  • LEE looks terrific. I like some of his outfits, too. He is good. His bundle is fine.

But I'm imagining Daz evilly laughing like Ursula in The Little Mermaid.I feel like Daz took the poor reception of Mei Lin's "deal" and decided to make it even worse because Lee has been so wanted for so long.

Pretty much in agreement with the opinions already expressed so I won’t pile on further. Having “Lee 7 for Lee 8” and Lee 8 HD in the bundle (or instead of the loyalty incentive) would have been a much more appreciated offer, but I guess there’s always Lee 9.

Is it just me or did Daz and the PAs spend their summer rewatching Netflix’s Marco Polo Season 1? Some of the promos sure look like Jia Sidao :-)

  • may have to pass my pc membership is up for renewel on December 1st or 2nd who knows what that'll be this year it's auto and wanna keep it going.

Anyway for my fellow Aussies that are PC members too did a test run in the prices for each bundle and add ons so here's what'll it'll cost you/us aussies

i skipped the 3 pages of too expensive posts to add mine. Just overspent in the PC+ sale..and then this. Free is always good but the choices for 10 free items are things I've passed on quite a few times. Yeah ..throw 10 of them in the basket ..whatever. with the Pro bundle and 2 adds it was $85 ...

GIFT CARD 20% OFF - not even close to an incentive. Its just spend more ... that I don;t have. TO be honest, I couldn;t afford this right now even if it were $45.

    ITS A PASS

I've got to agree - decent character with some reasonable stuff in the bundles, but certainly not "OMG, I have to have it now" when this is the offer on hand.
Aside from no stacking discounts for buying more add-ons, the free/discounted content is either the same lists of items as have appeared before, or ironman13 items which, while amazing, were recently going for $3 each at the end of October. Basically, many loyal customers will already have cleared out the stuff they really want/need from these lists.

Unfortunately, another new character where the introductory offer is less appealing than just wishlisting it and waiting.

Same money exchange woes here in Canada, it just comes out to too much.

It's an ok bundle, but I actually prefer Lee 6 in looks etc. So it's pass for the time being.

Not all of us waited on pins and needles for Lee. I do agree that he is a well designed character set with some great things in and around his pro bundle. That being said some of us are trying to live off of a small income with a family, so when you get used to sales strategies and discounts that seem to always hit the girl figures, that ia a hit or miss if they will show up on the guy characters and then buyers don't respond to the sale for the guys as heartily because they have to pay more than they would on the girls and then it is translated by the sales department that the girls charcater are selling better because people like the girls better it is frustrating. I know on some of the other guy characters this year their sales discounts were underwhelming as well. And while I bought the packs it felt like Daz was trying to talk me out of them.

You assume I am not in the same boat?  I save and budget around income and famiily too. And for those who weren't waiting on him, why even post here about that figure? Girl figures sell better, we've heard that a million times. Lee 8 arrives, and I am not complaining, I am just grateful they finally released him. No one is being forced to buy the pro bundles if they want Lee. There's Base, and Starter pack version of him, and he could be picked up at a  later date on sale. But for all those being negative when he finally arrived, just stop. Can't afford him, don't buy him now.

As for the bundkle not being too spectacular, just buy the base and use your other products on him. It's not like there isnt stuff he can use.

what happens when you buy the starter, and especially just the character, later, wehn the stuff goes on sale, you already have parts of it, so the next complaint becomes the deal isn;t a deal becasue I already have parts of it, otr the character. I just dont buy any of it untilk it is affordable or its a free add on another bundle down the road ... like Lee 9 or 10

  • to be fair it is thanksgiving and going by the large numbers of Aussies and others here, the biggest customer base is preoccupied elsewhere with their families eating turkey

We're not being negative about the bundle just the deal which isn't so great especially for those of us who aleady bought all the free and discounted stuff we want. The free, $1.59, and $2,59 offers have already been up several times with earlier pro bundles and the "free" (with add-ons) i13 items were all on sale recently for only $2.99. As for the credit card discount it means we have to put out a lot more cash rather than use credit we already bought.

Although they don't usually come to the forums I would hope marketing is paying attention to the comments in this thead.

It really does seem like the odds are totally stacked against Lee 8.

    1. Released on a major US holiday when many users may be away or looking at Black Friday deals from other places. There is only so much money to spend.

    2. Nearly identical offers to Mei Lin 8, which presents its own issues. Some people were not enthused by her deal as it was, others who bought her struggled to find 10 free items they even wanted. Now the same freebies are available again, and if you did do the Mei Lin 8 deal there are ever fewer choices for you. I see a couple of new choices, but only a couple.

    3. The monster i13 deal just took place a few weeks ago, many people got all the i13 content they wanted. I sure did! And there is pretty much nothing left for me.

    4. Many people are still recovering from the PC+ sale. And the lack of a way to discount Lee 8 like in the past really hurts, again like Mei Lin 8.

    5. Lee 8 is a male, and men historically don't sell quite as well. Lee 8 is also an Asian male, and past Lee's did not seem to be super popular.

Especially with #5 in mind, Lee 8 really needed a compelling offer. So far the response has indicated otherwise. I wont say Lee 8 is doomed, but he certainly has a difficult hill to climb. Mei Lin 8 and Lee 8 should have released when "Crazy Rich Asians" was flying high in the box office, and they should have had more compelling deals for them. IMO this would have maximized their potential sales.

I like the bundle. I like Lee....because I don't own any of the previous editions I haven't waited for him like you have. That being said, I have been making an effort to vote with my dollars and show support for the male characters that I like. Whether they are characters that I have followed through each generation or have opened the site on day one and knew I wanted to add them. Now since today's reveal has me interested in Lee, now I am looking at his sales dynamic versus a majority of the girl figures sales promotions, and am noticing a trend that on at least two other male figures that I have gotten have had a weaker promotional sales structure. Which I feel everyone speaking up to see the playing field leveled, which in turn might help the creation of male figures by so many of the talented artist seem profitable would be important to everyone, you included. We aren't trying to poo poo on your parade. How about you see that maybe more people want Lee as well....

There is a critical difference between the Mei Lin offer and the Lee 8 one. Mei Lin 8 came out during the PC+ sale, so the pro bundle was 42 dollars, where as it is 66 to get the same deal with Lee 8.

I've been waiting for a long time and I love the Lee Bundle and have 3 add-ons in my cart. But if the price doesn't go down for Black Friday I'm going to have to clear my current cart and only buy Lee base model. It kinda makes me regret buying the ML bundle, but that was the first time I really liked her bundle and not just her base and add-ons.

I'm hoping the year long gap between Monique/Darius to Mai Lin/Lee doesn't mean they are the only ethnic characters coming out this generation. I was really hoping for Kimo/Kalea and possibly new ethnic characters to be added.

Looks good, but it's really expensive: $66.13 (WTF?). Normally we pay with all discounts $37 to $43 for a new pro char.

20% discount on a gift cards is also no argument (there are many sales from 20% to 25% for them).

The bonus offering (free items, cheap i13 items) is also no deal, got all interesting stuff from that before.

I'm sorry, I like to have Lee 8, but I will wait. The current deal is not cool.

Yep! I noticed the same thing. I ahead went and splurged picked up Lee 8 Pro and 2 add ons and Got Lee 7 pro for free plus 10 more free items and few items for $2.59. So, I'm okay with it. My order camer at $100 and some change.

i have Lee 6 starter and Lee 7 Pro already, so the overall effectiveness of the promo is diminished a lot. thus the 20% off the gift card offer... and all else that has been said

  • melaniemelanie Posts: 806

When I bought the Mei Lin 8 base figure, after buying a couple of other items at the same time giving me extra discounts, I paid only $9.94 for her base character. Very different from the $22.03 for Lee 8. I think Mei Lin 8 was something like $16.95 or close to that, but when I bought a couple other extra items it brought her price down to under $10. This is very different from Lee 8. He's in my Wishlist, but I won't be buying him right away.

To get Lee8 Pro bundle and ten items "free" you would have to purchase a $332 gift card, providing you got the 20% off gift card offer, that is. Then use the gift card money to purchase the add-ons and get those incentives as well. Sounds like a plan.....but not for me.

Pro Bundle was $66. 10 Free items came with the purchase. Total of $66.00. I don't understand the math that got you to $332? You get 20% off the purchase of a gift card. A $10 GC would cost you $8.

    20% of 332=66.xx

Why not just buy Lee8 Pro, for $66? You get the 10 free items with it, if in the cart at the same time. And the 20% off is off the Gift Card only.

    • Lee 8 Pro Bundle = 10 Free items + 20% off Gift card (or Lee 7 Pro Bundle + Lee 6 Pro Bundle)
    • Lee 8 Pro Bundle + 2 add-ons = 10 Free items + 20% off Gift card (or Lee 7 Pro Bundle + Lee 6 Pro Bundle) + 1 Free Ironman13 item
    • Lee 8 Pro Bundle + 3 add-ons = 10 Free items + 20% off Gift card (or Lee 7 Pro Bundle + Lee 6 Pro Bundle) + 2 Free Ironman13 items

If you purchase  the add-ons with the 20% off Gift card, 51% off + 20% off = 61% off (Note: some add-ons are 30% off).

Because some of us aren't specifically waiting for any given character. Obviously, not every G8 Daz character has been a remake of an older character, but I don't intrinsically ignore them because I wasn't waiting for them.

My general expectation is that I have a fair chance of liking whichever the next DO character will be to come around - they tend to give a broad range of different appearances (as compared to some PAs, who basically remake the same character over and over), they're required for a lot of other characters and they often get specific fit morphs on clothing - so it is just generally disappointing when one comes along with a poor initial deal.

It really does seem like the odds are totally stacked against Lee 8.

Lee is also struggling a bit for me because I know that East Asian Men will be out of the "new" period soon and thus eligible for PA discounts, so I'm not all that desperate to add G8M Asians in my library that I have to get his bundle just for that - I don't need that large a selection.

(Actually, something similar happened with Mei Lin. I'd recently added some pretty good G8F Asians to my collection, so the uninspiring deal meant eventually I just picked out the base character and an add-on character, later grabbing an outfit and textures to activate discounts on other baskets).

So unless people have been huge fans of past versions and waiting for Lee eagerly like you've been, they're not allowed to be interested in buying the Pro Bundle now that it's released (because of course there's no way they could have a use now for what's included in the bundle in that case) or disappointed because its price is higher than for other G8 shapes? Sorry but that's just ridiculous....

Besides if you want Daz to keep producing Lee and Mei Lin for future figure, it's actually a good idea that people let Daz know that sales will probably be lower on Lee and Mei Lin 8 because on the marketing scheme they decided on and not because of the figure itself. If they only looked at poor sales compared to other named figures without the price factor they might actually decide they're not worth doing another version....

I like Lee 8. I picked up his pro bundle. I'm very glad to see some non Bruce Lee hairstyles in the set. And Lee 8 looks great.

The deal wasn't so good for me. They store needs to add more to the 10 free items gene pool as I struggled to find anything that I would use. Many of the items were old, or just not to my taste, and most of it was for female characters so not much I could use. They need to double that content to be tempting.

I'm glad I read the thread and picked up two i13 items.  It does seem weird to me to offer bundled deals and then items from that same bundle as individual purhcase. Won't most people want the bundles?

There wasn't enough content in the bonus discount items section to tempt me to buy either.

I did not get HD, although I would've liked to.... But I think pro bundles should include HD, so, I passed.

    Kimono looks very nice.

    Thanks a lot!

Yes - that was somewhat annoying when going through the i13 mega-sale at the end of October (why would I want just one item for $3 when I can have its entire bundle for $3?), but it's presumably a lot easier for Daz's programmers.

More than that, if we want to be cynical, if someone makes a mistake, it's hardly to Daz's detriment.
If we want to be generous, it means that if anyone has wishlisted an item that's in a bundle, but not the bundle itself, they still get the wishlist icon to remind them as they're browsing (and hopefully spot the full bundle).

I thought that about finding a new hobby a little while ago LOL. Certainly can no longer afford this one! :)

Pretty much agree with everyone...my cart is sitting over $100 with 3 add-ons.  Freebies I don't want and a gift card I can't afford.   This is simply way to expensive for a character bundle that doesn't even come close to the previous Lee's.  I like him for what he is, but not sure I'm willing to spend that kind of money at this time.  Things are obviously changing and not for the better. I need to look for another hobby. heh

It depends what your hobby is— shopping or creating art? wink I’m sure you already own enough content to play with and freebies are easy to find. We seem to forget that the goal is to create, not acquire every single thing n the store. I know I’m guilty of that, but I decided that, unless something is 70% or more off, or maybe 60% for something really cool or that I need immediately for a project and don’t already have something similar, I can wait. I already have enough content to last a lifetime... I’m sure many of us do!
