Ever since I bought the forest set I have been determined that I was going to put it to use in a decent render eventually. It really canes my render times, immensely if using Lux, but since I recently picked up Lorella the Elf and her cute outfit I felt it was the only set that could do her justice. Luckily she uses Victoria 4 textures, so I used the interjections set to add in some decent SSS.

If you have any tips for better results, I'm all ears... no elf puns intended.

You have the same issue I did when I started using Elite textures with genesis the inside of the mouth looks lit up. Thought that had been fixed
Yeah, I found the issue was related to the lighting setup I had, since there are SSS maps in the mouth as well. Hiding the inside of the mouth seemed to make it worse though, not better, since light was effectively penetrating through the cheeks.

Well, I dusted off my old Texture Converter and decided to start converting the SSS maps for K4 since I do make extensive use of Kaelyn and Ella textures for children. Initial results aren't too bad, but there's always room for improvement. The K4 textures generally aren't very detailed, since getting photoreal images of children has too many legal hurdles to jump. As a result, the only way to really get good results is to use adult textures, but that has it's own share of problems since younger skin has far fewer imperfections and tends to be a lot smoother.

One day perhaps I'll find the holy grail of K4 textures but until then I'll be happy with Kaelyn. Here she is with the interjection maps converted for her.

    Looks good,

I hadn't really noticed the inside of the mouth with the HSS, I don't tend to add it to the inner mouth and haven't really paid attention to any Elite presets in that area. I'll have a look when I open DS up again. I'm committing my energies to a non 3D project right now and want to get it done no matter how long it takes. I can't afford to get sidetracked as I totally lose focus on the project.

Playing around more with using the interjections on K4 and came up with this. It's probably the first time I've used Sadie and K4 in the same render as well.

Foregive me, haven't posted anything for a while, been wrestling with animating this wolf with a LAMH fur coat. Think it is getting kinda realistic (believable?), although I think I'm going to add reflect to the coat if I can figure out something lightweight.

    Very nice,

I will do similar with Garibaldi hair on a werewolf when I get round to it. I also want to turn the Genesis Gorilla into a proper King Kong.

Looks like the free LAMH player for DS 4.5 Pro is working well
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/17802/
Below is the DS 4.5 Pro render of V5 Lora and the free Tina Turnover hair available from:
    http://www.furrythings.com/presets/
In the LAMH player I have applied one of the available Human Hair shader presets.
Rendering Time: 4 minutes 18.12 seconds

    Interesting,

I asked Catharina from Mec4D about hair a while back and she wasn't impressed with LAMH and preferred Garibaldi. I have yet to try it for myself, but definitely aim to.

I also like Garibaldi, but since there are a lot of free LAMH presets available right now
and LAMH player is free, why not to use both tools, dependent on the actual needs.
Another example DS 4.5 Pro render using Genesis Extra Long Hair preset on V5 Lora.

    Looks good,

Mmm, I might look into LAMH.... we'll see....

That said, I suspect Garibaldi hair will have more presets soon, it's only just out of beta.

    Nice,

When this thread hits 98 I'm starting a new one. That's just in case I don't get a notification and you lot hit the 100 page limit without giving me chance to start a new thread.

You'd better get this one locked then when you start the new thread. Otherwise, you may wind up with some people posting to this thread too.

Well, 98 was just to remind me to start a new one before 100,

There can be a handover when we get this to 100, it should lock itself then, unless the limit isn't 100 pages now...

More options the better. If you read the Reality board at rendo its not as good. I am used to Reality but in the end another option to use the Luxrender. may prove easier for some.
