Hmmm...well, I have Hiro 4...maybe Pro...not sure...Michael 4. But, I guess Michael might not count as "young." No worries. If it had been a crazy bargain, I might've bit. But, as for now, I'm not sure I need Lucas for anything. I've got loads of characters and clothes. I might buy Elijah. The current price is good at $30. I only have one of his items, the hair.
I think it is using "Young Male" as a collective label for the three free versions, not meaning any young male.
Hah — I usually don't get the banner until a day or three after everyone else, but this time it appeared tonight as soon as I logged in. The DAZ store works in strange and wonderful ways, as usual...

... And I'm a newly-annointed PC+ member! The only problem is the membership blew most of my budget... Does anyone have a strategy for getting the best value out of the PC+ sale? For example, I learned that the best deals during the PA sale were the MFG items that were also by a featured PA ... Is there anthing similar with this sale?

But to me, I don't find this deal aggressive enough. For one thing... I've got David 5 Pro... so with an additional 20% off, I still feel like I lose out for having paid for David 5 Pro.
Especially when the DAZ Maths works out to $47.61 for the Lucas 8 Pro Bundle with the additional 20%. If Lucas 8 Pro was Under $30 with Elijah 7 Pro and Boride 6 for free, I'd probably jump. Nearly $50 isn't that great of an offer.
I just don't see Genesis 8 offering a whole lot more value for the premium prices that are happening. I'd love to see additional steep discounts on Genesis 3 V7/M7 characters and content.
And Genesis 2 stuff is always welcome too.
And the funny thing is that it is turning into a standoff that is pushing me further and further out of DAZ's consumer cycle.
The more they stand their ground on prices like this, the less likely I am to buy, which means the more frequently orange banners aren't coming up for me at all, which makes me less likely to buy on THOSE promotions - and eventually that leads to this cascade of less buying.
I can't believe that is their marketing strategy.
If you are relatively new with a limited budget then look at the build your own bundles. For three dollars for 8 items you can easily build up a fair amount of content. There is only 44 items for sale there at the moment, but hopefully that should increase significantly as the sale progresses.
Well I have all three of the bundles being offered for free, but I get the same discount as someone with just one bundle. If I only had 1 of the three, then $40 for Lucas Pro, and two other bundles would seem like a reasonable deal, but as it is I am looking at that price for L8 Pro alone, and there is only 4-5 items in the bundle that I am interested in.
Two years ago, I'd have been saying the same thing. But I've learned so much since G8F was released, thanks to threads like Morphs from G3 to G8, and SY's Clothing Conversion tutorial on DeviantArt, that I can now use G3 and G8, (characters and wardrobe,) pretty much interchangably. (High-heeled shoes, though, are still a crap-shoot. Some work perfectly, some... not so much.) There are free scripts that modify poses so that you can use G3 poses on G8, and vice-versa. And using one of Redz tutorials on clones, linked in the Morphs from G3 to G8 thread, I've created my own clones for auto-fit that, I think, work better than the included clones.
You could try using the method outlined in SY's Clothing Conversion tutorial to transfer the antenna. As for G3F morphs on G8F, check out the Morphs from G3 to G8 thread. I have over 100 G3F shape morphs, and over 80 G3M shape morphs, working on G8F and G8M, respectively.
RedzStudio has released a female and a male version with "7" figure UVs to use with G8. If you have more time than money, you can follow my very detailed Map Transfer tutorial and convert one or all of your "7" figure materials to the base female/base male UVs for use on G8F/G8M.
Singular Blues' signature has links to the tutorials from Redz, as well as his script to transfer character morphs. Find him, the links and support in the last several pages of the Morphs from G3 to G8 thread. And here's the link to SY's Clothing Conversion tutorial on DeviantArt.

Ooh, L'Adair is way less lazy than I am.
People who rely on statistics often have trouble with counter-intuitive concepts. (Wide sweeping statement that is generally true, applying to people in lots of companies in many different industies.) As long as the statistics show profits increasing, (I believe—read that speculation, not fact,) they will believe what they are doing is working. If they put as much effort into keeping members as they do to gain new members, (more speculation,) the increase in profits could easily be 2 or 3 times larger. But statistics won't show what could be.
I got mad at Daz at the end of last year, (not going to go into that, so please don't ask,) and I cut way back on my spending the first half of this year. I've still managed to spend over $2K in 2017. Imagine how much more I would have spent, Daz, if I wasn't "voting with my wallet" the first half of the year. And if I don't renew my membership before it expires in late December, I won't be spending nearly as much in 2018, (and subsequent years,) as I have this year, because I won't have the DO discounts and monthly coupons to save me money, or keep me coming back every day to see what's new. Now multiply that by 200 or 300 unhappy former members, and then ask, "Is it really smart to give better discounts on new memberships to non-members, and 'dis' current members?"
I honestly believe members should be getting the 30% DO discount on annual memberships all the time. Then when Daz does a promotion like the current one, the discounts could stack, giving members a better discount for renewals than non-members get to join in the first place. I know I'd feel a lot more valued. And the money I spend as a member would more than make up for the discount on renewal. As the perceived value of membership declines, (30% off DOs that are released at higher prices, new PC+ items no longer a flat $1.99, even the discounts on new PC+ items getting smaller,) it would be nice for Daz to take a small step in the other direction, giving us an obvious new perk that says clearly, "We value our PC+ members."

Hmm, believe it or not, purchased every pro bundle since G3F came out with only exception of Lilith 7 where the offer/content was not that good. But with Lucas I don't know. It's $40 with all discounts plus David 5 Pro Bundle for free. On the other hand I probably won't use David at all. So I might probably skip this deal for now. Oh those memories of the days I came on board and was able to get older G2 bundles for as low as $8-15.

You've nailed the real issue for me. I probably won't get much use out of Lucas or the added guys. I do like Elijah and that Scottish outfit. But, older generation stuff, while still perfectly viable, won't really get used that much by me. Unless there is a specific outfit in an older bundle that I think I will actually go to the trouble to fit and save for the newer generation, it's probably not worth it to me to buy. G3 stuff is good, since it generally is pretty easy to convert characters, etc. to G8 if needed. Also, G3 works just fine on it's own and is all Iray compatible out of the box. I've purchased a ton of older content over the past couple of years. And, the truth is that I've only rarely touched it in my renders. Usually, there is plenty of newer, Iray compatible content available. I have fun buying up all the $0.60 items and shopping for the best deals. But, I haven't actually used much of any of that older generation stuff. In many ways, just buying new stuff that is on sale or well bundled is a much better deal.
As to the value of PC+ - If you just get the free items and a few PC+ discounted items, the membership pays for itself over the year...no argument there. I just think that there are some of us that get so much use out of our membership that it is worth Daz's while to just renew at $0 every year - as long as we keep buying a fair amount of product.
The main reason that I buy an official base model DO character is not usually for the character, but for the bundle...which are often good deals at the release and later after some time goes by. Usually, I like what the PAs come up with just off the base Generation Male or Female better than the offical releases. I also prefer not having prerequisite characters - meaning "this base model, plus morph packs, plus this derivative morph." That makes me feel like I'm paying for a new character 3 or 4 times. I also don't like it that all the official characters have add on HD morphs instead of just including them with the character. That just seems like double dipping an already expensive character. Most official base characters are priced above PA characters. And, PA characters usually have the HD (if any) morphs included. I keep wondering what the official base characters really bring to the table, other than a sort of iconic tradition.
@L'Adair - I think I'm in a similar place to you - and I agree with the sentiments of many of the other posters. After picking up G2 Pro Characters for $8-15, and even a lot of G3 Pro characters under $20... these G8 characters at $40+ for pro packages with some older content I already own thrown in for free just isn't enticing me.
I accidently re-upped for the Platinum club at full price, which I'm not happy about - but that was my own fault. In the meantime, if not for that, I'd be voting even more strongly with my wallet than I have already.
If all the older content purchasers cut off their purchases at the same time, that might be a statistic that catches DAZ with its pants down. ;)
And I agree - I know you can move stuff to G8 and from G8 to G3... it seems like a big hassle to me. I've already moved tons of content in every direction using GenX2 and other utilities, UVs etc...
With GenX3 unlikely to add G8 support, it just seems like G3 is the most mature, supportable , economical and stable generation right now.
I wish more people were not jumping on the G8 bandwagon. I think it would keep more focus on G3 and G2.
Even with discounts the Pro bundle is out of my reach right now. My orange banner says offer expires Oct. 31 but the PC Sale page says Today Only Buy Lucas 8 Pro Bundle to get Elijah 7, David 5 and Brodie Pro Bundles free. Does this mean it's a one-day sale or what?
None of the G8 deals have lasted one day that I've seen.
Ughhh... I have weak willpower. I wasn't going to bother at this point, since I'm not really into the horror or spoopy stuff. But they brought back the BYOB and darn it, I figure I could use the Parkside/West Park stuff for kitbashing references at some point in the future. And, really, $2.99 for 8 items that can be reused over time is more palatable than $4.00 for a frappucino that's done-in-one, lmao.
At least I get paid on Friday... *sigh*
I hit the BYOB twice today, but I couldn't bring myself to buy Lucas - I didn't qualify for the extra 20% - no orange banner for me - and I just wasn't convinced.
My assumption would be getting the free bundles for Elijah 7, David 5 and Brodie are "Today Only" but the 20% off is good until Oct 31.
That said, we could also see "Today Only" on tomorrow's sales page, with the same free bundles offered, with "extended" somewhere in the sales copy. It's really hard to say. But your extra 20% off won't expire for a couple of weeks.
What is missing here, is anyone seeing any items here?
