  • I think metal technology come a long way since those day and I really can't see anyone running a marathon in the old iron armor, maybe be my old French mate "Jean-Luc_Ajrarn" would have been crazy enough to try it Lol!

That armor in the video was made by a research group to replicate a real suit of armor, I think at least it's exceptionally close.

The guy in charge of the group has a website about what he does here and a whole bunch of other neat armor-related videos here.

Must have cost them a small fortune to get made !

I did a lot of research before I did my armor, and I know this isn't the proper way to spell armor!. In those days they didn't fight in fancy armor. All it was used for was "show" they sat on a horse and looked pretty and couldn't move, even if they wanted to. The skirt on my armor couldn't be done or worn as metal can't bend, hanse the word fantasy armor. Chainmail was useless to if you fell off the horse it was game over, try fighting in something that heavy you be lucky to last 10min and arrow cut through it like butter. I hate to say it the skimpwear would have been a better option as the more mobile you were the better your chances!

    Feel free to disagree :)

This is similar to my research also. And the fact that relatively few people exept the wealthy actually had acess to chainmail and plate armor. And even those that did often had fancy suits just for show and parades.

"So Aeon Soul's new Exquisite Ornaments doesn't work for you? https://www.daz3d.com/exquisite-ornaments-outfit-for-genesis-8-females (Those are, admittedly, slightly larger pasties and panty, compared to Classic Fantasy and Fantasy Ornaments.)"

It's just too similar for me to buy it again, and it also doesn't really say if it has the options to hide parts of it like the original did. Not that it isn't a good product, everything from Aeon Soul is.

I, too, am tired of female armor sets coming with bare -mid riffs (midrifts, midr.... you get it) or showing cleavage, the one area over the heart that needs to be MOST proteced going unarmored? For those that PROTEST this as much as I do, I want to draw your attention to this wonderful new piece from Val3DArt. Sensible armor for a female with no bare spots to show off body parts that should be protected. I am out of money at the moment but it goes on my list to buy and I hope many of you follow suit ansd buy it too. :)

I guess that this is a joke, but for anyone who takes it seriously, it's actually possible to do cartwheels in armor.

......And here I thought the Daz TOS forbade porn :)

    it's a mini skirt thigh high,high heel boots.Still = man trap.

but any girl in Armor before 1990 is Fantasy Art any ways.

Historians say back then we where about only 5 feet tall.

Can you imagine a army of 5 feet tall knights now ?

    Damn heels!  Looks nice otherwise...

This armor is very shiny... but it's full coverage at least, and no high heels.  Also, no valley betwen the breasts (for that one guy that cares about that...)

    https://www.daz3d.com/angel-armor-for-genesis-3-female-s

Highly impractical helmet but it's going in the right direction. :)

True...But, I figured this was a dress helmet, like the type that would be worn before a joust.  It's way too shiny and undented to be actual battle gear. :)

  • You know, I've never minded the skimpwear so much.  I mean, if you want to wear light and revealing armor and take your chances...well, whatever.  But, the heels are just over the top.  I mean, if you're going to wear light and revealing armor, you either 1. should be a performer that never sees battle, or 2. wearing shoes that are at least practical enough to be able to run very fast. ;)

It is impressive what people can do in armor.

But without a horse you can have problems - try chasing after a guy without armor who is shooting arrows or crossbow bolts at you.

Joan of Arc wore armour (made for a man) but she never carried a weapon, just a banner to encourage the other (male) fighters.

i have never heard of QE 1 wearing armour, maybe she posed once with some ceremonial armour. She certainly never fought in any battles, Henry VIII was the last English king to fight in a battle

maybe meant Boudicca, don't think she wore much additional protection other than warpaint

Joan of Arc wore a full plated armor custom-made for her, commissionned by Charles VII. And yes, it probably looked like a man's armor.

As for Elisabeth I, she's addressed her troops before a famous battle, wearing a cuirass. Granted that was ceremoniial armor, but still.

And the point was not whether or not they fought in battle, but that women have indeed worn armors in the past.

No, I definitely meant Elisabeth I. Boudicca is not exactly known for the coverage of her armor ;)

I have yet to see a high heeled armor set in a museum. Yes, I suspect you were kidding, but then again I'm almost old enough to have seen the Middle Ages.

Not to mention in Asia and Africa, women fought/wore armor. But this is a discussion that will get the thread locked. Let's just all agree that humans have been fighiting and trying to kill each other since the first person picked up a stick, hit someone else with it, and they said ow, and then returned the favor.

Kate Beckinsale does an excellent job of running in heels, with platforms no less, and sometimes she even does it in slow motion. Just think of the stamina and balance it takes to move that slowly!

Ever hear of the Joan of arc tutorial ? it's a famous tutorial that's been around about as long as CGI.

I've always considered my self a Fantasy Artist ,So the slut wear armor doesn't bother me.

but if ya want to create logical mathematical realism the Joan of arc tutorial is a great place to start.

It is possible. maybe not the middle ages though. This article actually says high heels were created for men in the 1590's to stableize on horses so they can shoot their weapons.

    http://knowledgenuts.com/2014/05/19/high-heels-were-originally-made-for-soldiers/

It's interesting also , I seen images of politictions from the 1700's wearing high heels. Interesting. It use to be a dude thing.

It was common; just like pink, up until about the regency period, when it began to change, for men to wear the colour.

I might snag it because it's reasonably priced and a convincing companion to a really nice G8M armor I picked up at the end of March Madness.

So all the stuff we see in movies about 2 men helping the soldier out to his horse cuz his armor is so heavy he can't walk is not true?  Plus he had to have a box or steps to get on his horse.  Doesn't seem like he could go to the gym and do floor exercises, chop wood, rock climb, or sling himself up to a 'horse'.  Hmmm....movies are lies....frown

Henry  VIII didn't fight in any battles. He led the English at the Battle of the Spurs, but the French ran away before any fighting started (hence the name of the "battle"). Henry wasn't present at any of the other battles that took place in his reign.

The last King of England to lead his forces in battle was George II, at Dettingen in 1743.
