They actually have a lot more clothes and hairs than you think. They have the morphing clothes- way more than V4 ever did. V3 has The Dress, MFD, Morphing Cocktail Dress, Morphing Tunic, T-Shirt, Cat Suit, Starlet Dress and Victorian Coat. I think there are a few others too, and lots of textures, both free and in the store. They're older, so the textures don't always look great in Iray. A3 and S3 have most of those sets too or can use them. Plus there are second skins out there for them, quite a bit. A3 also has many cool clothes still in the store. Lady LittleFox has some very good clothes and hair for Gen 3, with lots of morphs.
For the price of a cross dresser license, you can convert anything for V4 or M4, or other older characters to fit Gen3. I use this only when the native clothing doesn't fit, because you sometimes lose the morphs, or things break in weird places (Cross Dresser has info on how to fix that.)
Hair- a lot of V4 and M4 hairs work and come with fits for them (usually in the morph dials.) Other hairs can be parented instead of fitted and work great. Just zero the figure, load hair, position to head as desired, then parent to head. I have V3 and M3 wearing G3F and G3M hair in some of my renders.
I picked these up at 0.41 cents aswell, at least it keeps me as a bonus buyer for three more days. I would have picked up some more Melody stuff if she had been a proper morph for A3, instead of being a unique OBJ file with a custom head but A3's body. Although that means Melody can wear A3's clothing, because the head is not a morph of A3's head there is no way to transfer her, or all those other animal head morphs over to the Genesis figures using Generation X. Whilst I do have a reasonable collection of A3 clothing, I would still rather use the shape on one of the more modern figures, particularly since there is now a way to use Melody's skin on G3F.
Most of what I've tried has worked, but the Dynamic ones probably won't.
Plus, if you autofit to Star 2.0, you can then autofit to any other G3F. Or if you have the reverse clones from Valzheimer or Sickleyield, you can get that stuff on Genesis and Genesis 2. CrossDresser will let you convert it to other older figures as well.
Also- Anything by Evil Innocence has universal fit morphs built in. That PA designed Cross Dresser, so those clothes definitely work with it, and there are many additional fits for them available for free on their website (it's a husband and wife team.)
Yes, the muzzle flashes are included. When you load a weapon into a scene, the AMX Assualt Rifle for instance, you can click the AMX_Fire 'on' in the scene tab.
Actually, that is often part of the challenge with those old generation 3 characters... figuring out what WILL work and what won't work across characters. There is a "thigh fix" script out there too that fixes issues when trying to use different material maps across the Generation 3 characters.

It is weird that I don't mind spending a ton of time using shaders and geografts and making custom D-Formers on old content like Big Bill... but digging around in the content library trying to breath new life into Generation 3 characters doesn't give me the same kind of satisfaction... In either case you're fighting to get more mileage out of old content. I think the frustrating thing for me with the Generation 3 characters is that it really kind of points out how bad Studio Content Management is. I wish there was a way to search the entire Content Library folder structure at one time for folder names as WELL as the names of content. For example, I just opened Poser Formats, My Daz 3D Library, Camera, Bakery and the cams are named Exterior #1 38mm, Interior #2 35MM, etc. Nothing to indicate that they're part of a set of content named "bakery" other than the folder name they're in. If run into this a lot with hair. The Hair has a name, the folder has this name, but there may be ribbons or ties, or other accessories that aren't clearly associated with that hair scattered around in props, materials, poses.... and if you didn't read the ReadMe file when you installed it months ago and REMEMBER the specific instructions... good luck figuring it out now half a year down the road. :)
I end up using a bunch of different strategies... including using DIM manager to find HTML, PDF and Text readme files, Smart Content and the Content Library, and using ATI's browser plugin to find online Readme files through my Product Library here at DAZ3d.com... but I still feel like there are gigabytes of content on my drive that I don't really have a handle on how it all works together.
I had the original Star in my cart a while back when she was under $2 - and then didn't pull the trigger for the same reason - concern that she was a custom figure that GenX wouldn't be able to transfer - and having just one character with no clothes or hair or skin textures really isn't a good deal at any price. A lot of times these older characters can be useful with GenX and dialing in some other figures and adding a more modern realistic skin map. But if there isn't GenX support for transferring the morphs, I'll generally skip them. This one, at $.49 - I felt the same way - it was a cheap way to keep the Bonus Buyer rolling and maybe I'll find some use for them some day.
Star 2.0 seems like she would be a better deal - but that character hasn't been on a big enough sale to make me jump.
Here is a list of links to free resources for Aiko 3...

Thanks Xavier. I hadn't looked at the promos properly so totally missed the muzzle flashes/fire on them :) I was remembering a "Muzzle Flash" prop product I had seen a while ago, so thought that might have been what was referred to. I ended up getting the Assault rifle one - my G3F's don't have nearly enough guns!!
Two items by Canary3D in the Fast Grab that look very promising:
There are some great shoes on sale today. Grace Pumps caught my eye. The beautiful stockings come with it, and it's for Gen 4 and Genesis (again- it can go backwards and forwards for everyone.) With a Still Mad item in my cart, it came to $2.79.
Thanks for this @donovancolbert ! That solves some problems I was having on the V3 High Fantasy Set when putting the second skins on A3.
And I'm jealous of my 3D models. They have way better shoes now than I do. OMG, shoe shopping + DAZ = deadly!
changelingchick's reagan character has great freckles. anagennesis 2 brings them out really nicely.

Thanks - I hadn't spotted (pun, sorry) her before. I've been thinking of buying Rune for a long time but am now waiting for a good sale price. Maybe Reagan will appear as a related item too.
Thanks for the bigger picture. Odd looking blotchyness to the skin and I'm wondering if you have the veins switched off because I can't see them even in the full-sized image.
The thing about pre-V4 content is that they are great for non-realistic characters. If you want realism, you use V7 or even V4. If you want anime/stylized Aiko 3 and original Star are great for that and they are not meant to have realistic skins... I got Star and several products for her back when RDNA was still a separate store and I was doing promo work for some of the items and I personally like original Star better than 2.0. And you can get morphs for her (somewhere else.) But I'm not sure why people want to use old content and make them look real with IRay because they look great as stylized characters and for realism, just stick to Genesis 3...
What's the deal for putting Genesis 2 shoes on a genesis 3 figure?
Who remembers?
Matter of fact, some of those shoes shoes are as old as Genesis 1...
Autofit should handle G2->G3, but you can also use Wear Them All. It does a great job, and will bring forward anything from V4, Genesis, G2M, and G2F.
you're welcome!
reagan's skin and shape work just fine with base g3f, too. :)

So Genesis 1 shoes is a wrap as in "Don't get those!"?/
There's a whole rack of Victoria 3 shoes....
What to do about those?
I'm more about taking old character shapes, including stylized ones, and incorporating them as dailed morphs via GenX to enhance Gen2 and Gen3 characters. I find that frequently a dash of a stylized character introduced into a photorealistic one gives great results. Sometimes bringing those old skins over and applying them with a new UV and some iRay enhancements gives pretty cool results, too.
But very rarely am I interested in rendering a strictly, stock Generation 2 or Generation 3 character, realistic or stylized.
But in that sense, I like bringing a little bit of every generation to the table when I'm creating a scene. Moving the content around from generation to generation and seeing what you can do with it is part of the fun for me. Taking a sparking new 3Delight truck and making it a beat up, rusting road-warrior war machine, or taking a dinghy sailboat and giving it a fresh coat of paint for a day out on the lake - those are the kind of projects I enjoy the most. I like it if people don't instantly recognize the content I used in my composition because I've used it in such a way that it doesn't even seem like the same content.
In the situation with the truck, Aiko3 made a great hood ornament with a metal shader. :)
I'm having a great time getting V3s into Iray. I do love photorealism, but I think I'm going for more of a middle ground between that and a painted look. I love romanticism in art. If it's well lit, it doesn't have to be realistic, just look good.
V4 and Genesis items can come forward AND go backwards. Use Wear Them All to bring forward to G2 and G3. They may work with V4, but have to experiment. Otherwise, take them backwards with Cross Dresser.
The truck render I did, I got a lot of people saying they mistook it for a photograph at first. I actually thought it had a kind of stylized look - that it looked more like a painting than CGI. I liked that about it, actually, and when people started going, "wow, I thought that was a photo at first," my first thought was, "really?!?" Heh. Go figure. :)
LOL! Poor Aiko 3! Relegated to a hood ornament!
I bet she'd look good on the front of a pirate ship too. Just sayin'!
Or even a SAILBOAT! Heh. There we go! Now I'll have to see how well Aiko 3 handles Will Timmin's wood shaders! :D
I have never had good luck autofitting shoes, especially heels and there have been plenty of threads from others having the same issues. In most cases users usually advise sticking to shoes for the specific figure, do you have a special workaround that works?
Skip them unless you are using them on V3. from my experience (and I am a heel fan) shoes do not transfer to other figures well.
I don't, but now I'll have to play with them, just because...
See what you went and made me do, @llynara?
I really dig Aiko3 for jobs like this, though.
OMG, that's awesome!!! The boat looks great too! :D
Aw... thanks! The boat is stock. Used the water from Terradome 3 with the red morning sky HDRI dome, and Aiko 3 is wearing a V4 dress that didn't cover her top, her bodice, bracers, sword and wings from Angel of Light, and Will Timmins' procedural shaders. :) I just wanted to get something out while the idea was still hot in my mind.
