Would be nice if somebody could answer me if todays PA sale is really a weekend sale ( meaning it lasts till monday) of if its a today only sale?!

    Thx :-D

Daz is seldom explicit about how long a sale is active. However, in my experience, when they say it's a "weekend" catchup sale, it lasts the entire weekend. I've seen a weekend sale start on Thursday, (once,) or Friday, (many times,) but I've never seen a weekend sale end on a Saturday. They usually end Daz Midnight on Sunday, except when they are extended another day. As the PC Anniversary sale will start immediately after the PA Festival ends, I'm confident this weekend sale will end Sunday.

However, Daz has been known to change the details of a weekend sale. With all the complaining earlier, we might just see the older stores back in the Mega Fast Grab, (the same stores that were featured in MFG throughout the sale, but not including Aave Nainen, Sloshwerks, ironman13, Sickleyield or any other prolific PA.) If you see something you really want, don't wait until tomorrow for a better deal. If a better deal does materialize tomorrow, contact Customer Service for a refund of the difference.

It seems quiet difficult to hunt here for the "best deal" ...

However ... Thank you for the reply :-D

We call it Shopping Cart Jenga... laugh

It may help to get the Daz Deals plugin for your browser. Details are here.

    +1

It also helps to have a tendency to put a lot of stuff in your Wish List. Then when sales like this hit just sort by "only show wishlist" to find any items you're interested in. I have a very liberal criteria for what gets added to my wish list. Basically it's "if this was 80% or more off, would I buy it?". If the answer is "probably" then in the wishlist it goes. lol That's been a huge help when big sales hit, so you don't have to wade through pages and pages of stuff you're not really interested in.

I've only been around here for three+ years, so this is my 4th PC Anninversary sale. Prior to last year, there were the $2.99 Crazy Deals with 8 themed items, and the $9.95 Anniversary bundles with 10 items.

They really changed things up last year.:

Daz introduced BYOB instead of the Crazy Deals, with pages of older, $1.99 content to choose from, (as was mentioned earlier,) and that content changed every three days or so. It worked really well, at least on me. My records show I purchased 15 BYOBs last year! I have invoices for $2.99 in my order history, so I'm going to say a new release wasn't necessary to purchase BYOBs, though you couldn't get more than one per order as a 9th byob item in the cart lost discounts on all of them.

The first "Anniversary" bundle was priced at $12.95. That didn't go over well, in spite of the fact previous $10 bundles had ten $1.99 items and the $13 bundle had mostly $4 and $5 items, (regular PC+ prices, not retail.) The rest of the bundles were $9.95, but there was a compromise. Maybe fewer of the more expensive items? I don't remember. I only purchased three of them, as the other bundles had too many things I already owned to be cost effective. (Which is why the BYOB worked so well on me.)

As for other details of the sales, I seem to recall every year was different from the year before. Maybe someone who keeps all the old emails can weigh in on details of the daily sales.

Actually the bundles where more expensive than that (I think that's why they didn't go over well):

I recall $12.95 for some reason... maybe that was the compromise? The higher price definitely caused a controversy. (Yes, I'm being kind!)

  • HavosHavos Posts: 5,575

They did drop the price of the bundles of the premium PC+ items (ie the newer releases) to 12.95 as L'Adair says, but I don't think I bought any at all. The problem for me was that I typically already owned about half of what was in the newer bundles, and the price for the other half only added up to a minor saving, particularly when you consider that it was obviously the half I was least interested in.

BYOB got round that as you always got stuff you did not already own, so I will be happy if they do something similar this year.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,924

Yeah, I bought zero bundles because I had it all, or 90% of it. Remember, the store used to glitch more often (five years ago, it was ridiculous. Even four years ago. And three years ago... you get the point.) I do remember those bundles though. The BYOB (Build Your Own Bundle) was popular and asked for, so I don't see them discontinuing it. That would be stupid. LOL @ladair you're always kind!

I have a feat, it's going to be like a PRO Bundle, where you already own more than half the stuff in the bundle.

I was wrong about Halloween bundles here on Daz.

They did offer a ton of stuff(s)- once I unchecked the Hide Stuff I Own box. sad

I'm a bit confused about the PC+ sale ... I thought it was only for PC+ members?

  • NorthOf45NorthOf45 Posts: 5,690

It's focused on PC+ items, and it definitely is in your favour if you are a member. Otherwise you have to pay the "regular" discount prices, which sort of makes it another PA sale with a different range of products.

No offense to the PAs, but I'm all "PA Festival"ed out. Bring on PC+ sales!

People are just more inclined to take male authors seriously. It's cultural. {The common belief is....} Women authors write romance and boring stuff about chicks. Men write exciting adventures. You'll find plenty of women who say they prefer male authors, but not very many men who prefer female authors. And reviewers who don't try to offset bias tend to pick more men's names than women's names to review.

Yeah that "common belief" irritates me to no end. I've spent a lifetime in male-dominated fields with no huge issues (military, broadcasting, web development, I.T, etc.) I write romantic comedy across genres and have plenty of male readers who enjoy the books. I'm glad that at least some people are able to look at someone's work on its merits, rather than what set of genitals the person has.

As far as PAs, I love getting to know them through their products, and then learn more about them. It would be nice to see some interviews and features on PAs here on DAZ, like they do on Rendo. It floored me to recently read that OOT is a guy in his mid twenties! He's been doing this for quite a while. Guess he started as a teenager. What talent!

Wow, OOT is in his mid-twenties??? For some reason, I thought OOT was more than one person. I remember his products, from I think about 10 years ago!  (Could it have been a mother/son team and the son took over?) And, I know this sounds terrible, but I think he is one of the few males who can really do beautiful female faces.

Are we thinking of the same OOT? I was severely unimpressed by the only recent character I remember from him. Really nice clothing and hair though.

I'm not sure, but I don't think he does characters but rather teams up and makes bundles with people who do - he often does the hair and clothing and someone else does the character (I think, I could be wrong though). What character was it?

Emma for G3F. Yes, he is not in my mind a character artist at all. I tend to associate him with Raiya's characters.

Ah, I didn't know he released a character at Rendo. I've never bought a character from him, so can't say, but people rave about his hair and clothing - so, those seam to be his strong points. :)

Are you sure what you read wasn't a bit older as well? He has products that are more than 11 years old. So if he's in his mid 20's he'd have to have started selling things here when he was like 14. lol

would it be much work for shoemakers to offer 'no heel morph', or adjustable height heels morph, for the versatility?

i'm half hearted about the high heels outfits.

It's been updated for me. Same products, same layout, same adcopy. Text color is now purple. No new deals to be had. But anyone who failed to checkout before Daz Midnight Saturday will be happy they didn't lose any discounts.

And I'm happy to get the breather... no changes means I can go back to rendering. Working on some images for Dreamfarmer's new thread.

    Quote from today's sale:

    "Featured Artist Catalogs¥

Buy any combination of Debut New ReleasesStill New Releases or Featured Artist Catalogs¥ to get:
40% OFF for 1 OR 50% OFF* FOR 2 OR MORE

Put any Debut New releaseStill New Releases in your cart to get an EXTRA 20% OFF¥*Featured Artist Catalogs "

How do you understand this, should it stack or not ?

So let's say you have 1 still new release and 1 featured artist item in your cart, should it be (-10% -20%) -70% for the featured artist item ?

YAY Pose Blender is NOW DISCOUNTED!

And the interview in which OOT stated he was mid-twenties was posted in the last month or so. So yeah, I suspect he started modeling as a kid. Not a huge shock; lots of nerdy teens can get pretty skilled in their obsessions.

When I was Poser and V4 only I bought lots of his characters at Rendo, but I think some are no longer in the store. I'm almost positive I have some of his characters  that I don't see for sale anymore (or in my account!). I'm pretty sure the name of a character that I love and used often was Jennifer and the character is no longer in the store! I will have to check my computer! And then he has the adorable Dolly and Elfie for G2 which I still have t figured out how to get in DS. That's another problem, I don't know how to install products from Rendo into DS without hours of manually putting things into folders... Anyway, what is left of his characters are here: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/vendor/outoftouch?uid=outoftouch&username=outoftouch&sub_category=3D+Figure+Assets;Characters

You can see from one of the bundles that a character Camilla is no longer for sale alone.

Anyway, here are some of his characters although I really feel there used to be more, some earlier V4 ones that I don't see.. Some are combined with the great artist Freja so he may have not done it alone but it seems since Genesis, his characters are all his.

For that offer, 60% is correct.

Buy 1 get 40% off. Buy more than 1 and get 50% off. Straight-forward, either/or, no math involved.

Buy [something] and get an extra N% off requires math. In this case, the 20% "stacks," which means it is applied to the balance after the other discounts are applied. (Stacking discounts are the norm at Daz. If the discounts add, Daz will be explicit, as they were with the entire PA Festival sale with the 40%/50% terminology.)

    I hope this helps.

ok, thank you, but shouldn't it be -70% following this, -50% for buying more than one (any combination !) and -20% on top for buying a still/debut new item ? :)

(talking about the example in my earlier post with 1 still new and 1 featured artist item)

but maybe I understand 'stacking' wrong, I'm no native speaker

No, because you get 50%, then 20% off the new price. Not X(50%+20%), but X50%=NewX, and NewX20%. :)

Welcome to the world of DAZ Maths 40% off for one & 50% off for two is simple enough, but the 'Extra ' discount in Dazland always means xx% off the discounted price, therefore the extra 20% off this time is 20% off the 50% price.

    Full price=$10

40% off and you pay $6

50% off and you pay $5

    Extra 20% off and you pay $5 - 20% (of the $5 price) =  $5-$1 so you pay $4 or 60% off.

You are not alone in failing to grasp this, many a native English speaker has been caught out with the maths on the site. Just remember if it says 'Extra xx%' off it means that percentage of the discounted price not the full store price.

    Hope this helps clarify it.
