OK, stupid question time.
Soooo, Victoria 8 and some of the other characters in the sale today require Genesis 8. I'm not seeing a Genesis 8, just some morphs and addons for Genesis 8. Victoria 8 is based on Genesis 8, but the 'link' to the Genesis 8 base figure isn't a link, just text.
How do I get Genesis 8?
Look into your product library (search: genesis 8), you will see essentials available for download, base is free for all.
Dang. Just when I thought I'd hit my spending llimit for the month...
Just opened up DIM. Yep, Genesis 8 starter essentials is there, as are the Gen 8 Power Pose templates.

I was not expecting this so soon. I mean, by the end of the year, but wow... I just started with Daz at the end of 2015, so more or less at the junction of Vicky 6 and 7, Gen 2 and Gen 3. Now, we're already onto Gen 8? Wow...
Had anyone tried Vicky 8? How does she work? How backward compatible is she?

Genesis 3 skins work on the new gal too apparently. I sure do like the sound of that :P

Yes you do otherwise boom explody things happen. Oh comes with G8, Lashes, Basic Wear set (its cute), Toulouse hair (again) and some poses.

New Daz released yesterday has some Iray settings that Victoria 8 uses, so update is in order for her to look properly. There's been bug fixes in that release too.
Essentials have the base, some basic clothing and hair, and poses.
What's the basic clothing and hair? I havne't upgraded to the new DS yet so not downloading it till I do, just curious.
Bra, panties, shorts, tanktop... hair is good'ol Touloise hair. And oh, materials for base of course.
Is this true? If so I'm in :) Surprised that's not mentioned on the main promo.
I had to reinstall Daz after downloading Essentials in order to have Daz Studio run properly. I did apply a G3 Skin easily and beautifully. Basic hair is Toulouse, yeah.
The Autofit clones presented are... limited. Dress, hair, full-body, none.
All skins based off Genesis 3 Base UVs will work fine, other UVs (Victoria etc) will need some adjusting.
Someone in another thread tried it and said it worked and Silver I think it was said that yes, the Genesis 3 skins were compatible. I thought it odd nothing was said about that either ;).

Quick note about Genesis 8. There are some 'group' pose controls such as hand grasp, move both arms/legs simultaneously, that sort of thing.

I got a warning when I loaded the Genesis 8 figure (haven't upgraded yet) but I'm still able to manipulate the figure. There are probably a few assets missing though, so I'll bite the bullet and upgrade my Daz. Hopefully nothing breaks...
This is the ugliest Victoria yet, she seems to get less femine and more masculine with each version. And some of the promos are downright creepy looking. This is an easy pass. I'll be saving a lot money this year.

I'm used to seeing a longer list of options when I use Autofit for G3. I wasn't sure what to select for the top, for example, so I went with 'none' for everything except the Whymsy skirt.

I think she means that those are all the fitting choices when applying an older item to the new Genesis 8/Vicky 8. I'm used to pants, shirts, dresses, hair, full body, among others.

How bad is the dreaded v-tear in dresses/skirts autofit?
And do the movement/fitting morphs work when auto-fitted to G8? Whimsy, for example, has lots of them - that's why I bought it.
I tested it out on my new armor and seems to work pretty good !
Just the essentials.
