LMAO! I have a hospital, casino and a server room. Maybe I need to invest in a few well known look alike characters...
Okay, now that I'm finally settling down to buy some of these nice VP goodies, a few questions come to mind.
While I can not speak for all VP products, I have helped convert and tested several in Vue, 3DS Max and Poser. Most model conversions are done by content creators with expertise in that software, and independantly tested. This way products look their best and take advantage of the animation and render features specific to the rendering application. Here is what I have experienced:
Poser products generally work fine in DS. If items are not identifiied by the smart content tab, use the content library tab to add the runtime and load Poser figures, props and materials etc.
The VP products that are sofd as DS (DUF) are optimized for DAZ Studio with materals shaders for 3Delight and IRay as specified.
Vue products ONLY work in Vue, version 9 and higher unless otherwise specified. While Poser poser products and animations work fine in Vue, reverse is not true. Vue renders of Vue models will look different and may have different materials and textures than a Poser import of same model (optimized for Poser).
3DS products are created in 3DS Max. Most OBJ are created by Lightwave or 3dsMax.
If you dont see a model; optimized for your favorite rende, do let VP know.
Oh... and yeah... use products in fake news....at your own risk. ;D
From what I've found (as someone who's actually taking the products and updating them) that for the most part, the poser products will work ok in Daz. Their base functionality works, generaly speaking. There may be some rigging issues here or there. The materials included are fine for basic 3DL renders.
(I feel i should point out after saying that, the new versions that are coming out for Daz Studio by me will often feature updated rigging, additional geometry and options and whatever else catches my fancy as I work on it....I don't just slap an Uber shader on and call it a day. The one I hope will show up in store next I stripped down to just the polygons and rebuilt it bones and all to fit my standards of what a product should be.)
Have you seen, that Vanishing Point are selling their stuff at Unity Asset store, too? May be, that explains, why some models vanished from their collection at Daz 3D.
So, did Vanishing Point vanish again? My order pages for the products that I bought from VP through Daz are no longer showing links to product pages, and I can't find a Daz page for the Vanishing Point products...
Must have.
*sigh* I had the minivan for Daz on my wish list. I guess I'll have to buy it from that other site then...
Argleblargle. It also seems to be affecting the wishlist — I had a bunch of VP stuff wishlisted, and now I have a bunch of black swirlies in my wishlist that don't go away and don't resolve, all clumped at the top of the list.
What's this going to mean for the D|S conversions?
No worries, DAZ Studio conversions of VanishingPoint's products will be continuing development and for sale at thier .biz website and other 3d content outlets.
