i get a lottt of spam calls, rolling caller numbers mostly the same message about lowering my electricity bill.  i'm in the habit now of not saying anything til i recognize a voice on the other end. i let spam calls play the whole message, they always disconnect in under 60 seconds.  no use blocking the number, it not usually the same number twice.

so just now i received a call asking me if i would like to accept collect charges from a name i recognized as my neighbor's son who is in jail, his 2nd stint.
i never gave this guy my number.  after a couple of unanswered hello the 'collector' hung up.
    wth?

    Ultra weird.

I hope you didn't say "Yes!"  There's a scam going around, if you are asked something and you say "Yes," they somehow use that as proof that you agreed to something...with a voice print that is yours.  I wouldn't have even answered the phone in this case.

Holly is normally propogated by what are called Hardwood cuttings, and it won't be as easy as the way you got a 2nd basil plant.  And it will take several years for the holly bush to get to any reasonable size.

Some instructions can be found around the net, like this    https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/holly/holly-cuttings.htm

Your weather has made the TV news here, looks fraught :)

It was a bit unusual for UK weather.   Ireland copped the worst hits but luckily my son came through it fine. The apocalyptic skies were a bit eery on Monday morning.

Here in Arizona we call this weather, August. :D

I don't answer my landline, ever. If I want you to call me, I'll have given you my mobile number or skype, facetime etc. My landline gets 10+ junk calls a day, so I don't pick up (& the only reason I keep it is cos I have to for the internet). But if you've only got that number and you're a real person and you can leave a sensible message (such as, but not limited to "aunt flo died, the funeral's next tuesday, let us know if you're coming...") and your number, I'll call back.

I signed up with TPS.  It's not 100% fool proof, but it certainly does kill most of the nuisance calls.   http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html

...thank you all for the well wishes (ps1, love the image).  Feeling better today, not 100% but not like I want to crawl back into bed again.

Need to be more careful about these situations than when I was young.

Spell check needed a couple more pulls on the lanyard to get it to start again.

Aye.   The camera angle does make it look a bit iffy, but as that is flying over the city, the plane is actually taking off from city sirport. behind and going away from the building.  That building is called The Shard and is 310m high, was finished in 2010, so is fairly modern.

On this side of The Pond, we call it Do Not Call.  When I put my house phone on that list the last time, the robo-calls increased tenfold!  REally annoying.  It's like they use the do not call list to get new numbers to call.   angry

That thought occurred to me as well.  Funny how perspecitve changes when there is nothing holding two objects together and nothing to give scale to each object.

Looks too big for London City (and too many engines). Only 4 engine jet that City takes is a BAe-146, and that ain't one. More likely to be something big on approach to Heathrow 09. False perspective could put it about there (it's actually south of the river)

I think the Shard is still the tallest building in the UK.

...however BA does have a flight on an A-320 (fitted to all business class configuration), between City Airport and New York's JFK that makes a technical stop in Shannon for refuelling. Expensive flight and sadly, it's a "redeye" from the US.

yes  possibly could be a heathrow flight, thinking about it, (even though Heathrow is actually north of the actual river)  I know all about Heathrow flight paths, having lived underneath one for over 20 years.

Should i cook em in the slow cooker so the vitamines don't boil away?

You can also cook them in a steamer. That retainers the most flavor and vitamins.

It should be fixed by now but I went straight to my Y after work.  Well sitting at a table near the treadmill does not count as using the treadmill.  It is four pm so I want to get on treadmill asap.
