Postwork for sure (can it really be called postwork when it is the bulk of the picture? lol i think at the point when your on hour 12 of "postwork" then it is just work :D ) oh the toon figures help of coarse, but i think it's the fact that i really suck at building my own shaders. I tried a while back to make my own toon shaders they didn't turn out so well for any practicle purpose, but under a specific light set i made the skin looks like what you see, which i think helps sell the toon look.
Plus i think the use of a spot or distance light set to no shadows coloured blue and turded to point up right under the figure so it back lights it helps too. but yeah probably mostly "postwork"
Resisted yesterday and then blew my budget today. The promos and the work of others is sooo inspiring and it's a gorgeous outfit. With all the morphs, poses and colours well worth the price. I'm a huge fan of postwork as well, but those promos are STUNNING.
^^ LOL werd...
And thanks you guys for the glowing compliments. D'awww... making me dig my toe in the sand and blush like mad
It's a wonderful set. Lots of options, consistency in style and just so damn inspiring. Here's my first attempt:
Like how did you do it? Can you give like a step by step tutorial? :)
The fire are PSD layers from this product - http://www.daz3d.com/rons-explosions - some of them I warped or otherwise moved/blurred to fit into the scene.
Wow beautiful job on this! The render is quite nicely done, and great choice for the enviro too!
Wow! That's fantastic! Love the characters, the DOF, the effects, the lighting. It all comes together beautifully.
Yeah, if you guys are gonna get into doing postwork, I highly recommend grabbing the brushy goodness here: http://www.daz3d.com/deviney He has some great effects that will make your life much easier than having to do it all by hand.
I tried to resist the outfit but then my brother gave me a gift card and The outfit was the FIRST thing in my cart. Now maybe I will have a chance to play with it tonight.
I shan't link it since it's an external site, but if you're interested in 2D resources, design cuts currently has an xmas bundle going - hundreds of dollars worth of fonts, brushes and textures for only $1. Even if you aren't interested in their regular monthly bundles that's a crazy good deal that I'm sure google can lead you to. They're all very high quality and nicely curated, highly recommend for anyone who does 2D work after the rendering stage.
Love Ron's brushes! I think I have most of them. They really do make a huge different in blending the renders and layers.I used them quite a bit on my book cover and was really happy with how everything came out. I really think postwork helps tie everything together.
Ix- thanks, I think I'm on their mailing list, I'll check it out.
@Ix - Awesome... Ill check it out too. Im a brush fiend!
@Zelroth - very cool of him! Hope you'll come back and post your renders
Sorry I am late to the party... first nite of real sleep with having this cold. I crashed and burned lol
Thank you Ignis, I'm so glad you liked it. It's an amazing set, and I don't regret snapping it up immideately one bit.
Thank you, Llynara. When I saw that pose I just knew she had to hold someone's hand and reach out for something magical in the air.
One more:
Very heavy postwork in Picasa, but more towards photography. Photographic filters are one more postwork addiction type one can have.
Oh man, really love that one. I like the sepia tone a lot... it does seem very photographic in nature. Esp with the DOF and the grain. Great job on this one!
Wanted to pop in and show this closeup shot of the dragon's head. it not only shows the detail, but also how the cavity maps look on the models in DS (the dragon eyes are hidden in the render tho)
Chanteur- that's incredible art. Love the photo filters, and also how the flowing hair complements the skirt. The composition really works well. Are the dragons at her command or getting ready to pounce on her? She looks like she might turn on them or command them forward to attack the viewer. Either way, they sure have their eyes on her.
Ignis- love the dragon. Lots of detail there!
I finally got a chance to actually try the full package out and wow - I knew buying it that I liked the outfit(s) and the range of textures, but I didn't realise just how many variations within that there were, or that there was a pose set larger than any normal pose set you see, or or any of the billion other useful things like bones and actually useful morphs etc etc.
I'm stunned.
Ohhh ok i see, yeah, no i'm not really a step by step tutorial kinda bunny. I tried it once, it was more confusing than helpful, Best i can do is tell ya the basic gist of what i did.
I"ve really got to get my butt into gear and play with this! Damn christmas - no time for doing 'me' stuff!!!
I'm waiting for your render Jaki!
I'm getting there, I'm getting there! LOL
although after you and David...I think I want to hide....
I already know it's going to be amazing and I'm going to throw myself to the floor in a fit of jealousy!
Oh alright :) how'd you do it :)
I can see I'm going to be using this for a LOT of kitbashing - it's so versatile!!!!! Also that breastplate has amazing push-up capabilities heh heh
Jaki!! That is absolutely stunning. I love the way you use color... its almost pastel like, in a sort of aged and classic way. I love the wicked critter back there too
And yeah, I put a bunch of breast morphs in this time. This is such a bewbie type outfit, I wanted to make sure it could give a killer rack LOL
Thanks! :)
I love that gargoyle hound! He's really old but I just chucked the iray shader on him and he comes up good. I think if someone made iray mats for him, he'd sell bucketloads again. LOL.
Can you make some breast morphs for Real Life for me too?
I'm getting old and things aren't where they used to be... :D
LOL I wish... if I could do that, Id have some doubledees right now (lol I kid tho... I dont honestly think Id want double D's) What would be seriously cool is if we could add/remove them irl like we can 3D.
That would be great I adore Godspeed, I don't actually have Scorpion God but do love the look of it I would love to see something like it for G3M.
I only picked up the weapons sorry, I'm trying not to buy too much more girl stuff, they are beautifully crafted.
