Never trust windows. It lies and whines about every non-MS product. I have Norton (which can be a pain in the butt) and it logged Carrara as safe.

As was stated by someone else, it was probably a security policy put on by the company she works for.  Shouldn't be playing with Carrara while on the company's dime, anyway.  Just my opinion.

    I agree with this.

And when you are using a company computer (laptop, tablet, etcetera), make no mistake...even the most seemingly disorganized IT departments could be getting some help seeing what people are doing during work hours.  There are many tools to help with this problem, ranging from software keyloggers to USB memory-stick detectors, and comprehensive asset management tools that look for non-standard software on any device on the network.

The issue of lost- productivity has only gained visibility amongst upper management in the last 10-20 years because back then, when those people weren't managers yet, they had co-workers who were doing non-work stuff during work hours, maybe even to the point where it made everybody else have to cover for the people not doing their assigned work.

Don't do it.  And if you get caught doing it, don't try to foist it off on somebody else with a lame excuse.  But know that in today's business climate, you could lose your job for it.

If you love this kind of stuff so much that you want to do it during work hours, why not consider a career change and do it legitimately?  Not only will you not get fired for doing something you love, you'll also get better at something you do for 8+ hours per day and you'll get paid for it too, right?

    Cromwell cam,e after Henry?

Ypu'd think after his 3rd and 4th wife, perspective brides would double think it

No the Henrys were spaced out, Henry the first was the 11 and 12 century Henry VIII was the 16C.

I have a feeling that he was referred to as Hal especially as a Prince.

They probably were but didn't have much choice; his third wife died in childbirth or shortly after; his fourth he divorced and she lived long after him quite comfortably, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr were both slightly reluctant brides 5 and 6, he beheaded the Catherine Howard but Caterine Parr outllived him.

He only beheaded 2 of his wives.

And yes Cromwell came after Henry.

Divorced beheaded died divorced beheaded survived    was how we learned the 6 wives.

Am I an awful person for laughing at that?

No.  You're just newly English. devil

Non-complaint:  Music to DAZ by.  Poking around in my music collection again and came up with the "Swan of Tuonela" by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.  Slow and melodic.  Very woodwindy sound, drowsy, calm, gliding, sad, resigned.

You can get a starter tatooing kit for less than $55.  Now THERE is something to fall back on if your day job doesn't work out.

My only question is, do you practice before taking on customers?  surprisewink

Brilliant!  Maybe I'll do that, specialize in cartoon characters, and call it, "Inks and Toons" or "Tat's All, Folks!"  I'll have a subheading, "Welcome to our Perfect Practice" and call myself the "spelling champion tatooist", make spell check a thing you can order, and levy a surcharge for proofreading your tatoo during project planning.

"A misspelled tatoo is worse than a poorly drawn tatoo", I always say!

I'll know I've hit the big-time when Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, the X-Men, Justice League, My Little Pony, Webster, and grade school teachers across the nation file their class action infringement suit!

Complaint: No power.  We’re one of the 51,000 Suffolk County PSE&G customers without power now...  We went away to NYC and apparently all hell broke loose while we were heading back.

We came home to find the tree in the front had lost a lot of giant branches... it’s a huge red oak tree and the branches are the size of small trees... An equally tall tree from my neighbor’s property snapped and took out a lot of my stuff in the back... everything is a damned mess.

The whole neighborhood is full of downed trees and debris... apparently there were either microbursts or a small tornado touched down...

Internet service is cell phone only and it is really spotty at the moment... I still don’t know what happened. Maybe tomorrow I’ll find out... this was not what I was looking forward to for the week.

Well at least I got the generator running....

    Later folks.

As a matter of fact yes.... about a mile and a half from here there is one... it’s really odd too...

It’s right off Main Street right next to the water, adjacent to where the fishing boats dock... it’s also sandwiched between a funeral home and a fast food place... it’s not a very large one, but it’s so exposed to the bay, it’s like sitting there inviting disaster....

Yet, during the last two hurricanes and the numerous nor’easters, it’s remained unscathed... it incurred no obvious damage yesterday... well, the whole back half could be underwater since you have to go down the road next to a canal to see that... but otherwise it looks like it regularly does.

I guess as far as trailer parks go, it’s not a half bad idea... seaside living, a very nice view of the bay... I guess as long as you aren’t concerned about storm surges, high winds and sea monsters, it’s not a bad thing.

    Dana

Actually it looks worse... I went in the back this morning and got a better look at the damage.  The tree fell right on top of this thing...

Its hard to describe what that is exactly, but in the early 00s I was making outdoor G scale (1/2 in = 1 ft) garden railroad layout and outdoor water features... this thing was a huge module about 18’ x 20’... (it was designed to separate into four smaller transportable sections)... it had a waterfall, a trestle bridge, a whole miniature forest, full miniature lighting, a working scale drainage system, and a working irrigation system (miniature sprinklers).... It also had a G-scale track setup and scale roadways for some 1/24 scale radio control cars I made... The special “gimmick” about this verses other methods of building garden railroads was normal garden railroads are built on the ground or the ground is built up using tons of dirt....  this used modular sections that were lightweight and mostly hollow... all the stonework, and landscape that wasn’t actual drift, was sculpted high strength cement over a foam shell... you could kick, climb on it and hammer it and it wouldn’t break... all the structures were cast in a specialty epoxy reinforced concrete that allowed the structures to be stone, but retaining scale wall thickness... interiors were mostly fully detailed.

Aslo differing from other setups, everything was at tabletop to chest height... as opposed to most garden railroads which is floor level... the reason for that was most of the people I built custom train models for were well over 50 and doing maintenance is a lot easier if you don’t have to bend and kneel... also at that level everything is more or less eye level as opposed to looking down on it like you are in a helicopter, so details are way more fun, noticeable and interesting.

Over the years it had endured a lot of abuse by the elements. At one point a different tree (also from the same neighbor) was dropped on it.... that did a lot of damage, but it was a much smaller tree and mostly the top.

After that it was never the same... the electrical system never worked right because it had so many breaks and splices, the irrigation system eventually had to be removed and replaced with a more conventional system because it to had so many breaks and patches.  At one point there was even a mini forest fire because water damage to one of the buildings caused a short. Apparently the weight of the tree caused so many cracks water got into too many places and most of the lighting didn’t work anymore... it was built to take a beating, but not a tree sitting it.

Recently I had started repairing it because one of my daughters really liked it... but this literally crushed all hope of repair... the trunk of the tree went right through it... the diameter is well over two feet, so that’s tons of wood, plus the thick branches crushed everything the trunk didn’t.

Even if I get money from the insurance, which would be pennies in relation to what effort went into it... I’m kinda bummed out... I know it seems like a stupid landscaping project or whatever, but it was something I put a lot of effort and time into... I don’t call myself an artist, but there was a level of artistic attachment I had to it... it’s like spending months sculpting a huge statue of Spongebob Squarepants and then having storm topple it.

Megh... It served it’s purpose back in the day, I guess nothing lasts forever.

Also, sorry for the long post.

Hmmmm...  It’s not the same, but there was a small area that was meant to look like some conspiracy theorist’s compound... there was an old VW minibus with a shanty attached to it... eventually I turned it into a small junkyard with old abandoned cars and a crazy old junkyard coot living in the shanty. Nobody ever got the conspiracy thing and the damned squirrels kept on knocking off all the antennas and the satellite dish. I briefly thought about making a few trailers, but I’d have to use thin plastic for the bodies, and after time that warps from heating cooling... I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t do that.... if one vw microbus attracts a whole tree top, image what a whole scale trailer park would.

Where are all the birdies?... I was driving around with my windows open and I was thinking it feels like late August or early September... I was wondering why.... then I noticed not a peep from any birds... no singing, cheeping or guitar solos.... nuttin...

    Eerie...

Then again, yesterday I noticed a total lack of pigeonage in NYC.... someone spilled takeout container of rice on Times Square and it was just festering in the sun... no pigeons devouring it.

What The Fugecake?... I later saw four or five pigeons (including on club foot zombie pigeon) but no flocks hanging out in the park or in front of the library... that was creepy.

Maybe something is eating all the pigeons and the club footed pigeon wasn’t delectable enough?

    Or the pigeons abandoned NYC...

I’m wondering because right now I’m looking out the back door and there is a tiny moving van parked out back and squirrels are loading it up with their furniture... it’s got tiny North Carolina plates, so I’m thinking maybe they know something we don’t.
