is it possible to bulk save renders in DS?

davesodaveso Posts: 7,802

I usually hit render quyite a few times in doing a final scene... or change things up and render..resulting in 10 or more images that need to be saved.
Is there a way to save all of them at once, maybe just calling them the date followed by a sequence number or something?

Have you seen this? https://www.daz3d.com/super-save ; If I'm understanding you correctly, I think it does what you just said.  Love this product!

thanks.. I was looking for something to save renders, not the scene.

  • You do know that DS doesn't free up memory from previous renders if you leave the image window open? So having all those images sitting around will eventually cause your renders to go into cpu mode. You should save or discard renders when you finish them not leave them around.

  • If you are looking for a batch render option, I haven't used it but there is this:

i dont even have a gpu .... so I'm always rendering CPU mode.... so far not really any problems. I had 20+ open one day.

Yup it does! You need to  enable "use saved scene settings" or whatever it was calledsmiley

I use it quite frequently (actually have it running a batch of 7 renders right now while I attempt to go to sleep). It works great, as long as you remember to finalize your render settings in the scene when you do your final save on it. And it runs fine with iray.

It would be so cool to have something like "Adobe Media Encoder"!!!

I could go out for some hours, and then find all my renders done, instead of suffering while I wait for them one by one, with an unusable PC :'(

Another way would be to use back-up software to 'watch' the temp folder.

I use File Hamster to watch for the r.png file specifically and that file gets backed up (with a date/time stamp) every time a change is detected.

so here is an example of what I need to do.. as you see, there are several renders as I test different aspects of dialing characters. I would like to just auto save them one at a time ... in a sequence ...

Don't think you can do it automatically after you have created a new render, as DS deletes the file containing the previous render as soon as you create a new one. After that the only option seems to be to save manually from the open render window. You should grab the file from each render as soon as it's been created, and before you do a new render. I'll suggest doing like prixat said, that works.

Yes, and you can do that with that app, assuming that it can copy the render to another folder. Just make it copy the r.png in the render/temp folder to another folder each time a new one is created.

Correction: the full folder path is C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\temp\render

I thought it was free. I wrote an app that does something similar to make up for a bug in the batch renderer, but I think that bug has been fixed now. I can easily modify it to do the same.

If you are using 3delight you can render RIB in batch files  you just have to set your folder locations .just beware RIB batch files tend to create huge data sizes in folder  and its not fast rendering to RIB but its great for creating animations  with the PNG that come out

yes its awful the time it takes  I only tried it once for myself and I forgot to mention 3DELIGHT is a renderman base render engine that is described in The RenderMan Interface Bytestream Protocol Library. and you really would bennifit from the plugin for Renderman for speeding up batching theRIB files or you can do it the hard way and script your own batch files like i did which takes some time  but you can find some good cheat in the rmd library http://hradec.com/ebooks/CGI/RPS_13.5/prman_technical_rendering/users_guide/options.html#rib_format

heres a link that explains the whole thing and how to set it up where to down the plugins (yes they have 90 day trial versions) http://hradec.com/ebooks/CGI/RPS_13.5/prman_technical_rendering/users_guide/rendering.html

and if you have the money you can actually rent or buy render time on renderman server or outright  https://renderman.pixar.com/product
