  • thanks Saiyaness for creating afacebook page so we can keep tabs on your work as I mentioned there it is easy to miss product/artists threads here especially if there aren't constant postings and even then

some of these new renders you've done you should post there too and you can create albums for your charcters or themes just like the galleries here it's basiclt the same rules on facebook as it is here

love this one she does look like Michelle Rodrigueze here and her personality love this one so much :)

  • Haha, yes, my Facebook....

I'm not good at the social media thing...you can tell by the four people that watch the page. One of them is my partner. LOL XD (He keeps telling me to use it and flood it with WIP's and renders but....uurghhh)

I'm not comfortable sharing WIP's O_o I don't like sharing half-finished things - or I'll think something is finalized and then I'll change the morph or something :p I think people remember their first view/impression of something and if I change it, it might spoil it for them (or underwhelm!). Anywho :p

Striking image, Joe Webb! And thanks for the workflow mini-tutorial. Nyarai certainly brings something new and unexpected to that outfit.

Thank you xyer0. I love Nyarai Dialectic, it reminds me of a Clockwork Orange Malcolm McDowell, getting ready for a bit of the ultraviolence. That workflow thing is helpful to me when others do it (but not to complicated - I'm not too much of a techi), and it helps remind ME of what I did. I often get an effect I like, and go to recreate it a week later with no idea of what I had done before.

To parrot xyer0, that is a striking image! Amazing work!! That kind of artsy postwork is not my forte, for sure! (I'm so basic...) Really love the colours and drama!

Wow, thank you Saiyaness. Judging from your promo images you don't need artsy postwork :) Those are wonderful.

  • Saiyaness said:

Oh, here's two additional promos I scrapped. I wasn't entirely happy with them, but I'll chuck 'em up here. :p

Please continue making characters! Your characters are one of the best in my opinion, so realistic and different looking :) I hope you make Asian characters as well like different Asians and also other ethnicities :) and oh fantasy races as well? :)

Thank you, guys. I'm using Nyarai as an excuse to binge on renders so I can learn Iray sufficiently before the end of May (which would make it a year since my first render). When I see what you guys do, it encourages me to keep trying so I can understand how it works. Joe Webb, I hadn't thought of a Clockwork Orange; if I had, you can be sure I would've put a right eye black feathered eyelash on her. Come to think of it, there might be another render in that. Don't be stingy sharing your Nyarai artwork.

Full (edited) image for CU (earlier post). My apologies for the dog: At the time it seemed a cute idea....

    She Persisted

Just one more "study" - its a little dark, even on my Mac, so I hope its not too bad on PC (which generally have slightly darker screens than Apple machines). I used the Marshian Light Projection System for a spot, with the default light-to-dark, sunset gobo. Love the colors it gives AND the fact it put that foreground lizardman in a dark zone, to draw attention off of it. But I should have used a better fill light to get details in those shadows.

I guess they all can't be wonderfully colorful like Nyarai 2HotPink2BCool! Great work there!

Man! That's dramatic! I hope you're making a graphic novel, 'cause that is fire. I've been a little (OK, a lot) scared of Marshian Light Projection BECAUSE it was so dark. You make me want to experiment more. Those fire spark thingys are cool too. You have perfectly pictured the way I see Nyarai: Ultimate Badass! And thanks for the compliment. I LOVE BOLD colours, and I used to dress like that until I came to the US with its conservative environment. Now I wear blue, black, and brown. Oh yeah, and gray.

Thanks! The sparks are from some Ron's brushes - I forget which set exactly, with a PS layer style from Ron's Light Fusion. Light Projection can work wonders if you play with the lumins and gobo/gradient applied. I left it at default, which is fine for a larger image but I should have upped the lumins or at least adjusted when the dark section of the gradient fell so that foreground guy isn't so dark. Like any tool you need to know how to use it right :)

I know what you mean about Nyarai - she's not the typical tall, sultry character. She reminds me of an Ultimate Badass too! Right out of Aliens - I should do one in space marine armor. We can't let all that conservatism corrupt you, you should go bold when you can.

Haha! I have a big grin on my face. It's so bright, colourful and busy. *_* Never thought I'd see all my characters in one render! I get frustrated trying to pose one figure! This is crazy. Are you crazy? :p (I think Mahala needs some custom Iray love. Ziva and Svengar tend to convert a lot better. She's showing her age a bit...)

BTW What the hell is Opal doing? Tell that old bag to stop cradle-snatching! And I'm not sure if Jurou is asking for directions or something else, but it looks like he's about to get slapped. XD

Also, it's funny you chucked a kid in there. I'd been thinking of making a kid, Saiya-style, even if Daz doesn't want it. :p And Priya makes a hot mum. XD

Thanks for posting this fun render! *_*

Thanks, Saiyaness. Yes, I'm crazy! If you ever have the time, I hope you will give Mahala your own Iray treatment update 'cause I struggled with her. N.G.S. made her into a tar baby, and when I started messing with the translucency, I was getting poorer and poorer results. She's such a special girl, if you did it, I'm sure I could get her back in rotation. Thanks for all your excellent characters.

I think if you made a child character we would finally have one that was more realistic than stylistic.

Thank you! And thanks to you and your generosity. I forgot to subdivide the car; so, the wheel rims aren't round. My blue lights rendered white, but they cast a magenta light combined with the red. I needed Bend Control for her leg, but I didn't get it until yesterday, and the render was already in progress. I did not achieve the lighting or the look I wanted, but, alas. Thank you again, friend, for getting me started on this road.

Seeing what you have done with her makes it all worth while!

I have an odd request. Could someone post a render or two of close-ups of her feet? I find that feet and hands tend to add a lot of realism if they are done right, but can really take away from realism if not enough detail is added to them.

If one of you guys that bought her could post a render or two of her feet close-up, I'd appreciate it. I want to be pretty sure I'd be happy with her before making the purchase. :)

    Whoa! Amazing detail! :D

    Thank you, xyer0!

I wish they weren't completely identical though. Would have been nice to have a bit of a difference instead of mirroring the feet textures. Ah well, I should be able to make some changes to the texture in Photoshop so that they aren't identical anymore.
