lots of sets with tables, dishes, etc..but what food is good to buy..that looks sort of real, not like a plastic thing thrown on a plate. or dry looking
need greasy bacon and a steak that looks moist and juicy ... and my eggs a smilin

  • You should look for Exnem's stuff over at Renderosity. They are high quality and there's lots of variety to choose from. Also ShaaraMuse3D has some quality vegetables.

I think Powerage has a few food products as well. Or did. ShaaraMuse3D also has things other than just vegetables and fruit.

And Oskarsson has some here, I think (maybe Rendo). Plus I think i13 ported some food products over from Rendo. Blondie9999 did some diner food but that was some time ago.

And even with these - I would like to see food in the process of being consumed. Sandwiches, pizza, and deserts with bites missing, and forks with content ready to head to a waiting mouth.

ironman13 has some sandwiches just like that here.

Already mentioned by @seeker273, Exnem has a Steak BBQ with food on a fork, Fried Chicken with bites taken out of some of the pieces and Pizza with slices missing.

I have some of those by Blondie9999, wish there were some new iray shaders for them

  • Yep i13 in the various food places like the Pizzaria and Steak House has good food.

Surprisingly a lot of the older Diner Food works well and Breakfast in Bed is awesome.

for the older non iray ..is there a way to convert them?

I picked up several i13 items when thye were $2.99 ...passed on the food ..sometimes I'm not thinking ahead much

Most are fine or just add Uber Iray shader same as any other conversion.

You can then select Matte base which is good for non-shiny or slightly shiny items but for wet or "hot-n-jiucy" consider plastic glossy. Fine tune settings as needed.

  • was thinking same thing like fruit such as bananas peeled and eaten and apples just looked over at rendo yeah some there but we need some here too

someone mentioned in another thread that rooms, etc look too clean and neat. same with dining areas that have no food on the plate. and for sure we need partially eaten food, and crumbs ... sauce drips, burger bits on the floor ... wrappers etc . and a LIE texture for mustard running down your chin ... all the stuff to add some realism.

I usually see a lot of starving people in the diner scenes. and no trash, leftovers ..nothing laugh

I have enoughs sets that came with food props that I can take from and use . like Medieval Tavern and  Pizzeria Algihieri I never found a need to go buy food as a separate props but if you do need to then Maclean has Everyday Food

    https://www.daz3d.com/diner-food-2 pancakes

https://www.daz3d.com/diner-food-3 chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes

https://www.daz3d.com/diner-food-4 burgers, fries and onion rings

    https://www.daz3d.com/diner-food-5 steaks

You're right in wanting bites taken out, but at least these are a start.

Breakfast in Bed is awesome, but are arranged as a complete object.  I specfically purchased it for the food, only to discover that what I wanted to use could not be separated.

Yanno what's funny... making the cheeseburgers for the modular cafe set was the most fun part of creating that product.  I always thought I should make a food pack, just a random assortment of foods, packaged and cooked.  And I think of that almost every time I go into the kitchen and cook.  But it kept getting bumped off the priority list for environment projects.

There are -- or have been -- quite a lot of food models out there (check the freebie sites, and the departed PoserWorld was also a good source for some things). But yeah, partially eaten food is a lot harder to find. The Exnem stuff often has several versions of an item, say an apple, and one will have a bite out of it, but a half-finished meal is a lot harder to find. As is a dirty plate.

Yep. I've looked at everything I can find and nothing fits the requirements. Looks like its finally time to dig out the Hexagon tuts I've been sitting on for years now.

Knew I'd overlooked someone. Tru_Form over on Rendo also has done at least some food products. Mostly in connection with his other sets, but still.

Prbably no half-eaten meals though. Although The Prime freebe for the month is a Thanksgiving spread of his.

Somebody really ought to take a look at some of the more likely to be owned sets of dishes, like the diner dishes, or the Dinner on the Orient or something like that, and do a texture add-on of dirty dishes.

I'd certainly buy it. And one could put some other food items on top of it to look more like a meal in progress.
