I really like these babies! That might be a minority view in this thread, but with a bit of tweaking, and careful attention paid to posing and expression, these babies are great.

Show us some examples! I'm eager to see cuteness.

    I agree.

But I am very dissapointed in some of the dforce clothing I picked up. It behaves very badly and is really difficult to get to perform well when posing. I fell I would get better results with old fashion conforming clothing.

I'm rendering something now, give me another hour...

  • I'm late to the party, it seems... still, I have to say...

Damn!  Those are UGLY.  The jaws are massive.  The knee wrinkles would look better on a pug's face.  They are all clearly obese... definititely the parasitical twin.  Not newborns.  I wouldn't even call them babies.  Toddlers of the kind that parents feed Slurpees to to keep them quiet...

I really hate to be so negative, but - did no one look at babies, first?

I agree with you that alot of the uncanny valley problem is the tendency to use adult poses in the promos, along with some REALLY bad choices on the facial expressions. It was probably inevitable, since the more realistic baby pose sets were not necessarily completed when the promo artists were doing their thing, and it looks they mostly selected adult poses that they thought would look cute/ridiculous on a baby rather than weird. But it definitely does't help sell the product.

That's it exactly, I think. The models themselves are great, but you have to pay attention to how babies are in the real world. Especially their facial expressions, but also how they hold their bodies. Once you do that, these babies look really great.

Hmmmm...now I'm thinking I should do a set of baby expressions and poses...

This is a definite buy for me. Been waiting for one for so long. LOL, as a newborn, my son was 10 lbs and 6 oz and let me tell he did not look like a newborn with his full head of hair on his cabbage kid face. At 3 weeks he was already wearing clothes for 3 month to 6 months old. The only critique about the babies for me are the faces aren't wide enough for truly chubbie cheeks. But I've seen lots of 6 to 18 months that look like the new Daz babies and I'm not surprise if they are based on someone's beautiful child.

Baby Caryn "out of the box":

    Adorable! Really helps sell it.

I have Genesis Baby and I'm not sure why people are pining for it. Also the other babies in other stores... really, guys?

Thanks, you made a cute image, and I laughed at the strongman concept. Well done.

I woke up this morning all excited over what the sale of the day would be ... and then I see these fat and not very attractive or cute characters posing as newborn babies.

    PASS.

I will apologize to the creators, but babies shouldn't eat donuts at that age.
the two that look decent , as stated previously, from Virtual World and Redz have the chin reduced a lot. makes a huge difference. I would maybe buy those but the fat legs are still there.

Next ... Caryn and Tobyn adults?

It would really help if these babies had hair. And no, I don't mean what's already available. The short, wispy hair that's just starting to come in. Sometimes it's the details that can make or break, Babies 8 looks extremely fake.

These baby and parent poses/expressions are very well done: https://www.daz3d.com/lil-tobyn-and-caryn-poses

Worth taking a good look at those.

I thought that too about the hair - all four of my babies had hair, especially my eldest son. Some adults don't have as much hair as the baby in the next hospital bay to us had. My eldest daughter was almost ten pounds when she was born (and two foot long, which my five foot two self won't forget in a hurry!), and I can remember one nurse looking at my daughter's little belly and exclaiming in amazement to another 'Look - rolls!'. Even she never had rolls of fat on her legs though, and I don't think I've ever seen a baby that has. Lovely chubby knees however - that would be much more like it :)

I am sorry, but I had hoped, if there was a new baby, it would be cute. Those are scary.

These are no newborns, they are between 8 months and 1 year, in my humble opinion.

Sking wrinkles seem to be randomly placed.

Nope, money saved, I am not buying.

    First quick render.

About 5 minutes dial spinning and a lot lot more time getting clothing to look good, ended up using a Genesis Tee shirt and the basic wear shorts, the Onsie looked terrible.

What’s wrong with the babies at other stores? The sixus baby has a much better face. And some of the expansions are great....  I’m curious to see how baby Rosie will blend with this baby... I prefer less bony faces on infants...

I think if they'd been marketed as toddlers I'd have picked them up by now. I probably just need my mind to get past the newborn baby claim. I've been wanting to see new kids in store for ages, and I do like the stuff in the 'Make Me Itsy Bitsy Baby Props and Shaders' product, which looks like really good value for money. Still thinking about it, but my maths is so atrocious that they'll likely be grown up with kids of their own by the time I've figured out how to get the best deal. More coffee needed. Much more coffee :)

Can anyone who has them try mixing the babies with 3DU Dayton, Brynn, Cayley or a Thorne character? I really think those might help with the cuteness factor. If I knew it would be easy to make it cute, I’d get it but as is and with the bad pricing, seems like a long term wishlist item waiting for a super sale...

Scorpio, that is just awesome. I really love that image.

I will never have a need for a baby in any project (although Divas Woo renders make me think otherwise, LOL), but I am extremely happy for those that have that need and find this release works for them. Thanks to DAZ for listening to all the requests for a new baby figure (despite the negativity)

Well, already, that is so much better.. Is there a way to dial out all the wrinkles?

Not into babies but Daz have nursery rooms being sold for them...Kids 8/9 soon, maybe, perhaps...

  • I've been waiting for a new baby for a long time, because I definitely have a lot of uses for babies.  I was hoping the new babies would be better than the old one, but these are very disappointing.  I find them, well ... ugly.  Too much jaw and chin and not sufficiently babylike - no darling baby appeal at all.  They're actually rather repellant and creepy. :(

I've never seen such exaggerated fat folds on babies and toddlers in real life, either.  On real babies the little creases in their baby fat are charming, but on these it looks like they've got some kind of condition.

These babies do not accomplish the cuddly charm that babies are supposed to bring to a render.  I simply can't use them.  At least the earlier babies were useable.

The Small World characters and Mara and Ella (especially) are better facially, but the limbs are still shocking.

The toys and other props look wonderful, and the baby hair is excellent!  I also like the poses, especially the ones interacting with adults.  The poses where the adults are holding the baby tenderly are especially appealing.  I also like the clothing for the baby.  It's just the baby that I don't like.

The head looks better and it's helped by a more authentic baby pose....

Skin looks a little (or rather, very) plastic from the neck down.

Nyahh, I am tempted, but I already have the Sixus baby (and Amanda), and I spent on yesterdays Fash Sale...

The gender neutral Genesis base is excellent for kid morphs (falling way behind on the expression and detail fronts compared to Genesis 8 now), but, looking at the inclusion of both a G8M and G8F baby products, I have to ask 'Why?' and 'Is it really worth it?'

Seems to me a perfect example why a more gender neutral (additional) base is useful.

(Probably going to need to add something like it in a few years to stay representitive anyway)
