I heard we are the hottest continent on the planet right now is made me feel a little guilty that everywhere else has to get so cold, or maybe it doesn’t work like that but we sure haz pwnd the heat\ the past few days and upside is getting out on the bay in near glassy conditions for a change. Haz sunburn tho, will live :)

...117°F in Sydney the other day.  Broke and 80 year old record.

The Southern Ocean on one side and mountain ranges on the other helps us keep cool, Sydney is more or less at the mercy of whatever winds blow in from the centre ;)

...yeah I remember that dust storm which hit the city back in '09.

Happens occasionally, there are very few weather monitoring stations in the continental centre but is obviously mostly drier and hotter and windier than along the coast and sometimes a heap of desert gets picked up by storms and dumped on us. Iz part of the charm :)

...back from a quick grocery run. Light drizzle and mid 40s, kind of typical January weather here. Lots of rain tonight and early tomorrow morning through Thursday then drying out and near 60° on Caturday.

I'm using an APC as well. Too much stacked in front of it to find number, but it's a tower.
When the battery went out I bought a big sealed deep-draw marine battery and wired it in
to replace the factory one. (Outside the case, of course).
My tech friends said I'd ruin the APC, yadayada, but it's chugging along just fine.
Cost little more than the factory battery and will run my graphics computer for 5+ hours.

But you've broken the warranty.  It's good to have backup power, but the equipment replacement warranty is fantastic...when it isn't voided.

    Dana

Warrenty expired before the original battery died.
Warrenty on deep cycle battery good for another year.

Check behind the hot chocolate mix. Upper shelf, to the right of the sink.

Fortunately, back when I fell a couple weeks ago I was wearing heavy jeans with sweats underneath to keep my legs warm so just a slight bruise.  Still my knees are bad enoug and don't need any more bumps kile that.

You don't need a HD or OS to get into bios.

Just a point here, but it was found in the trash.  And someone knew enough to remove the HDD.  Maybe it doesn't work? surprise

But sure, try all the obvious, pull and replace the memory(s) one at a time.  Wiggle all the wires.  Reseat all all the plugs,  put a known good HDD in it. Sprinkle fairy dust on it.  If all else fails, slap it upside the head and call it names. devil

PS:  I used to have a good source for fairy dust.  But it stains terribly.

...if after all that you find it won't do anything I'll take it for parts.  I could use a new inverter and backlight bulb, as well as a spare display for mine.

  • Non-complaint:  I'm tougher than I look.  I forced myself to endure the pain, I moved very carefully & slowly, and did get my car dug out.  The snow was about a foot of perfect snowball, snowman or snow fort material, I wish I was 60 years younger.  But being 70ish I wish I was back in Florida.  With the car dug out I was finally able to dispose of all my accumulated garbage.  And I had myself a mini-adventure and ate at Wendy's again (Ooh, fun!)  But I made it a short day uptown.  Drove back to my town then dropped my car off at the local mechanic to get an estimate for needed repairs, then walked the two blocks home.  This leaves my parking place at the back of the house empty for a couple days.  I hope the landlord takes the opportunity to finally be able to maneuver his plow back there and get all the snow finally shoved away.  I was tuckered out (old person speak) and literally dropped into my chair and panted and wheezed for about 10 minutes before I took my coat and boots off.

Complaint:  My windshield wiper motor is freaking out again and spontaneously activating randomly. frown  I just had that replaced last summer.  Seems to be a problem with that vintage of Buick.  It seems the electronics in the motor assembly doesn't age well. sad  And all you can get are scavanged wiper motors of the same age. no

Bury them under the pear trees, it's poetic justice.

Expecting rain Friday morning into Saturday afternoon.  That's a lot of rain.  And with all the snow on the ground, I guess my sump pump will be working hard.  It's supposed to get up near 50F, too.  A lot of melting will be going on.  Then I suppose it will get really cold again and turn it all to ice.  angry

Assume unseelie is what it looks like comapred to seelie

    Don't know the rest
