As somebody already mentiones, his smile is off. Somewhat joker-like shape of mouth. Notized that with other figures as well. As much as i like buying men, this smile totally creeps me out.
Bought some of the outfits and the samurai hair, but not Lee.
I've concluded some time back that DAZ offers three separate hobbies (four if you count creating content): buying stuff, installing and organising it, using it.
This promo picture is what sold me on getting Riku for Lee 8, so great job to the PAs who made Riku and the promo art that went with him. The hair used in this picture looks really familiar, but I can't place it right now, anyone else recognize it?
I'm really on board with Lee 8 and really want to purchase the pro bundle... but ooof, that's an incredibly rotten deal, especially since there's no "secret" discount for people who've either bought Mei Lin 8 or X number of male Pro Bundles/Genesis 8 figures like there's been with past ones. I'm going to wait to pull the trigger on my shopping card until tomorrow (Black Friday) or on Monday, because maybe some additional/unintentional discount might creep in.
That is an excellent point Alicia! DS is basically a renderer first and foremost and I use so many non DAZ mesh objects in my renders it's not even funny.
I am not interested in Lee at all, but like some of the addons. I just splurged over a grand on some Black friday deals elsewhere, so any DAZ shopping will have to wait

i was in the shower thinking. YES .. I have enough content for 10 lifetimes. I just found a CD from 2009 with saved items. That CD contains enough for at least a lifetime of rendering... and I have stuff dating back since the beginning of Poser. Started as free, but then turned inot a business by a lot of great artists.
My new gig is to find V1 .. I have her ... P1 man is a scary figure.
Anyway .. Lee 8 ... someday.
My husband's hobby is building and crashing flying large RC model airplanes, so yeah, I agree some of them can get pretty spendy.
I love him and I've been waiting for him, and since I'm still pretty new to DAZ the previous pro bundles and i13 items are enough of an enticement that I'll probably spring for that. But the free items promo is confusing to me at this point. It nudged me over the fence on getting the Vlad 8 pro bundle, but I skipped Mei Lin even though I liked her because with the same pool of items, my money was better spent on the sale to get things I could actually use. It gets less and less compelling over time for anyone who purchases a lot of stuff.
The offers tend to change over time, so hopefully they'll move onto something else soon. A lot of the earlier G8 bundles had offers like "Have 20% off for buying the pro bundle with three add-ons, an extra 20% off because you've bought previous Genesis 8 bundles and/or the previous version of the character, and you get to pick three free pro bundles from older generations".
I suppose they may have moved on because some longer term users already had many of those old bundles (although as someone also fairly new to this, I certainly haven't got every last one I'd like, so I wouldn't complain about the return of that offer once or twice more)...
I think my favorite was Zelara's! It was actually a case of knowing there were so many items I wanted to buy that I could get with her that I'd be silly not to pick up the pro bundle. I was hoping to see something similar to that with fantasy items in the future.

Yay! Lee 8! Oh, wait, the deal...
This has been discussed at length, but here's my thoughts.
I have Lee 6 and 7 (thanks to previous Genesis 8 sales), and grabbed a LOT of the Ironman13 bundles thanks to that mega i13 sale a few weeks back. So yeah, I see that 20% off gift cards thing...
Except that I just banked a bunch of store credit with a previous 20% off gift cards sale. Sooo...
Buy Lee 8 with my store credit (essentially 20% off), at no extra discount (which I would usually see) or...
Buy Lee 8 and bank more store credit (0% off, but eventually 20% off something else later). You can't use store credit when making a purchase that includes gift cards, AFAIK...
As for the cheap ($1.59-$2.59) items, well if you were staying up with the PC+ sales, especially in the PC+ for the day, yeah (like me) you probably snagged a lot of stuff for killer deals already during the last few weeks. Looking through what's left over, yeah I've been passing on those items for a while now. Maybe if they drop below a dollar, well I'll think about it, but I have a LOT of stuff that's similar to whats left r.e. MY current choices in this sale.
Same for the 10 free items. What's left isn't particularly appealing to me. Sure, it's free, but compared to previous offers, yeah I'm spending more to get them.
As for the 'buy 2, get an i13 item for free', well as I said, I already went hog wild with the $1.99 i13 sale. So essentially, it's only 33%-50% off those 3 items when combined, and again I already passed on the i13 items when they were really really cheap...
Now, compared to the sweeter Pro bundle deals I was seeing as recently as a couple of seasons ago... Lessee, 20-30% offf (owned/qualified for prereqs), plus extra discount for buying 2 or 3 addons, AND 3 pro bundles (so 24-30 items for free). Which sucked if you already had all of the pro bundles, but for me, this was a great way to catch up on older pro bundles.
So paying the 'full' $66.13 price (or what I usually pay via gift cards) pales by comparison to previous deals. This would be the first time I actually payed $66.13 or more (in banked store credit) for a pro bundle by itself, because this will have been the first time that I can remember since Genesis 8 dropped that addons didn't give you an extra discount, or owning previous bundles didn't give you a direct discount.
If the coupon had said '20% off Lee 8 Pro bundle' instead of '20% off gift card', then maybe the offer would be a bit more enticing. And yeah, Black Friday is upon us, so my attention is focused on holiday bargains in general.
As an example, I didn't grab Dwayne 8 when he dropped due to similar 'relatively lackluster deal' issues, although his bundle did drop below $25 briefly in the PC+ sale, so I have him now. Might have missed out on something there, but at least I didnt' pay $66.13 in store credit...
AND, freebies are only valuable if you'll actually use them. Otherwise they just gather dust in some corner of your hard drive/ssd. Well over half of my Daz library meets this description currently (mostly weekly freebies, but also from sales).
So, Lee 8 Pro is in my wishlist. Maybe a more intriguing deal will appear in the next couple of days, we can only hope. If not, I'm patient. Lee 8 Pro will hit the bargain bin someday... Lee 6 and 7 suit my needs nicely in the meantime.
The Daz sales team needs to step it up if they want more of my money during this holiday shopping season, just sayin...

Lee 8 looks like a nice character. Which is why he's been wishlisted for later (possibly much later).
I do like the 'Samurai Bun Hair' though! The M3 version is getting pretty long in the tooth...
It's delightfully chilly here in north western NSW, albeit a tad dusty of late.
Something else to note about this whole thing is that the sale ad on the front page says "Thanksgiving WEEKEND with Lee 8" This makes me think wonder if DAZ is going to be taking the whole four day weekend off.

I really want to like Lee 8, but I like doing portraits, and his eyes in close ups look like they were painted red all around the inside. There is also a bright white circle around the iris in both of his eyes. This is easily seen if you click and magnify the images on his promo page. This just isn't the quality I'd expect in a Daz 0, especially one that we've been waiting for for so long.
He seems like a step backward from many of the releases like Ollie, and so not having his HD in the bundle is an odd choice.

well there was a bit of anger hatred from some because daz was offering the hd free with the pro bundles for awhile because they didn't want the hd even though it was free and went on long rants about it so you could probably blame them for that
I was thinking that "Thanksgiving Sales" should be special for everyone but it seems like it's only working for Lee 8 enthusiasts. Hopefully there will be a mild to moderate correction/special offering tomorrow. We are grateful to DAZ as they are grateful to us, but for some reason some of us don't feel it during this special day of "thansgiving".
i thought you might have been seeing the "ring flash" effect from lights (can't think of the correct term) but I'm seeing what you mean after looking at the promos. It looks more like an "indentation" - it's really weird.

The 20% off gift card for buying the pro if you have the two previous ones is all well and good...but it's effectively telling you that for owing the previous pros you now get to spend MORE MONEY!! Not sure how that's a "discount for supporting male figures/male pro bundles/daz" really. Plus you cannot use your store credit when you have a gift cert in your cart, so if you had been buying gift certs in teh hopes of Lee coming along, you cannot use it, you have to use money that you have right now.
I had finally got to the point where I have 3 pro bundles of the 8 line, hoping that would give me that good discount next time I got one - i feel like i got in just before they stopped that. Bummer.
I have all the other 8 pro bundles but with the current "deal" it looks like I will now be missing one at least until it gets a better discount -- maybe in March Madness ??

I just looked through my order history back to December 1 of last year - the highest price I actually paid for any 8 series pro bundle was just over $48, with most in the $42 to $44 range. Lee is showing as $66. I think I'll wait for a better deal.
Thank so much! I do have that hair. When it looked sort of familar I was hoping it was something I already owned. I should play with the morphs of the hair more often.
Right now I can pick up the Floyd Pro-bundle for 47.23, but Lee 8 bundle is still 66.13. This is just annoying.
