  • Sigh... so far,  this is a pretty boring PA sale. When the super-sale prices are all in the $8-$15 and the discount prices are more like $20, I'm not very motivated to get more stuff.

Agreed. I think the marketing dept has forgotten that this is supposed to be one of the year's big sale events. Not a "wake me when it's over borefest".

I got started with Daz Studio about four years ago., at the tail end of the PA Festival. I didn't even realize it was a special sale. I thought those punch cards were always on the sales page! lol Anyway, since then I've come to recognize that the big "event" sales have certain elements that remain the same from year to year, (though maybe different than they were a decade ago.)

    • Both March Madness and the PA Festival feature new releases at 40% - 50% discounts. And by the end of the sale, all the PAs stores will have been available at 50% off. (That doesn't sound like a lot, but some of those PAs are no longer with us and the only time their stores go one sale is during these two sales.)
    • The PC+ Anniversay sale in October will give away a huge number of PC+ products, which lately have been in the form of one free bundle a week. There will also be bundles with newer PC+ products at a big discount, and bundles of older, $1.99 content for cheap. (The past tow years, the older content bundles have been "Build Your Own" and very popular!)

Other elements of these event sales are different from year to year. Last year, for example, Daz offered entire PA stores of content at 75% off. These were mainly the stores that almost never went on sale. (That's one I wish they'd repeated this year!)

It doesn't feel like great prices because we've gotten used to seeing 60%, 70%, and even 80% offers in between the event sales, but those discounts are on older content, and often limited to a specific generation. I've yet to see a straight 80% off Genesis 2 products, let alone Genesis 3. But in this sale, we're seeing new releases as high as 55%, with the extra discount banner.

If 50% for a new release isn't a big enough discount for you, (and on many products, it isn't big enough for me either,) then this event won't feel too exciting. But as the saying goes, "pick your battles." If this sale doesn't interest you, save your money for the coming months. In my experience, the end of November and all of December get pretty wild. By comparison, January can be pretty boring!

  • I'm ok with new releases at 50% off, but, probably because I've got so much content already, I rarely see new releases that are of any interest to me - 95% of it just looks like the same old stuff regurgitated for the latest generation, or new characters that are pretty much identical to dozens of others already in the store. As for artist catalogues at 40-50%, generally speaking, no thanks.

I don't pay that close attention to the when the sales hit. I seem to remember the last few years the Steam winter/summer sale has gotten my money before the Daz sale even started, but I'm probably wrong about the PA sales. Everyone says it's always been September-ish, so I can't argue. I think I always saved my money for the PC+ sale every year and kind of ignored the PA sale. I know this year I actually spent a decent amount on the PA sale and I've got more saved up for PC+.

The deals may not seem that great to me now, but that may be because I've already got the stuff I really, really wanted. Now I'm just getting stuff I sort of want, if the price comes down enough. Overall, I can't complain. It's been a good sale so far. Now lets get to that PC+ sale!

    LOL

Yep. I totally understand. I've got more than 7500 items installed via DIM. I'm wishlisting most of the new releases that I like. Sale or no sale, it takes something really exceptional to decide I need it now, not later…! (Or male. I'm always looking for more things male; Figures/characters, wardrobe, hair. But not in the horror genre.)

  • I think 50% new releases (sometimes 55% with code) is really nice. What's lackluster for me, however, is the not-steep-enough discounts for "legacy" products.

  • Both the quarterly and yearly Platinum Club Plus memberships are on sale with DAZ Originals being part of the Featured Artist Catalog sale. The yearly price is reduced to $42, but if you add another item from the sale it drops to $35 (50% off the regular $70). You could get the quarterly membership for $12 , which would be a good trial if you have never been part of the Platinum Club, but I think the yearly is the best deal now if you can afford it.

This was a welcomed surprise as my quarterly membership had just expired a few days ago and I was about to renew. I was now able to renew for a year for just $11 more than I was going to pay for the 3 month  deal.

What % should we be getting of DOs? I have tried one and two new releases with no change in the % off of old DO items. Just showing it with and without one new release here. No change in the discount.

Products that are part of the PA Festival are all 40% off for one, 50% off for two, and DOs are 30% off that. Unless they are featured in one of the three categories of older figures, with extra discounts, DOs will show up at about 58% off on the product page and in the cart with just one, the 40% and 30% stacking.) Adding a second item from the PA Festival, either a new release or another DO, meets the "two or more" criteria for 50%, so the DOs will go up to 65% off, (50% and 30% stacking.)

So it looks like the 65% showing in your cart is correct.

I have to laugh at myself. Duh. Two or more. Sigh. It's been a long day. Thank you for explaining that so clearly! Of course, now I'm wondering what older items there are with better discounts... ;) Off to the hunt.

You're welcome, @firewarden. With the three categories of older DO generations—Genesis 3, Genesis 2, and Genesis/Generation 4—it's easy to get confused. I recall a sale not too long ago where I completely misread the terms, (assumptions really do work against us!) and couldn't understand why it wasn't working! lol

I'm glad I understood this sale well enough to be helpful. wink

LOL!  I spoke too soon.  Today's sale has a PC+ item and 80% off Horse2 stuff.  So today will be a good day...

I'm seeing the new releases at full price - anyone else seeing that glitch?

I'm also not seeing the info on how to get the 10-15% gift cards on the sales page. The sales page is still yesterday's - at least that's what I'm seeing.

  • This has been reported.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,925

Weird discounts. 17% for the featured stores (any I try) with two items from there, plus 17% for the new release was Cartoonized

  • Being worked on.

Stores obviously got a few issues this morning, I'm only seeing PC and DO discounts on the newer items everything else is full price.

    Okay now it's right

Do you see the GC info yet? Here's a screenshot… (Just links to the GC page.)

I'm also not seeing any discounts for the Debut products, on the sales page or their product pages. I put two in my cart, and Daz Deals reports I'm getting a 17% discount on both… Not sure where the extra 7% came from. With only one item in the cart, there are no discounts. Hopefully this info will be helpful.

Oskarsson's hound dog clothes are not in the Genesis selection, but it is Genesis clothing.

Is it possible to fix this please ?

    I love these multi-artist flash sales! :)

I'm seeing an extra discount in the cart, with a Debut item, for the one I tried.

Oh, before today I don’t recall the need for a debut item and I think the discount was more than 65% off for G2 featured items but this sale is all becoming a blur...

Wait, the math is still off. It should come out to 70% off, not 65% and it says you can put two featured items in, it doesn’t have to be debut...

Do you mean the Featured G2 Items from near the bottom of the sale page? The prices are not supposed to depend on a Debut or Still New purchase - they should be showing the extra 30% off automatically.

For PC+ members, then any DOs in the list should be showing as approx 71% off and PA items should show as 58% off. If you buy two or more (or any other sale item today) that should drop by a further 1/6 in the cart - so DOs should be approx 75% off and PA items 65%. It's working for me the same today as yesterday.
