’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
....winds have shifted and tomorrow has an 80% chance of water from the sky so that should scrub it all out. Just wish it would improve my texting ability as well.
...yeah, as I tell people, I tend to create new languages and dialects when I text.
Autocorrect doesn't help much either (if anything it sometimes makes matters worse).
...had a big waffle cone crammed full of my favourite ice cream: Espresso Madness.

Was watching plane spotter vids from my old hometown of MIlwaukee. Felt disappointed as today, most of the flights in and out of there are on those pint sized regional jets instead of full size airliners. I remember when Stratocruisers (the "jumbo" of the propeller days, it actually had a lounge below the passenger deck accessed by a spiral staricase), 707s, 720s, 727s DC-8s, DC-10s and 747s used to land there regularly. Now the largest planes seen there are the National Guard air refulers (KC-135s) along with converted DC10 and A-300 freighters for UPS and FedEx.
Crikey, the airport has 2 mile long runways and one of the nicest "passenger freindly" terminals in the nation (much better than O'Hare) yet is terribly underutiised.
(all attachments, pictures from "back in the day" at MKE airport)
Beware the Jabberwock my son,
The jaws the bite, the claws that catch;
Beware the Jub-Jub bird,
and shun the frumious Bandersnatch.
(from memory -- it's the only English poem I ever memorized... 54 years ago. Still know it all
)

Back in the late '60s when I was in college, the Melbourne, Florida airport hosted 727s and I'd take a flight to Buffalo via Tampa. No gangway entrances, we walked out onto the tarmac and up the plane's own deployable stairway either on the side front or sometimes into the stairway under the tail. Cool!

Content paradise looks different.
my cp birthday coupie expired.
been wanting the NearMe figure.
Not here. They ditched American Dad, too. Even CBS is getting into the pay thing. New Star Trek series, they're going to show us one episode, the rest will be on they're pay service.
Can't afford extras like that right now. I'm very disappointed!

I put some TetraMin in my tank then sat down. Looked at tank and the TetraMin I put in the tank is gone. I cannot see any of it on the surface of the water.
Possibly. There are two ways of measuring the seasons: Meterologically and Astronomically. (this is kinda the weather version of the difference between UTC and GMT)
Meterological seasons are determined by the annual temperature sycle. They are exactly three months long and run September-November (Autumn/Fall), December-February (Winter), March-May (Spring), June-August (Summer). They always start and end on the same date, which is handy.
Astronomical seasons are determined by the position of the Earth's orbit in relation to the sun, and the variation in day length causese by the tilt of the Earth's axis. They run from solstice (longest or shortest day) to equinox (literally "equal night", where day length and night length are the same). Technically, it's the point when the Earth crosses the celestial equator. So the seasons run from the Spring/Vernal equinox to the Summer solstice (Spring), the Summer solstice to the Autumnal/Fall equinox (Summer), the Autumn/Fall equinox to the Winter solstice (Autumn/Fall), and the Winter solstice to the Spring/Vernal equinox (Winter). The big problem with this is that the solstices and equinoxes move around by up to three days, partly because the year is 365.25 days long (why we get leap years), and partly because of time zones, meaning the date varies according to where you are in the world at that instant. The solstices and equinoxes are reversed for the southern hemisphere.
Contrary to XKCD, equinox is not "British for solstice".
So, meterological Autumn/Fall 2017 runs from September 1 to November 30, and astronomical Autumn/Fall 2017 runs from September 22 to December 20.

...ahh the latter also nicknamed the "DB Cooper door". Both the DC-9 and French Built Caravalle has an underthe tail stairway as well.
727s were great and one of my faves It was cool to sit just behind the wing and watch it almost double in width when those huge flaps came out on landing approach. Eastern called them "Whisperjets" but they were anything but if you heard one take off overhead. Granted, they were quiter inside as the engines were all behind you (unless you sat in the very last two rows).
...been getting emails myslef all week from SmithMicro about the upcoming changes.
...hungry hungry fishies.
...big change today, cloudy, breezy, and cool. It literally is like someone flipped a switch and said, "summer's over, its fall now". No water from the sky (yet) though.
Bah the weather service I have on the phone keeps crashing to the desktop for some ridiculous reason. Sometimes I really get irritated with the Android OS, but can't afford an 600$ - 800$ iPhone though.
At least all the smoke we've been dealing with is gone. Been a really bad summer for that here, combined with the 90° and 100° temps we had, made it intolerable at times.
Food for thought... https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2017/09/you-are-already-living-inside-a-computer/539193/?single_page=true

Wow, I haven't gotten an emial from them in quite a long time. What are these changes?
Dana
Morning. Big wind bending treetops and straightening flags, guess that is some kind of balance happening there :)
..looks mostly cosmetic so far.
..interesting read.
Yeah I laway like to comment about remembering whne a phone sat on a table in the living room and had a cord going into the wall, when you had to send your letter to the editor in the mail, go to the department store to buy clothes, make sure you have "exact change" (or tickets/tokens) to get on the bus, etc.
I will admit one area I find where the smartphone has made my life better is taking transit. I can "punch up" my fare to show to the driver or conductor and don't need a pocket full of change or book of tickets ror a flimsy paper transfer that can easily get lost or torn. I can purchase additional tickets in the comfort of home or even on my way to the bus stop or tram platform without having to go out of my way to an outlet that sells them. I can check on how soon it will be before the bus arrives (so I might be able to duck into the corner coffee shop to get a cup of joe to go while waiting) and figure out the best most efficient way to get somewhere without having to sift through a pile of individual paper schedules and attempt to cobble connections together. So yes, in this way computer technology does makes life a little simpler (and I don't have to light up a ciggie to make the bus show up).
My other uses are keeping track of sporting events, the weather, checking news headlines, and as a snapshot camera while out and about. Funny, only occasionally do I actually use it as a telephone.
One of the bad side effects of the "personal communication revolution" was the demise of the old public telephone box. I remember not too long ago there were several public telephones within a couple blocks distance from my apartment. With the advent of cell phones, public phones almost semed to disappear overnight. I remember one time (before I got my first flip phone), I needed to make an important phone call (didn't have a landline at the time) and had to walk nearly a mile to the nearest supermart to find a public telephone. Crikey, where is Superman supposed to change into costume these days?
chocolate chips are optional & you can use cherry liqueur about 1/3 of the amount of buttermilk but I guess the kilo of sugar or so isn't optional for the cake or the filling :)
prolly too late but not Bill and Ted, no :)
