Good one!
I'd like to see something in the Gift Card umbrella. That's truly missing.
And that 16,000 SKU could use some widening, bit hey, two weeks left. I wonder what this weekend will bring.
I keep saying "This is the last purchase for a while" and then something kewl drops.
With the buy anything new as a trigger, I'm finding it easy to keep the status, as products keep the new label for awhile. And with the 10% discount on 50%, I'm scooping up things from the stores. I do have to say I'm doing Fast Grab and the stores more than the new releases, but it varies by the day. I am liking the water product from today. I got the Pirate's Treasure (about time we got something realistic!) I've wishlisted the Old Chapel and Yumi Hair, both of those are also practical. The Yumi is yummy for kids hair! The Candy Dress is practical and has great morphs, I don't need anymore dresses so I wishlisted it too. (Edit, and no, I don't think you're wrong. There's a lot of sci-fi!)
Actually it appears that the no-brows version also has brows, they're just more delicate and look much better IMO.
I'm a life-long sci-fi fan in novels and movies but, oddly, not for this hobby. Lord of the Rings is in my top 5 favourite books but I have no interest in posing Orcs or Elves. Even less interest in Warrior Queens and Super Heroes.
I like to create close-to-life fantasies around ordinary looking people. Some are admittedly adult in nature, some more family friendly. I used to draw and paint but was never good enough to depict life to my own satisfaction. CG gives me another outlet for my imagination and observation without having to delve into the realms of the fairies.
Funny, I started out only wanting to do Vogue like fashion images and even used some sci-if/fantasy stuff for avant-garde high fashion looks but then someone saw my work and suggested I go to Comic-Con and that changed everything! I still like doing fashion stuff for fun, but the sci-fi/fantasy art is what people want to see--and buy. So now I do the opposite, take any real world little dress and boots and with the right shaders, you have a sci-if outfit LOL. I think almost any outfit can be made to look like something completely different by kit bashing or using shaders. Pants from most fantasy outfits can look like regular pants with a jeans shader, same with a lot of the tops. In any case there are TONS of real world stuff already in the store!
Thankfully, I don't have anything to sell so I don't need to cater for what other people want to buy. It is purely a hobby (which takes up far too much of my time) I just hope that DAZ doesn't lose sight of the fact that they have customers with no interest in fantasy/sci-fi.
Just for a little background, I found DAZ Studio after playing The Sims 2 (more than a dozen years ago). There was a modding community which allowed users to make their own morphs and clothes and share them online. I started looking for something a little less "low-poly" and found DAZ and Poser. I could not get along with Poser so stuck with DAZ Studio. That's when the addiction took hold.
I got started for book covers in my Midwest series, which is real world, real people. But I also have a superhero series, and ideas for many others that range from fantasy to sci fi and beyond. I think I now own a little of everything. Not into horror, though I may need to render some monsters for my peeps to fight. And I wasn't into toons until Toon Generations 2 came out. Now I love the toon stuff.
If you are refering to a trigger for the Bonus Buyer discount the item doesn't even have to be new. Any non-free purchase will work
I almost got the Pirates Treasure but the coiins don't look authentic for the time period (when they would have been hand struck). I also would have liked additional textures for the chest to make it appear more aged. (i.e. how it would appear if found today).
And NOW I'm hungry. :P
This is what I'm doing. Buying something really cheap every 3 days or so (it doesn't have to be new). To me it's worth it because it keeps my banner discount and it also gets me a new freebie every 2 or 3 days.
Fast Grab has been madder than the Promo sales this March, for sure.
Normally, during a sales-event like this, I don't even look twice at new Fast Grab sales. I had come to see Fast-Grab as sales for non-PC+ members.
Not this March, though.
I've had a cheap PC+ item in my cart for a week waiting to trigger the banner when I see something I want to buy in the MM sale. Nothing has taken my fancy in all that time. Old toons, women wielding axes and swords, zombies, furries and fauns ... sorry, can't be enthused. Fast Grab may be the place to look but I suspect I already have most of the items I would grab from there.
That's too bad. Those with the March Madness Bonus Buyers Banner are getting some good freebies. So far we've gotten:

https://www.daz3d.com/castle-interior
https://www.daz3d.com/classic-axes
https://www.daz3d.com/the-fence-collection

https://www.daz3d.com/legendary-blades
https://www.daz3d.com/containment-corridor
https://www.daz3d.com/dragon-hunt-weapons
And a couple other things - I can't remember what they are.
I got the fence collection which will be useful. Otherwise they are, again, mostly in the fantasy/sci-fi genre. I'm really not trying to be critical of the genre, I just have the impression that this is the type of content we shall be seeing from now on. I hope not but, if so, I will save some cash for a change.
Yup, this sale is more like March Mildness.
Same here, Fast Grab has had some great deals.
I've been looking for the perfect way to describe it, and you just found it! :)
The first half of the month was pretty good, but the second half has been blah. Hopefully there will be some sort of Fantabulous Final Four or somesuch.....
Same here — I do check out the Fastgrab, but not all that regularly. I've already had a couple of goodies I hadn't previously considered turn up, then drop off the page before I'd collected a decent cartful and decided to buy. Ah well, I've wishlisted them... for later.
As for the sale itself, I just call it the March I-Just-Get-These-Headaches.
(Yes, it's a Discworld riff — a couple of the late Sir Pterry's stories mentioned the author of the Necrotelecomnicon, Achmed the Mad, although he preferred to be called Achmed the I Just Get These Headaches...)
Similar to my tag for the sale - 'March Maths Migraine' :)
Ah yes...With the fawn sale, I couldn't help but think of the great long man mound that tells all the disc about the prowess of the king of the elves.
I think it's been pretty good. We got like 8-10 freebies and the RuntimeDNA 14 cent madness was pretty awesome.
The best sale so far was the utilities and training sale. I won't knock that one. But, I've been pretty disappointed with the lack of Pro Bundle discounts and even character discounts haven't been as steep as in past sales.
The RunTimeDNA 14 cent madness stuff was almost all in the "7 Days of Christmas" freebie sale, where we got, what - potentially 30 things free over a week long period?
I mean, I'm not *complaining* about getting to finish off my RDNA wishlist for several bucks instead of $50... And the bonus buyer freebies - it is hard to moan and whine about free stuff.
And the terms with gift-cards means that I ended up getting about $30 more in store credit than I ever paid for over the duration of the sale - so far...
But... I'm just saying... compared to *past* sales... this one proved a little anti-climactic.
I doubt it is an accident, either. DAZ seems pretty saavy at marketing and data analysis - and I get it that they're trying to balance keeping the PAs happy with keeping the content-consumers purchasing as much as possible.
I said this back during the Christmas sale... if DAZ is looking at the long term trends, I imagine they're fine tuning to see where the sweet spot is between discounts so steep they cause huge bulk sales at low profit versus prices so expensive they make huge profits but far fewer sales. If my purchases this March so far are any thing like typical - their total sales this March are going to be lower than last March, but profits per sale will be higher.
It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall in their corporate meetings.
That fence collection looks really useful - I would have bought something to get it if I'd known it was even there.
I'm really unimpressed with this sale. Not because I don't think the offers are good but because they're all so secretive. When they had stack up sales that required people to buy regularly to maintain the stacks everyone hated it. This is basically the same thing except everything is kept hidden to encourage people to buy just in case something good pops up.
The best sale so far was the utilities and training sale. I won't knock that one. But, I've been pretty disappointed with the lack of Pro Bundle discounts and even character discounts haven't been s steep as in past sales.
I was so hoping that DAZ would repeat that sale and add sales for other categories also.
I'm a noobie, so I had pretty much just freebies before March, & I'm a sci fi fantasy nerd so I'm loving the sale. - except for the part where I'm broke and things keep popping up on sale from my wish list...and the really cool things I hadn't seen yet, so didn't know they should be in my wish list.... to be honest I think my wish list is still growing, but so is my content library, so again, no complaints here. :D
I'm with deathbycanon. I'm six months in and this is like a fantasy.
When I started it was September so Christmas and New Year's Eve was excellent.
Now, this March madness is building the foundation of my lifetime library. I was just saying that I can't imagine anything else grabbing my attention.
I've put kraken and Octopus and Squid in the search engine several times since I've been on here. I actually bought a man-o-war just to get something for a particular story I have coming. And against all expectations, there is a real kraken in the store.- and it looks incredible. Plus, the new alien from Crocket- what an awesome time to be brand new.
I wish they had better deals though, it's not bad for the year, but to shove it all in 1 month, who has money like that?
Maybe it's time Daz created their own credit card. lol
I got stuff in multiple genres so fortunately, unfortunately everything seems to fit.
Even that new glas shader. i saw the email and thought, " I have to out that on a person and see what happens" That might be a superhero, a ghost character..a weapon effect that turns people to glass before they shatter....a new medusa monster effect....instead of stone.....
Glass armor.....glass shield....swords....I already have a song featuring a glass dragon so...
Yeah, it's REALLY not cool that they keep the freebies hidden. This thread is pretty helpful in that reguard though: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/152301/don-t-guess-here-s-the-current-bonus-buyer-freebie#latest
If you keep an eye on that thread, there seams to be a new freebie every 3 days or so.
But I totally agree, having that as a hidden thing just seams strange.
Part of it is sale fatigue; after getting pro bundles for less than $10, 50% off featured artist catalogues seems anticlimactic...
