Centaur Maxx and Solar Wardens - Where have you been all my life?

So glad I opted not to buy the Centaur 8 Pro Version and just bought the standalone male centaur. Centaur Maxx is absolutely stunning, especially with the gradation between the human torso and horse body. I wasn't expecting this at all...but wow...it was everything I have been dreaming of. And then, of course, the Solar Wardens was the icing on the cake. It really felt like Christmas today.

It good to see people buys because they like the products, and not because of the price. Thanks you !
I totally agree. And the hair included is just tops.
Whoa, I didn't notice the transition. I definitely want this, but there are so many dependencies that it won't be any time soon. Solar Wardens looks good, but I doubt I'd ever use it.
I've got to agree completely. When I saw the Solar Wardens for Centaurs yesterday my first thought was "I NEED this."
Today, seeing the Centaur Maxx I am blown away by the attention to detail - as is always the case with Hellboy's products.
I think I would add Rawart's Annicellea Centaur to the list of "must buy" centaur products.
I can't seem to find a commercial product page for Centaur Maxx to ask questions about the product, so if anyone buys him can you please advise me if you are having any issue with the skin blend script. I have changed Maxx's skin tone to one from the Maxx HD mega pack and then used the skin blend script from the Centaur product as it states in the docs which come with him, but I'm getting a strange shaped white sheen on the render. I have tried to apply the skin blend to the parent and also to the male centaur body, but it comes up the same. I wonder if I should be applying it to a particular surface. Is it permissable to ask the vendor directly? not sure how to do this.
Other than this one small point...this product ROCKS!
Thank you very much! :D
Your Male Centaur Body's 1Coat Material is using the Torso Maps. I tried different scenarios and can´t replicate your issue, but applying the Skin Blend scrip on either the character, or the Male Centaur Body are applying the corresponding 1Coat maps, so I am not sure how how you got there or why the script is not helping you. Both things are strange. Feel free to send me a message if you want :)
Boy oh boy, Maxx' Centaur add-on looks goooooood...
I usually don't buy things I doubt I'd ever use, except when they're part of a bundle. Funny thing is, I seem to get as much use out of those as the products I buy 'cause I know I'll use 'em! I don't do much with Scifi, but I'm pretty sure the Solar Wardens product is going to end up in my runtime, sooner or later.
I have Maxx, and I bought the C8 pro bundle yesterday, so the Centaur Maxx is a must buy. But even if I didn't have those, I think I'd buy Centaur Maxx anyway, for tail! Finally, a horses tail that actually looks like a horses tail! (I hope Hellboy decides to create a mane, too. You know, for Maxx-taur's horse buddies…)
Yeeeep...I wasn't gonna grab the centaurs since I already have the 7 version. Then....Maxx arrived. Dannnnnngggg.......Maxx is already awesome himself, but the horse details on that are AMAZING. And the blend is SO good. I wonder if the war paint is useable or regular Maxx? I would assume so.
Arrgg Hellboy, you're killin' my wallet over here :)
I have a qutesion about the Centaur Maxx, if anyone has him... is it possible t just have the horse body covered by the cyber-outfit, so that it looks like a cyber-horsebody and a flesh human upper torso?
I think you meant Solar Wardens
Maxx is awesome but I still haven't gotten the brute to get the Maxx figure let alone the Centaur to use this
Same, I was going to pass on the centaurs, but MAXXtaur and CC's Shapes/Breeds really lured me in. Really digging all the horsey stuff.
I'd say this is the closest you will get, you just delete the helmet gloves and G8M upper body armor but there is some left over textures on the shell sorry.
Curiousity for anyone who picked up Maxx...
Can the tail and feathering of the hooves on Maxx easily be used on Daz Horse 2?
How does the Maxx settings look if you only have the base centaur, and not the Brute?
As a side note, the transition from horse to human looks excellent on him. :-D
I have had Maxxtaur in my paddock all afternoon and I am still so very astounded by the extremely high detail and quality of this product. I've been tweaking and changing so many things. It really is top tier and should have been the standard Centaur 8 that was sold. Here is just a really quick render with the Brute taken out and a bit of a bodybuilder morph added to it and with the Markos character features.
Oh, thank you, I think that would work for the character I have in mind, perhaps with some texture editing.
Oops, yes, you are right, I mean the Solar Wardens... Though the Centaur Maxx looks aweseome.
I'm really itching to buy the entire Centaur bundle and assorted items because the characters looks really amazing. But it's not even September and we have barely scratched the surface of the PA sale, and ... and such a binge purchase would deplete a lot of my 3D budget for this quarter.
I don't have the prerequisites for Centaur Maxx, but would like to thank the artist for including the feathers! :)
Centaur Max is so good! Thank you Hellboy. Can we have Maia centaur pretty please?
As pointed out in another thread RAWart does say you can use the horse part without Maxx just with limitations for the human part, something to consider if I buy any of the Centaur stuff in the future when I have a reliable computer
I don't have Maxx purchased yet...so dont think it was me commenting abotu it
Oops I actually meant Hellboy
For some reason, I got a similar look after I saved the scene, restarted DS and then loaded the scene is Centaur Maxx back up again. Not sure if this is the optimal way to fix it, but I selected Centaur Maxx HD in the Scene tab, then selected Centaur Maxx HD and Male Centaur Body in the Surfaces tab, and then applied the Centaur Maxx Skin Blend, followed by Centaur Maxx Transition Smooth Maxx. Possibly all of those steps are not necessary, but it worked.
<Sound hunting trumpets> Photoshop to the rescue! I do this technique all the time.
1. Render Centaur scene with centaur/human textures. Save result.
2. Add Solar Wardens outfit and render without changing ANYTHING else. Save result.
3. In Photoshop lay the Solar Wardens image over the plain centaur image and use layer masking to blend/show/hide until you have the image you wanted, but couldn't get in DAZ Studio.
Might be over-obvious, but it is a way to get the shot. I don't see DAZ Studio as the ONLY way to get an image. I use 3D and photography and any means necessary to get the final image. If I get a chance this weekend I will do something up, but it is a crazy busy weekend... Still...
For all of the centaur content that I bought today, I have only been able to work with Centaur Maxx this afternoon. I wanted to use him in a scene with realistic grass rather than just a HDRI. This has proved difficult because as soon as I click "render" my RAM usage goes up to 32 Gigabytes (which is the amount I have), and of course the graphics cards are kicked out. That said, the morphs on this figure are so detailed that I didn't want to compromise.
I finally managed to get a balance between what I actually wanted in the scenery, and what my machine is capable of. I can't say it enough times - Centaur Maxx is one of the best quality figures that I have seen in a long time. Tomorrow is time for trying out the releases from Midnight_stories and RawArt.
Man, I was going to pass on the centaurs this time around, not because they weren't great but just because I have the 7th generation ones and don't use them enough... but with Maxx I may have to rethink this.
**For those that have him already, since it sounds like the tattoos are an overlay, do they work fine with the human Maxx?
I don't have Maxx right now... but for any G8M, go to the Centaur Shell and Turn Torso -> OFF under Visibility.
Since the attach file uploader isn't working for me, I won't share my terrible 2 minute render.
Yep the tattoos work on human Maxx
I initially thought the same - because I had the centaur 7s and don't use them much I wasn't going to buy. It was the PA add-ons that convinced me.
The tatoos and face/body paint work fine with original Maxx and look pretty good.
The only area where I've had a problem is in trying to apply the warpaint from Dolb to Centaur Maxx. I've used these on lots of other characters, but with Centaur Maxx it changes the skintone. Easily fixed by applying one of the warpaints that come with the Centaur Maxx and then changing it over in the Materials tab.
Once more... darn Edge browser. I keep meaning to throw Firefox on here...
Anyway, Centaur Shell -> Visibility-> Torso OFF.
This is the terrible 2 minute render, no work/stuff to cover the transition area... but it shows you what the Shell is doing.
It's clever. The Solar Warden texture uses the Shell for the armor stuff on the torso.
EDIT: That is a Genesis 3 pose for Centaur 7. You only need the normal adjustments between G3M and G8M. The centaur body is fine with the posing.
