Glad you're OK (relatively speaking) Mistara!  We were all a bit worried.

...well today was a bust. Found another store location for my carrier near one which was a Virgin outlet, so I went there only to be told I had to call to close my account.  Apparently there is a special number (I didn't know about) that would work even with my service suspended (chock one up for being "old school"). When I went to where the Virgin office was afterwards, I discovered it had been closed down for some time. So the whole trip was a waste of time.

The scary part, was both were in a shopping mall, I haven't been to one of those for some time.  Still saw many stores that sold odd useless niche items like decades ago (don't know how they stay in business particularly with how high rents are here). Was amused to see that Spencer's Gifts is still around (I remember them from my high school days).  It was like I stepped back in time.

I think people never get tired of the type of item you'd find at Spencer!  Cool stuff.  that kind of thing never goes out of style.

Oh, did you know that you can use a phone that's no longer connected to call 911?

I loved Spencer's, just wish there was still one close to me.    My almost-7-grandson uses old disconnected phones to play games.

Hmmm..., a tag-along seat.  There are times I would have found one handy. indecision

Non-complaint:  It must be fix-it season around here.  Not only is the local road to the city being fixed, but now this town's railroad crossing is finally being fixed again too.  Yay!  No more scooting the car way to the outside of the roadway (coming in either direction)  to avoid the protruding rails in the center that shake your car violently if you forget and go straight over them no.  There was almost no more room to scoot anymore. frown

Complaint:  It's almost the end of watermelon season.   But pumpkins are already here and I've noticed some trees are turning colors and dropping leaves. frown  And, I seem to be regretting going outside wearing short pants and short sleeve shirts. no

Non-complaint:  I took a Sunday afternoon drive today to go get probably the last watermelon and sweet corn of the season at the fruitstand in the next town east.  From there I drove north off the beaten path up into Amish territory.  One can tell it's Amish territory because of the well maintained farmland, the raw wood farm buildings, the baked-goods stands by the road in front of the houses, and the houses with no curtains in the window, cars in the driveway or tractors in the field.  There were no buggys either, so I suspected that they were all still at their Sunday meeting.  Also one can tell its a Sunday because of the numerous strings of "road apples" (aka: "Amish exhaust") along the sides of the roads left by the parade of buggys goin' to the Sunday meeting.  And confirming this, I came around a curve and spotted a farmhouse front yard that had been turned into an Amish buggy parking lot with perhaps 20 buggys haphazardly arrayed.  That must be where church and/or the after church gathering was this week. indecision

    ...'plaints:

Halloween stuff in stores last week..

Sun setting earlier in the evening.

Pumpkin spice season is upon us.

  • I was um taken off the schedule for the whole week.  The work schedule.  I do not have to work until Monday.  Good thing I did not work today as I did not bring my work hat and I am wearing the wrong pants.  I am wearing practically yoga pants.  I am not supposed to wear Yoga pants to work.

I just did a search for blueberry pie instead of yoga pants.  I wanted to see if these are indeed yoga pants.

I got some complaints.  I started playing a game called runescape and then I noticed a sign saying that the system is going to be worked on or restarted soon or something.

Mcafee is installed again on my computer.

I found out it will cost $50 and then 15 a month for a year to have HP look at my computer.  0.o  What? o.0 I do not want to do that.

Complaint:  Arghhh..., I'm out of money and I've been informed of another on-line auction tonight at 5:30 ET with beautiful things that I collect, up for grabs.

For example: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/64433846_beautiful-chinese-jade-carved-boulder   (mouse over the picture to enlarge it)

I could manage the starting bid price of $50 but it won't go for that, it will probably reach the $300 mark and then there's the approximately 20% auction fee and also an overpriced shipping fee that would bring it near $500. (*sigh*). (oops, the starting bid has already increased to $60 by somebody making an absentee bid.)

That auction ( https://www.liveauctioneers.com/catalog/126575_chinese-antique-and-estate-auction/ ) is full of things that I am lusting after.  Most of them start the bidding at $20 or $30 (sort by price) like the stone octopus (#368) or the Hippopotomus (#116) or the lustrous stone vase (#130), or the Jade Buddha (#327), or..., or ..., or... and several pieces of white jade (oh, how I want a piece of white jade like #434 or #241  but it always goes way over my budget.sad

Sigh, I think I'll just join the auction tonight for the adrenalin thrill of bidding on such beautiful items, knowing that I must quit before I'm in danger of winning it. frown

Um, did I mention that I'm out of money because of previous on-line auctions. crying

Perhaps I should heed Mrs. Reagan's advice and "Just say no" when I get notice of these auctions. broken heart

  • I fell down the ebay rabbit hole this weekend.  I spent hours looking at flatware and china.  My husband was loosing it in fear I'd blow money.  I took my daughter to a local thrift store and she found a peice of spode for $8.  The lady jacked the price to $18 at the register.  Yeah it would cost about that to buy it on Ebay and have it shipped.  But she changed the price and peeled the sticker off. It ripped while she was at it.  I went back later to let her know I wouldn't be shopping there and she showed me the sticker she saved with $18.00 plain as day and unripped and explained how mistaken I was, she saves all the tags for just such occassions.  I thought maybe I was wrong for half a second, maybe I misread the tag.  Then I said to myself, "You have been reading for a very long time, does this happen often?  Well, its happened there before I believe with a tea cup for my daughter.  Nope, done with that shop.  But I did find a few matching peices on Ebay.  Then I spent the weekend looking at great stuff, I mostly wouldn't use at all.  I don't entertain and yet I checked out punch bowls, dessert sets, luncheon plates.  Like I am having ladies over for tea or something.  The upside of all this, in October the pom puppy will be paid off.  I will back to my old allowance of $25 a week for fun stuff.
