As a Genesis 1 user, I can't see myself getting any real use out of Dawn but I hope she does well since competition tends to lead to innovation. A good point was made about her facial structure seeming a bit more mixed or latina than the typical caucasian supermodel. Also, a lot of her promos are unflattering. The lighting doesn't seem right and the makeup seems too strong. I've seen a few vendors take the base shape and skin yet make better images. I almost want to download her out of curiosity of seeing how she looks in different lighting.
just a heads up...Hivewire have always said she would be free for the first month. Not sure what will happen then...as its a free figure if your interested i trying her one day it might be worth doing so now.

Has anyone created a Genesis/Gen2F clone for Dawn? There are some lovely clothing for Dawn (only) which would look nice on Genesis/Gen2F.

as it isn't allowed to create a clone of genesis for Dawn and distribute it I doubt that it possible to do the reverse either and yes I did have that from a DAZ employee that it is against copyright to create a clone for a DAZ figure for Dawn.

The shape of a figure is copyright to the creator, so DAZ would need to create or license a Genesis or G2F clone for Dawn and Hivewire would need to create or license a Dawn clone for Genesis or G2F. The same would apply to mappings, if the basic divisions are even compatible.

Are you 100% sure about this? Because I'm pretty sure DAZ3D cannot hold a copyright on generic androgynous shape. Like in fashion, certain things are not copyrightable.

But I don't think I will be making a version for DAZ figures. I cannot double up all my projects. So there will be some that are daz exclusive and some that are dawn exclusive.

You can't copyright a shape, but you CAN link a series of PATENTs together to cover a specific manipulation of a mesh and the commercial applications and dsitribution therof. For example, DAZ can't prohibit the creation of a shape that resembles V6, but they can lock down the use of that shape with the Genesis2 mesh. If you want to copy V6 exactly, but apply that shape to Genesis or Roxy, you can do that for yourself as a one-off item... but you can't sell or distribute that set to others with the goal of bypassing the legitimate sales and use of V6. Mind you, if you throw enough lawyers at someone, you can win a case even if you don't have a real leg to stand on, as in the case where Disney refused to return the rights to Winnie the Pooh to the author's heirs despite some pretty obvious legal shadery, and the whole ridiculous Apple/Samsung thing, where Apple's claims to design patents that were highly questionable in both their vagueness and previously used by other companies, were upheld in the U.S. while rejected overseas.

In short, it doesn't really matter what the actual word of the law is. Until the patent system is overhauled to cover the ramifications of the last twenty years worth of technology, He who has the most money and lawyers essentially is the law.

Legal Qualifier: I am not a lawyer, and while I actually work with copyrights and patents on a frequent basis, I have to include this sentence to make sure that no one acts on my advice, but instead goes and pays money to a lawyer who will probably tell you the exact same thing for a couple of hundred bucks. KaChing!

    Very nice Rawn!
The resemblance to Miss Davis is of course apparent to at least one person here. Not me!
    Great work

Got my old Supersuit transferred over to Dawn. It's now the DawnSuit. Hopefully I'll be releasing all versions at some point but wanted to show that it's done. Now I have a great base to make clothing for her/him as well as develop a super hero set.

RAMWolff - the Dawnsuit looks great!!

By the way, there was a tutorial done (have yet to try it) on how to create autofit clones for Dawn

Go to Hivewire's forum, type "Autofit Clone" into search and there are 2 threads that will show up - one by 3doutlaw and the other by Dvl_Lvd with info on how to do this for your own use

    Thanks for the comps hon.

Yea, got the tutorial but AFTER I had some other info that helped me get it all done. It was actually very very simple. You don't need to go into the Properties Manager at all to create a fit clone. You click on the Properties of the clone morph and change it's properties. I'm at work right now so can't tell ya from what to what. I'd just assume do a screen grab which illustrates so much better for most folks.
