of university.. It's crazy how same words/terms have such different meanings in different places of world!)

    Now some joking thought...

...i wonder what abeforementioned Gen Z (modern teens or young adults) would comment on these daz characters packs laugh i ve no idea how many use daz, i only remember some (modern youth) artist who used daz as reference figures and poses for their traditional media drawings.

The average age of college students in the us is still 18-24 however the age of enrollment at for profit universities is split between that age range and students over 30.

There are a lot of older students going back to get degrees moreso than there used to be.

I was always tall for my age so when I was 11, I could pass for 15, at 15 people thought I was in my early 20’s and in my early 20’s some thought I was 30 (which I hated! ) But luckily by 30, things started to reverse and since then people think I’m younger than I am. And I still FEEL like a teenager lol.

But as varied as real life people can look, characters to be rendered should actually look the age that they are advertised for. I doubt many people would think Raven was under 20 if they were not told she was a teen. Summer, Aven and Shea actually do look like teens.

  • Thanks Wonderland! I am newish at a lot of this and still bumbling around half the time. I'm glad you like her! :)  LIke I said before... and before i ever saw the materials Raven comes with... the shape Raven has is just really well done. :)

Nonsense! Is that something like, that weird and bizarre saying that one needs to stop buying shoes at some point? That phrase makes no sense to me whatso ever. I don't think it's even in English.

  • No buy for me...the core body's face looks exactly like Babina's and I already have that character.

  • TEEN BABINA

  • Raven looks more like a 23 yr old college student, rather than a teen. Generally, teens still have a bit of a babyface even into their late teens, though not as noticeable. The proportions of her face look far too mature for what she's being marketed as.
I attached some examples of what I mean by teens still having a bit of a babyface.

Ouch, touche. No, i'll agree with an answer that it's just on some promos with makeup you get such impression.

  • Ok. I bought pro, with the trimmings. I had ultirior motives. Though I probably may not ever use Raven's or her character shapes, the materials. outfits and poses were too perfect to pass up. My character is a young teen, and finding clothes, poses, and especially youthful skin that works for her is tough. So for me the bundle was perfect. Just as singling out, CDI's poses for this character are truly exceptional in capturing youthful attitude and body language, and Zeddicus poses are the best they've done for the teen characters so far. Very pleased! Thanks!
