He looks good, @Llynara! I love the soft orange glow. It really sets him and the hair off. I'm really impressed with how the body hair looks. Nice job.
Thank you! I can't stop staring at Jacob. He's on my desktop, distracting me at the moment, begging for more stories to be written. The poor guy is lonely for a few more books due to his powers, but finally gets to have fun too (and does he!) I just need many more hours in my day to write and render all this stuff, LOL
I do the same - put my new renders on my desktop. I also know what you mean about enough hours in the day. Face it, for us creative types, even if we did nothing BUT create all day, there STILL would not be enough hours in the day.
Was playing with Slosh's new Colorwerks hair shaders last night. I have a few characters in my books with reddish-blond hair. Most shaders make it look pink or like a big glob of orange. I wanted to show both the red and gold in the hair. This is even more challenging on my twin energy shifters, Jacob and Jared, who have curly hair and glow due to their powers. Here's Jacob with ColorWerks on the hair and PhilW's Hair Lustre shaders over top of it at a very low translucency. I also put Hair Luster over the body hair (Oh My Body Hair by Redz) and Supernatural Brows to give a golden look over the red. The model here is Darwin's wonderful Iain for Michael 7, one of my favorites. Such an incredibly versatile character. Very few could pull off that hair!
Now if I can just find a good way in Iray to give people a glowing outline, that would be great. I usually render the character without a background and add in postwork. I didn't do that here, as I was just playing with the hair. I think it came out good. And those pants! They are Streetwear Jeans for Genesis (made by Stonemason.) They are the best looking textures I've ever seen on jeans, and they were made before Iray came out. That's the default conversion- I did nothing to them except bump up Sub-D a notch.
It's been to long since I visited your thread. You have all kinds of awesome things going on here including him
Awww, thank you, Trish! I think that's one of my favorite male renders yet. Love our guys, and they need more attention. They tend to get pushed aside for all things girly, which is great, but sometimes, we just need some hunky 3D men hanging about!
Really like the lighting effect you've got on this one
Thanks, Noswen! That's a combination of DAZ + postwork. On the DAZ side, I used Fabiana's Energy Flow spotlights and utilities for the rendering settings. I also used DA's Real World Lighting. On the postwork side, I use Topaz Star Effects, Glow, and Textures quite a bit. I love those products. The background is actually a sky photo that I stuck in the Environment tab. I got lucky and the sun was right behind his head. I haven't figure out if you can move those around at all.
The prince waited. He stepped up to the tower. In a voice that sounded as much like the witch as he could, he called out, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel! Let down your hair!” In a moment, the same long blond braid came out of the window.
@Lynara You're an author and an amazing artist? Colour me just a little bit jellus. I love the picture of your red-haired hunk! (And totally had to get those jeans, even if I've placed myself on shop-stop.)
Ya, I am going to save this for when I'm laying by the pool in a couple of weeks. It deserves a whole afternoon to itself lol. If you guys haven't read the first one, make sure you get it too, its really really good!

Aww, thank you! I got into DAZ specifically to do cover design. I couldn't find the right heroes for books! And I've been addicted to 3D ever since. I do find that it helps me visualize my characters and enhances my writing. Love it!
I'm glad you love Jacob as much as I do. He's a major character in my Black Kat series, and has a mischievous twin brother (Jacob is the sweeter one.)
@GriffinAvid - Glad you like! that's entirely DAZ and Photoshop. All of the techniques I used are documented in my Patreon tutorials.

Oh, thank you IceDragon! I hope you enjoy it and don't melt in that Florida sun!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted on this thread for a while. It's been a busy couple of months. I became a DAZ PA back in September and my first joint products with DivaMakeup came out last month. Note: My name won't be listed on these until I have my own solo products. Probably next year. This one is almost over!
I used one of the Ready to Render scenes to do a promo for one of Kaleya's outfits this week. Very handy for promo artists or anyone who likes portraits:
I was thrilled when DivaMakeup asked me to do poses for this set. Her Altern8 products are very good and Girl 8's does not disappoint! The makeups, skintones, and face morphs are really fun to play with. This set is also on sale this weekend. Love the lighting and the hair on this one, especially the body hair. Great red/gold shades on the curls - well done.

That is a beautiful cover @Llynara.
Woot can't wait to read it!
Always loved that cover!
Thank you all! I'm very excited to finally have this book done. Now I have to go pound my head on the next one, and its cover! LOL

Great angle! Dragonbraid - thought you used that. As long as it is, it won't quite reach.
When you think about it, Rapunzel had one freakin' strong neck.
Ha ha! Definitely!

You two make a great team!

Tweaked the tagline. I think this one works better for the book:
