Picture it... Summer of '95, USA. Major heatwave across the whole country for weeks (700+ deaths in Chicago). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995_Chicago_heat_wave It was during that phenomenon that I was on my 'round the country motorcycle trip. In Cleveland (Lakewood area) I discovered that road pavement could melt. Slipped and slewed for several feet and paniced slightly but survived. When I looked back, my path was clearly evident in the pool of tar in the middle of the main city street.
Later, in Dinosaur National Park in Utah I parked my bike (a brand new big BMW) in the parking lot only to find it laying on its side when I returned. The kickstand had punched through the pavement.
Found me a chunk of flat iron tied to a leather thong that I used for years afterward as a kickstand pad when the same situation threatened.
The only advantage of a long motorcycle trip during a heat wave is that one doesn't have to deal with rain. 3000 miles across the country and not a drop of rain 'till I got to Dawson's Creek, Yukon, Canada and on my way back to Vancouver, BC, Canada, Rain for 200 miles. It was like the frog not jumping out of the slowly heating water until he is cooked. The rain was just a continual heavy mist, but 200 miles of it makes one just as wet. And after your underwear gets wet there's no reason to stop.
Mine got confused with dForce
Thanks
I find it odd I said CD when I was listening via an iPhone.

...accroding to the weather serice I have, it's supposed to hit 107° there (60° warmer than where I am). Stay cool and out of the sun.
I remember that. Dallas was giving away window air conditioners in a poor neighborhood where I had just made a delivery.
I was around the corner, buying them, until I ran out of cash. Sold them to a dealer for a 50% profit. Made quite a bit of money that day.
106 right now, very hot wind. Tomatoes in our garden ripening in front of eyes :0
Complaint: Microsoft's new solitare game now has guaranteed winable hands. That's terrible! That means I can't give up and just accept a loss. I've played solitare for 60 years. Even back when it was played with real physical playing cards. (how quaint)
You just shuffle, deal, play, and just have fun at it. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Sometimes you think well maybe if I had played ... instead of ... I might have gotten further or even won, but it ain't worth worrying about. You just say it was the luck of the draw and move on with your life.
The game of solitare on Windows7 machines that I usually play keeps track of your wins and games played and I calculate my percentage of wins. I'm currently at 14.55% Up from 9% a couple years ago. I'm developing a feel for how to play and remember which cards are available and will be playable on the next round, and plan my moves accordingly. And with the computer version I can easily and accurately back up and try a different path to squeeze out a few more wins. But it's still fun to play and sometimes lose.
Now, the latest Win10 version provides dealt hands that are guaranteed to be able to be won. Oh, god. Now I have to sit there and try all the possible ways until I finally win it. I can't just say; "well, I just got a rotten deal" and give up. It's no longer fun. Yeah, yeah, I know... I can elect to not choose the "winable" option and play the old fashioned way but just the fact that I now know that they can rig the game like that is like finding out that there is no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny. It's like when machines finally learned how to play chess. I haven't played chess in decades. I just quit playing once the magic had been exposed.
You can still lose guaranteed winnable hands, it's just your fault rather than being thrown into an unwinnable situation. Windows Solitaire had only one unwinnable game before.
Complaint: I'm only at 61% on my windows 7 machine
That's pretty impressive.
That was Freecell. Game # 11,xxx. I kept the number on my desktop in case I ever ran across it. Never have.
Ah, that's right. It's been a while.
...Milwaukee WI hit 102° and 100° on consecutive days that year. Rarely does it get above the mid 90s there because of the lake.

Very Trivial Complaint As Follows! :
Hyuna for Genesis 8 Female, the "Japanese" character with a Korean name and Looks (looks could pass for chinese too)! To make it better, look at the preview pics for nails, eyes and makeup... Guessing her name was going to be "Izanami".
Didn't stop me from buying her though.
...what an annoying evening tonight.
Was at my usual hangout for a few pints where it normally is pretty relaxing, until this large group of fancy overly dressed upscale people showed up and effectively took the place over. Most of them were total buttheads, leaning over people like myself sitting at the bar not just ordering drinks, but also pushing up against us and not getting out of the way when you needed to head to the dunny, and overall acting like total jerks to the regulars there. I lost count of how many times I was elbowed (including in my sore ribs) and leaned against like I was some piece of furniture. A few of these people even had to be shown the door for creating scenes and getting into other customers' faces. I finally left disgusted with the whole scene. but before departing remarked to one of the staff about what arses these people were (and she totally agreed). I guess being affluent gives them licence to treat others like dirt. Really ruined my entire evening.
At home now dining on a bowl of homemade poutine. Comfort food.
Wow rant worthy the Tennis ppl who show up here every year about now are like that sometimes. Much prefer the Grand Prix crowd they seem to know how to party without getting in the way :)
Feeling cooler now a while after sunset but obviously 0 humidity and a little warm still :)
I don't know which game you were playing but I've run across many games of Windows7 "Klondike" 3-card draw that playout out in the first few rounds despite backing up and trying all alternate plays. And the point of my complaint is that if the company claims the game is winnable then if I can't win, then I'm forced to admit I'm a failure rather than just blame fate. It's no longer fun if I have to work at it.

Web browser is showing weird pop-up windows. I should scan my computer for adware.
All I have are a few old ball bearings.
Dude, you need to collapse those before they go through your walls.

sigh.
Vlender is insanely powerful but the UI was developed by engineer, not UU/Human factor people. Last time I used it I got a headache from grinding my jaw. Someone needs to redesign the UI, but that's a year-long full-time project. Not to mention many users used to the UI have screamed when they threaten to revamp it. Sad.
We get melted road tar here when it hits 105f, black tar has a lot of thermal uptake...
