DOH - I should have looked closer.
The "IG Iray Essentials for V6 and M6" is specifically for those two figures. The store page only lists V6 and M6 and being required, it wouldn't make sense for it to work on Belle 6 and not actually require Belle 6. If you look at the readme, it states "V6 Belle." It actually has V6 as part of her name, so this must be a character related to V6, not Belle 6. There is also "V6 Anna." V6 Anna is lighter skinned than V6 Belle, and that doesn't make any sense if this is supposed to be Belle 6, who had some of the fairest skin of the whole G2 line. I think these are just different preset names that the vender came up with. They probably could have used better names to avoid confusion.
The github link utterly confounds me. What am I looking at??? I click on the Belle 6 link and I get a text file. Am I supposed to copy this and save it as a duf file, or what?
At any rate, Iray Smart Shaders for Genesis 2 solves the need for any specific Iray set for Belle. With all due respect to IG, ISC kind of supersedes Iray Essentials. And it has the bonus of working on the entire Genesis 2 line, male and female. NGS Anagenesis can work, too, though for Belle's skin, I prefer Iray Smart Shader. Maybe just tone down the gloss if using bright light.
That's one way...
Or move up one level (click on Daz-Iray-Shaders in the top line) and then click on the big green button on the right (Clone or Download). There is the option to down a Zip in the box that opens. This zip is ALL the presets and their icons, in the package, not just the one.
It's my experience that things that turn out remarkably well are more often than not achieved by accident.
Having never used github before, that's not even remotely intuitive.
Anyway, I downloaded the whole file. You can never have enough shaders.
An important note for people: the Belle 6 shader from github MUST be applied using CTRL+Mouse, a box will pop up, and under "Maps", change the option to "Ignore". There a lot of people who do not know you can apply shaders this way. If you do not use CTRL on this one, Belle will turn gray!
I'm quite curious to see what differences this may have with other options. So I am going to do a bit of testing and post them here.
Well, I have to say that I saw no difference between the shaders on github versus what the Daz defaults do. Its odd. I saw the change in the textures in the viewport, so I know something happened, but the render itself looks so similar I can't tell any difference. Maybe it has something to do with the 4.9 beta?
I've already made comparisons of Belle's skin in my gallery. I compared several factors, testing not only the default Belle vs ISC and NGS, but also comparing Daz 4.8 to the 4.9 beta. I went ahead and ran new tests. This time I added some lights, to see how much of a difference that could make. That's because of how much of a difference light made to my pic in this thread.
In these test, I still couldn't see much of a difference between the default textures vs the shader from Github. I really don't understand.
However, using ISC and NGS made huge differences. The light hits the skin is a more realistic way. You can see detail in the skin. The default for NGS is still too blue and cold looking, but it is still an improvement, imo. I couple of tweaks to something like SSS will fix that easy. But the Iray Smart Shaders win the day, and by a mile, again, that's just my opinion.
