Arsenic is a naturally occuring element.  The small amounts in natural water sources is normally nothing to be concerned about, as far as I know.  But after going through a treatment plant, I don't know.  I don't know why they would add any to drinking water.  Seems corporations add all kinds of crap to our food and water.  Makes you think they don't want long lasting customers.

I'm starting to think that The Forces That Be are trying to get me to stop playing with my virtual dolls for the moment, and focus more on working on my friend's and mine debut novel. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing.

I am wondering if a dude is not wearing anything does that mean he is naked?  This render is of a happy dude even though he is not wearing a stich of clothing.

That would be called "a nude".

But he's really wearing a fur coat.  He's just able to grow his own, doesn't need to have it shaved off so it can be weaved into an article of clothing in order to wear it, can wear it 24/7, and, best of all, he can even bathe with it on!

Dogs are like what most guys want to be.  We wouldn't have to do anything but play, protect the family, and look cute.  Oh, and most importantly, don't poop on the floor; that seems to upset a lot of humans.  But other than that, life couldn't be simpler!

I don't want to damage kidneys either.  But at over a half-century old, I figure most of the damage has already been done.  If I'm able to avoid drinking antifreeze for the next five decades, I'll probably be okay and they'll last me another half-century, easy.  wink

But at some point, I stop believing everything I hear or read.  Realistically speaking, my greatest risks these days are being involved in a car accident, being a victim of a violent crime (or more likely, being injured while defending myself from a violent crime), or getting food poisoning by unclean practices at a restaurant or even in my own kitchen.  Care and diligence should be an ALWAYS ON kind of thing, even for good cooks!

We're living longer than humans ever have in the past.  But just think back over the last couple decades (I'm assuming everybody here is old enough to remember the last 20 or 30 years or so).  What have we been told?

    • Coffee is bad for you.  A month later, coffee is good for your heart.
    • Wine is good for your heart.  But if you drink more than two glasses a week, then you're going to get fat or you must have a problem with alcohol.
    • Margarine is good for you.  We heard that in the 1960s, so an entire generation of kids grew up on margarine.  But now we know that it's actually worse for us than butter!  Today I cook only with butter and canola or olive oil.  No margarine, no "Pam", ick.  And actually, my skin has never been more clear!
    • Don't get me started on the "food pyramid", which showed us in the 60s and 70s that we should be eating more carbohydrates than anything else.

At some point, I've gotta ask, were we just kind of foolish, or did it go deeper than that?

But even so and even through all this, it's amazing that we haven't killed ourselves off.  Like the Chinese emperor (Was it Chin?) who was eating lead or mercury at the recommendation of his advisors, thinking it would grant him power and strength.  In spite of ourselves, we have still gained knowledge over time.  We have learned and re-learned.  And now we're actually living longer.

But even after all that, I am naturally suspicious, so my personal rule is:  When some new proclamation comes out, wait 20 years to see if we still believe it.

Remember the cabbage and grapefruit diets?  Yep, those were about 24 years ago.  Today, nobody in the office is extolling the virtues of those as the solution to Eternal Life anymore.  Really, cabbage all the time?  surprise But we came to our senses and today cabbage is a tasty side dish and a great in-oven container for cooking meatloaf, while grapefruit is back to its proper role as a breakfast food, squeezed into a glass, or as an anytime snack.  I love a huge juicy Ruby Red while I'm watching a movie.  Only at home, of course.  I can't seem to order a grapefruit at my local cinema.  cheeky

The jury is still out on salt, as far as I'm concerned.  No, of course I don't overdo it because I know it can cause water retention which is not healthy.  But I recently tried putting a little salt on my steaks and chicken quarters right before they went under the broiler, and OMG, how delicious!

So in about another 15 years we might actually learn if beets are good for us in quantity, and we might learn if vaping really is harmless for us.  I'm pretty sure neither is the Fountain of Youth, but until then, I'll be very patient.  In the meantime, I'm not planning to start making beet-toddys and I'm not planning to start vaping.

I guess maybe not everyone got one of those coupons.  I didn't.  Doesn't matter, 10% isn't much in the scope of things...nor is 20%.  I can't even afford things with 50% off coupons lately.

    Music to DAZ by

Non-complaint:  Stumbled across a YouTube of a TED Talk lecture about "The Transformative Power of Classical Music" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9LCwI5iErE&t=415s  The lecture is funny and entertaining and informative.   It's 20 minutes but in the middle of it is a simple analysis of a short prelude by Chopin* and why it's so engaging.  Fascinating talk.

The particular Chopin prelude discussed is the #4 (in E minor) and here's a separate YouTube of the prelude. It's only 2 minutes 20 seconds and is worthy of having in our memory's hoard.

    Frederic Chopin:Prelude Op. 28 #4 in E-minor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90wBhBZjAUQ

    *Chopin: pronounced "show-pan"

** Op. 28 #4 --- "Opus 28 #4 ---  Wikipedia: "Opus: a separate composition or set of compositions by a particular composer, usually ordered by date of publication."  So, "Op. 28 #4" is the fourth composition in the 28th book of music pieces published by the composer.

I noticed that external USB hard drives are cheaper than internal SATA hard drives.  Maybe I can buy another external USB hard drive and put my backup files on that drive.

I am looking for a importing Genesis 8 into hexagon or blender video on YouTube.  I am searching on my tv and having issues such as selecting clear instead of search which does not help a thing.  Crap, now my roommate wants to sleep but it is not six pm yet.  I do not want to be quiet just for her.  Another crap my goldfish is choking on a rock.  I cannot focus on my tv when he has a rock stuck in his mouth!

Good news reguarding the goldfish, he managed to get the rock out of his mouth without my aid, but it looks like he is a bit tired from the ordeal.  He got it out from his mouth as I was trying to figure out how to help him.

Now back to looking for the G8M development base to see if I can create a G8M character with it.

Maybe he was just sucking on it.  Like cows lick salt blocks to get sodium into their diet.  After all, I've had people tell me to "go suck an egg", probably because they sensed that I needed calcium. indecision

Non-complaint: Thursday night I had a peer suport come to help me with some of my life issues.  Complaint: it feels like the staff of the home is trying to derail me from the help my peer support is trying to give me.  I am trying a holistic approach but that does not work for her.

Edit: my dad misread the manual.  He doesn't like to read manuals.

Online store sent my dad the wrong item.  My dad is not following my suggeston to return it for a refund.  I'm not sure what he is doing now.  Let me fill out the return form and bring the box to the UPS store.  They'll return to product for free.

Is it rude to be deliberately rude to someone who rings your door to tell you that your roof sucks (it’s fine actually) but they can fix it, despite the fact you have a sign that says “No Soliciting”...

    Yeah, I didn’t think so...

I want to put a sign right under the doorbell that says “Go ahead, ring the damn doorbell, let’s see what happens this time...”

My wife won’t let me because she says that sounds confrontational or “crazy”... well, that’s okay, because then I get to be confrontational and crazy in person...

I’m really getting tired of people ringing the doorbell and giving them a lecture about reading signs, the meaning of soliciting, disturbing people about scammy nonsense and perhaps reevaluating their career choices and then having the idiot go around to the side door and knock on it... then me having to inform them that some houses have more than one door (also with a no soliciting sign), and there are limits to my thinly stretched patience...

Lately there have been all sorts of roaming “salespeople” going through my neighborhood trying to sell various ap based services like security, pest control or home maintenance... you know... stuff that has already existed for decades, but now because they misspell the name of the company and attach it to the Internet Of Things, it’s suddenly new and amazing... there have been three different internet based pest control “services” knocking on my door these past two weeks... The names of these companies just sound like a drunk college kid made them up at 4 am... There is being cute or clever with the spelling and then there is me having to read or say the name several times before I get it... and one I still don’t because it implies they cause your pests to mutate and evolve... thanks anyway, but the quantum spacial anomaly in the basement is doing that on its own.

Between these idiots and the clowns with scammy spoofed numbers calling all the time, my patience is pretty much gone...

Speaking of scammy, I keep getting texts from some jackasses pretending to be KeyHero trying to get me to go to their website... the other day I got twelve texts in a row, about 30 seconds apart... while I was driving... since I don’t read texts while driving, and my phone is on my belt, that was 24 times in row my phone buzzed me...

I hope those individuals are mauled to death by dachshunds... mainly because it would take forever and would be an extremely stupid and humiliating demise.

Okay... I guess that’s enough complaining.
