Also, thank you for posting your before/after postwork images. It really helps to see what a pro envisions to make the original render even more amazing. Sometimes--well most of the time--I stare at my render in Photoshop and think "Ok, now what should I do?" blush

Maybe if you ever have some free time you could walk us through a before/after in a Youtube video. No pressure though!

  • Tell you what... next set I make, where I have artsy promos like this set, Ill do one for you guys.

Thank you! You rock (even more than you already do)!!

  • In the meantime, theres some older tuts up on my youtube, under Photoshop... like painting hair and feathered wings and other random things.

Ignis, I'm always mesmerised by your renders, promos and products. They are always so amazingly beautiful.

I've been deciding all day whether to buy Hex Arcanum (what with it being "that time of the year"), and I've (just this second) bought it. I've also bought Phantoms II and, added Nox Aeterna, Battle Cat and, Hex Arcanum Arsenal to my wishlist (although, I know I'll end up adding more when I get the chance to cheeky ).

    Keep up the excellent work

Oh yeah I have the battle cat too.  And just used it yesterday lol

Just purchased the Arsenal - I already have possible uses for the staff and the bow.  Can't wait until I have the time to render with them.

Very cool outfit and lovely artwork. I have sort of stopped buying female content but this is exceptional work. Great job

Thanks you guys!! Sorry Im late getting back in here. I crashed for a bit.

@the3Ddigit - Yeah converting this one would def be difficult. I would totally do it, if there was high enuff demand... unfortunately, the sales on Genesis 2 are a little bit low these days. It seems like most jumped to Gen 3, but she was always my fave of the Genesis figures.

Hi IgnisSerpentus , I love your products I have quiet a few, My favorite is Dark Elves, with the Midnight Huntress outfit., Anyway I too gave this outfit a serious look today I was going to use it for my new release item to get the extra discount. & the renders people are doing look really inspiring. unfortunately I can't use this either because like Wendy it was only supported for genesis 3 and I too pretty much buy content for animation in daz studio. which for now I use generation 4 thru genesis 2.. only because of the laundry list of issues I keep having using Genesis 3. (I know, I know most people don't use daz for animation) Though this would have made a great outfit for one of my foe's in my Karate Girl series of animations, I was afraid  of trying to get this to autofit with "wears them all" & work with g2. Some clothing items I have success with some not so much.      I have not yet invested in Genesis 3 I'm kind of waiting for genesis 4 to come out to see if it breaks compatible with genesis 3 before I go through tons of work of making new type motions files for them,. . I do relies that its not worth the time you have to put into making these products cross compatible with older generations so I'm not complaining. I just wanted to let you know Wendy was not alone in her reasoning.

    Happy Holidays

I would love to see reboots of some of your gen4 sets. Gorgeous work in those, but not always autofit friendly.

  • Thanks guys!

Yeah, the gen 4 stuff really doesnt autofit correctly. Esp with shoes or when it has a skirt or drapey cloths (which is what would particularly make this one not go to G2F) The other issue with doing a G2F conversion, are the poses. They dont convert backwards sadly, and the conversion system I have by Zev and Dragonstorm also doesnt work in the reverse. That puts a serious crimp in being able to do one.

On the converting my gen 4 stuff, yeah, theres possibly a few there Im considering... but feel free to make suggestions of ones youd like to see, too!

I am off to bed, so going MIA for a bit. Any questions Ill get to in the AM.

I love it too... I mean, you can do so much and take something so much further when you postwork. I mean, if youre into rendering it straight out of the box, thats cool too... its all about what makes you happy. Such arguments are akin to proclaiming one medium is superior to another... or like those cats that pick on DAZ Studio artists as being not real artists. In reality, they are just different artforms with different toolsets. No one is less an artist than anyone else.

    And TY Jaki!!!

I love postwork the best too, I ALWAYS do postwork on every image, even if I like the render. Playing with it in Photoshop always makes it so much better. But it seems that no matter what you do, someone is going to call it cheating. CGI purists think it's cheating to use other people's models and do postwork and traditional artists put down digital art altogether. I really like morphing characters and creating expressions, but the posing/lighting/scene building can really frustrate me, and I especially hate the ridiculous amount of time it takes to render with just CPU (Mac.)

Do you sell your art at comic book conventions? I sell mine at some and have even been in LA art galleries but prefer not to tell people how I did it. They look down on people who don't hand draw or paint everything with traditional media which as a child I did; I especially enjoyed making my own paper dolls, kinda like making 2D Victorias!

I ILOVE your renders and products BTW,  just wish they weren't so expensive!

@IgnisSerpentus  Since hopefully you are checking this thread, I have a few questions. I own several of your earlier Poser products and would like to know if the lights can work in DS, either in Iray or 3Delight. I'm still pretty new to DS and never sure what lights work. Also I have your Water to Gold brushes because I thought they looked cool, but wondering if those symbols mean something or if you just made them up. If the symbols have actual meanings, would it be possible to have a translation of their meaning so I don't inadvertently use them the wrong way? If they are made up, even better, I can use them for anything. Thanks :)

  • Iggy this is an amazing set! You kicked ass!!

Hey guys... back for the time being. Ive got a raging cold, so Im up, Im down, Im up, Im down. Its like a fun ride, cept without the fun part.

@jakiblue - So I take it you want Eden's Flame and Nox Aeterna?? LOL

@DireBunny - OMG Look at that gorgeous color! Love that one bunny! Thats my fave out of this set of renders youve done so far.

    @Bluebird 3D - TY Bluey!

@Wonderland - TY for the compliments! To answer your questions, 1: I dont do art coventions or anything like that. I do sell some of it on Zazzle, but art doesnt really sell that great in general, unless youre doing contractual work... which Ive never done... so I focus on content. 2: The prices are up and down really, depending on the size/complexity of a set. I try to have small things, medium things and big things in my store. This one is expensive for a couple reasons... the first being its intentionally designed to be multiple outfits rolled into one set, and the second reason is, it was a HUGE pain in the butt to do that. It had to be modelled carefully, rigged carefully, and morphed in layers. Plus, posing all those cloths took me a fair amount of time too. Normally, I can bang out the poses in a couple days... these took me the better of a week. The entirety took me, for the whole, 3 mos to develop, whereas my average is about about a month... the development time was off the chain. In fact, it was originally targeted to be an October release... and then I added the weapons and extra poses as a second set ala last min. Then, I had to model the dragons, and that all had to be carefully done too, so certain parts would share uv space and material zones. 3: The alchemy brushes are actual alchemy symbols I researched and painted. I honestly dunno how you'd use them tho, coz Im not an alchemist lol I actually could better tell you if they were star signs, as I am an astrologer.

I looked at many of your sets up close yesterday, trying to decide which ones to get. So many are on my wishlsit! I was really impressed with how much you put into them. I don't think people realize that. Sometimes they just look at the price. But wow, there are many that are full outfits, poses, weapons and even included hair. Many are very versatile, and I think between sets, you could mix and match a few things. The prices are more than fair on those. There's a ton of value packed into them. You're actually getting more than one set. Some are not labeled as bundles, but maybe they should be. There are a couple of other PAs that do this and I really appreciate it.

  • Yeah... I have a big problem with keeping stuff small. I start out with good intentions, but then its like I need to add this, that or the other. I guess I make them the way I would want to buy them. Another thing that happens is, after time, you also get locked into expectations. Oh it has a weapon... now its like an automatic requirement to include poses for it (at least on my end, not the DAZ end) Or, oh it has this cloak or a cape with a high collar, which isnt gonna work with many hair sets... maybe I should do some hair for it. Actually, I entertained the idea of doing hair for this one.... but when all was said and done, it took so long to make, I decided not to. If it cant be released with it, no one can use it anyway... and if people can use it without, is there really a need?

Im actually currently considering doing a small outfit set next... no poses or weapons, just an outfit. We'll see how that goes tho, coz I always say that :|

LOL, I'm like that with my writing. My first book took forever and ended up being 160,000 words. It's gotten great reviews, so I must be doing something right, but I think writing it nearly killed me. Like you, I kept adding stuff that I'd want to see in there. I think it's kind of an addiction, you get into creating something and just go nuts with it. It's very hard to stop when you're on a roll!

Personally I really appreciate outfits with a range of options to change things about, and I'll happily pay more for something that does a lot of things and what I actually want. I have seen people complain just about pricetag but I mean there's only so much you can do to make it clear how much is in the product before they're just reacting before really looking into it.
