What good deals did you guys find today?

A) Every item that interests me is for POSER
B) Once again, requires the purchase of another item. I like the Geisha Dress, but I have to buy the morphing coat also. Same for figures. I have V4 and that's it.lol
C) They're all to do with IDL or something with color for POSER - they look pretty cool, but.....
D) They are just damn OLD...Resources for Terragen 1..really? Victoria when she still had braces? Genesis faces....?

I'm going to slide into jerk-mode with you, cos I kinda agree. :) I don't use V4 at all so those ones are no good to me, and I THINK some of the morphs showcased use pmd's so no good in DS anyway. The terradome stuff is for Poser only. The "ibl etc" things are for Poser only. The only thing that might of been of interest to me was Thursday's Child for Cookie....but while I have cookie, I never use her. And to be honest, I'm not that particularly interested in spending hours tweaking Thursday's Child for iray. As a freebie, I would have nabbed it...and probably had it sit in my runtime for a looooong time before I got around to doing anything. And because of the coupon glitch, I couldn't be bothered paying the extra money and then waiting a few days for customer service to refund the difference...and not even really now due to currency differences whether it'd be the same or less. (plus we shouldn't have to do that - it should work right the first damn time).
If you're a Poser user and/or you still use V4, that sale is BRILLIANT :)
On the other hand, it's quite possible that all the interesting stuff for me is not showing cos I already have it. LOL.
I agree, it all seems so dated. To be honest, I've only got to see 'RDNA' and my eyes glaze over. I've no doubt that it all has it's uses for a lot of people, just not me. I bought some of the plants when they first moved over, but that was enough for me to realise that not only is a lot of it not exactly optimised for Studio, the sales pages are vague to say the least. Do these plants have geometry, or are they just billboards? If I squint at the page long enough or turn it upside down to shake it for a bit to see what drops out, I might find out. Life's too short.
There might well be a few things I 'might' use eventually that are going cheaply, but there have been a few bargains in more recent or even new items since the sale began and I'd rather save my money for any more of those that might show up. It's still only the 9th of the month.
Anything with really old stuff is kinda mute at this point. I cleaned it out and went nuts when it first got discounted.
I don't even think there's too many old items left on my wishlist anymore.
I WAS going to get those stands- seeing I could use them as rock props, but no - also a POSER item. lol

Victoria 4 clothing can be converted for use with Genesis, for free if you convert up one generation at a time. Fourth generation character textures can be used on Genesis, or can be used on later figues with add-ons.
I'm going to counter jerk mode by saying: Do not be so quick to write off the older items. There are some really incredible ones in the store. I've grabbed a lot of the RDNA stuff as it's migrated over and some of it is phenomenal. I started a thread here a while back and need to find time to render more of these great products. Sydd's items are in today's offer, and her stuff is excellent.
On my art thread this month, I am exploring some really old stuff. Here's a render I did with V3 and V7, each in their version of the Morphing Fantasy Dress with the Princess of Atlantis Textures. I am shocked at how well some of the older items convert to Iray. The promos simply don't do them justice. I wish more PAs would update their older products- even just the promo pics.
I have that Expressive product - I really love it.
Which stands? There are certain things that WILL work in DS, no problems.

They work perfectly fine in Daz Studio. Just fiddle with the surfaces to get the textures looking better, or use a DS stone shader on them.
Promise? Only if you intend to keep it, and believe you will be able to.
What please is "DAZ Originals Runtime DNA"?
I only found some products as co-work of DAZ Orignals and RDNA. But this is Poser-only. Doubtful how that works for DAZ 4.9.

I'll counter-counter-jerk (grin) by saying that while I do agree in part that some of the older items are STILL useable, and with the use of current shaders can even look pretty damn good....I am very very hesitant nowadays to pay for really really old stuff. Two reasons - occasionally lack of good material zones....and there are the odd products that simply do not work in DS anymore. (there's an old pc product, a set of ruins I think, that simply broke about three versions or so back and apparently cannot be fixed). Also, I'll never say anything bad about Sydd's stuff - she's bloody brilliant and I am in awe of her stuff. I dream of her converting her vanilla sky and monsters for v4 to g3 and iray. :)

And remember, SOME products that are listed as "poser" CAN work in DS. You may have to play with the textures in the surfaces tab to get them looking good in 3delight/iray, but they will load and work correctly. If there are ones you are unsure of, asking here in the forums will have people helping you out.
I did almost nothing to V3 and her dress, just threw an uber shader over her and some OOT shaders on the hair.
Here she is right out of the box with no extra shaders at all. This is Vega for V3 with Amanda Hair and Princess of Atlanstis for MFD. Some of them actually look this good with the default Iray conversion. I really didn't expect that!
Not gonna lie: I was kinda "Ehhhhh" about MM so far, but with Aeon Soul doing anything for males being like a rare unicorn sighting, I'm finally biting on a new non-PC+ new release. lmao.
And honestly, I think the RDNA bonus is pretty neat: there's still people who use Poser and RDNA -before they merged with Daz- used to be one of the big bastions for Poser-related content. I much prefer Daz Studio, so there's really not much worth buying with said bonus in my eyes, but it's nice that they're not leaving Poser users completely out in the cold.
Seems like this one is the highest on trending list Vanilla Sky SSS Stand Alone.
Assuming I have the requirements, anyone know how difficult it would be to get her working in Daz? If it requires a lot of 'playing' in the surfaces tab, I'll probably have to skip it.
I could have sworn I got Vanilla Sky from RDNA when she came out...but I must have been thinking of Sydd's Oxygen.
If you have one of the iray converters by V3digitimes for V4, you could use that.
A while ago I realized that Runtime DNA stuff is kind of like that box shaped like a treasure cheast the dentist brings in after your appointment when you're a kid.
I have a pretty good collection of RDNA stuff from the Christmas Sale when they were giving it away for free.
But... I missed this one, and it is probably worth it for pennies on the dollar - and if I can find a cheap new item that I really want, for free, it is a nice bonus:

Agreed. One of my favourite time-sucks involves finding ancient stuff in my libraries that's really showing it's age, and then giving it a makeover with new shaders. I know where I am with stuff I already own, though - probably purchased cheaply as part of a bundle that contained something else I wanted, or given away as a freebie. I have no interest whatsoever in buying these things as standalone products now, no matter how cheaply, especially with the details on many of the RDNA sales pages being so sketchy. I don't mind putting a bit of work into making my dated content look good, but not enough to want to pay for any more of it.

And I'm with @Llynara - one of the coolest things about old content is taking it and doing something that goes way beyond the original scope of the content. Old items are where you really get a chance to show some artistry with content, rather than just "posing Barbie dolls." Don't overlook what you can do with old content that looks dated. This is the Big Bill truck with Souless Empathy's Canyon Terrain set and even Aiko 3. They're all pretty old content. Leo 7 and some Derby Girl for G3F are probably the newest elements in this scene.
I got more items by putting "runtimedna daz originals" in the search box. Yes, they're all pretty old. RDNA didn't make much for Genesis until right before they merged with DAZ. That said, I love Vanilla SKY. It's a great texture and it can be used on Genesis and Genesis 2 (with the V4 Shape & UV). If you have Anagenessis 2, then you get an awesome iray skin. (This is Genesis but I have absolutely no idea whether it's the default morph or not. I almost always tweak the morphs. It's one of the most fun parts of DS.)
This is one of my favorite expression packs. They work fantistically well with Genevieve 7.

To me, hearing all you gotta do is.....a recipe for disaster and a guarantee I'm going to be starting more threads in Troubleshooting insteade of rendering.
That expressions package is the ultimate find. Works out the box and is immensly helpful toa wide range of my stuff(s).
I'm a happy camper, it just takes a lot (too much?) digging to figure out the best strategy.

This is where you have me. I certainly do think, sometimes, that's how MY render is going to look.
I didn't consider a modern take and what might happen.
Final thing: might have been nice if this deal wasn't a one shot.
But who knows, tomorrow's deal could be crazy.
I think it's a bit unfair to complain about these items. They might not be for you, and much of it is older than a few years and has begun to show it's age, but it's unfair to describe them as not being worth "free" or 90%. I don't get excited about RDNA sales and giveaways because I bought most of what I wanted from them back before I switched away from Poser a few years ago, so the content doesn't really excite me much, but I'm not going to complain about them. Those of us that buy stuff here when it's new often feel the same way when they offer deals on things we've already purchased. You see it every so often when people complain that DAZ is punishing them for being good shoppers, and it really is frustrating. But, it's just folks using the tools at their disposal to improve sales. (in DAZ' defense, they've been doing a lot to reward early adopters with random discounts on certain new items and bundles that relates back to their previous purchases, which is greatly appreciated)
I think my biggest problem is that there is just so much of it, mostly stuff that I don't have a use for but there isn't a way to filter out those items without filtering out the stuff that I don't want to miss (I would love to be able to hide Poser Only stuff, or hide stuff for V4, since I won't buy those at any price, except maybe free). So, after clicking through a few pages, I either just forgo the freebie/incredibly low price in exchange for not spending too much time looking.
Oh, by the way, if you put more than one of those RNDA/DO items in your cart, it breaks the freebie. Both of them end up discounted to 30% (if I remember correctly). I was in the process of swapping my freebie out and didn't pay that close attention to the percent.

On Runtime DNA products, I'm really down to this or Vanilla Sky SSS stand alone. I picked up Ultra Genesis 2/3 over the Christmas sale and the character faces it creates all look a little too weathered and urban for my tastes... but if I was doing a render with down-and-out old drug addicts living downtown, it would be my go-to face morph package for G2F/G3F. :)
And I don't mean that badly, necessarily. If you're looking for more reaslitic, less idealized faces that seem to have a story behind them, the Ultra Genesis face package is probably a good place to start.
But I've heard so much raving about Vanilla Sky SSS that I think I'm going to bite the bullet and pay my $.88 for it. It'll have to be the next RDNA blowout for UltraGenesis Expressions.
