I've been unable to to connect to Renderosity for a week now.  I just tried to again and got a 404 error on their server.

  • They're fine, the trouble is on your end.

    Normal on my side too.

  • I've edited your thread title to be less alarming, since - as agent unawares notes - it seems to be fine. When in doubt, one thing to try is http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Right.  Sorry.  I tried a similar site the other day and it was reported as down.  I just tried that link and got this:

  • Just tried a proxy and it got the same 404.

  • Just checking, I get an error if I just try to put in renderosity.com in my browser, but if I make sure it's putting in the full address with the https://www it loads for me. Maybe that's the issue, and your browser is storing a partial URL?

It's a fresh Firefox install, and the full addressed worked.  They must've reconfigured their server to require it because I've never had to use it before.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

I went there this morning and they were down for me too. I also used the http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com link to verify and I received the same notification. Maybe others are accessing it because it's cached in their browser but if it's any consolation I'm not able to visit the site either.

When you use downforeveryoneorjustme, are you including the www part of the url?

    The full address works: http://www.renderosity.com

EDIT: On a marketing note, DAZ just got another $5 from me thanks to an alternate prop I found here to replace one I couldn't access through Renderosity.  ;)

    Hi,

They must have reconfigured their CNAME...It should auto-detect based on configured settings. And no, I didn't put "www" in front of the URL when checking it nor has been necessary to add it when the visiting the site in the past. However, thank you, it now resolves in my browser with the addition of "www." I can now download my purchases to render blush.

  • Yeah, it used to auto-redirect, but it is broken now, so you have to dub-dub-dub or you get a 404.

Guess they wanted to give DAZ a little holiday gift. :)

Or they just got overloaded since with their 50% off most of the store and wishlist sale, I spent more over there than here in the last few weeks.

I'm currently traveling overseas and the Rendo site has been showing lots of broken links instead of product images on both my laptop and kindle, but is working fine on my smartphone.  I think they've bolluxed up some things as they've re-done the site to interface directly with the new version of Poser.

I just came from there and everything was working fine. I did see a thread that some users were having trouble, but apparently it was a problem with the DNS server used by their local provider. The fix was to switch the DNS server used by your machine (you're not required to use the one used by your internet provider.) The suggestion was to search with the phrase 'How to change your DNS server' and pick the instructions for your operating system.

I don't think it's ever a good idea to make changes to your perfectly fine internet settings because one website or video game or whatever is having problems.  It's their problem and up to them to work it out.  In this case, I made no changes and walla, Renderosity is accessible again.

Quite true, and I should have specified that in the case on a DNS update, it will in the vast majority of cases resolve itself as soon as the updated tables propagate through the system. The DNS change is something you do if you absolutely need to acess a site immediately. My service provider points us to the Cloudflare server, which updates extremely fast.
