I'm of the opinion that you should just close the site, do what ya gotta do, and then reopen - all fixed ;). This is beyond frustrating to the people who are trying to BUY stuff here or read the forums, even tho we do like having the site progress updates.

I am pleased that there has been progress for the DIM, but I don't want to install any of my products through the DIM as they will be available through DAZ Connect. I have finally got all of the duplicates removed from my harddrive, the last thing I want is to create more...

It is nice to hear that you are getting closer and I look forward to being able to provide feedback on the speed improvements in the DAZ Connect, once it is fixed.

Thanks for the updates, it really helps to know that there is unseen activity to get thees problems resolved.

I'm still getting that message whenever I try to come to the store or load a new page....unable to load personalized data, something may be lost, etc etc.  And just now I was stuck in that loop where 2 items I purchased earlier today were stuck in my cart and wouldn't let go, and on the main page they were still showing they were in my cart.  Leaving the site and coming back doesn't help.  I just kept trying to refresh the page and it eventually emptied my cart and those items were gone from the main page of the store since I'd purchased them.  Then I come to the forum and get the same message about unable to load personalized data, blah blah.

Also, I don't use DIM.  Never have, never will, so that part of this scenario doesn't matter to me.  I just want the actual store to work properly. I'll download what I purchase myself manually as I always have.

Purchasing hasn't ever been an issue for me personally.  Downloading yes.

I still get the unable to load personalized data error, but it didn't prevent me from making a purchase today. The cart was very slow to process the order, but eventually afer a few minutes it completed the order and my purchases were available in Daz Connect a few minutes later.

    Good news everyone!

The longest stage of the repair has been completed, now the team is working on some smaller stages and I'll let you know as those complete.

Yay! Well done, guys. Thanks for the update :)

DIM isn't working over here at the moment.  I'm also getting intermittent cloud flare errors.

  • DAZ_RawbDAZ_Rawb Posts: 817

Wow, well this is more "fun" than I was expecting.

So the longest stage has completed, and the next stage was just a simple configuration addition (not modifying the existing configuration). This configuration change caused Murphy's Law to hit us hard, because we were expecting that there might be some rough, but controllable, spots with the stage after this one.

Instead, we got the rough spots with this one. So a portion of the repairs is going to happen live, so for the next little while you will see an increase in missed forum/gallery images and then they will breathe back in to life. I will let you all know as it progresses.

Thank you all for being so wonderful and understanding, it has definitely made it possible to share a lot more of the inner workings with you all.

It was completely down for me for about 2 hrs...so hopefully that means the 'longest stage' is now done...or at least well started?

I am just now able to get to the site at all, have been getting 503 and 524 errors all day. Please ask if they will extend today's sale till tomorrow...

Thank you, Rawb, for keeping us posted. Please know that we REALLY appreciate it and it's about a million times better than being kept in the dark (like earlier in the week). I hope this open line of communication and updates continue now and in the future when/if site issues occur. People tend to be a lot more patient and understand when we know that A) we're being heard and B) people are working hard to get the site working well again.

Thank you -and please let the team know that we appreciate the hard work and being kept in the loop.

Well, at least you were expecting the enigmatic Mr. Murphy to show his ugly mug; that he picked a different stage to arrive is not your fault. Hopefully that's the only time he shows up the rest of the system repair/update.

Possibly related to the "fun" DAZ_Rawb mentioned upthread, when I logged in tonight I had two brief (just a few minutes each) periods of 503 errors within half an hour. No CloudFlare errors — I thought we were supposed to get a CloudFlare alert whenever anything happened to the connection all the way through to DAZ?

When I went onto the forums a bit later, I did get a CloudFlare "not a live page" alert, but it went away when I refreshed the page. I've also been seeing a lot more of these "unable to load personalized data" errors tonight than I usually do.

Also, on the store front, I'm seeing way too many of either black swirlies or collapsed blank boxes in place of product thumbnails. Not a good thing to have in the middle of a sale. Some go away when I refresh the page or go to some other page then come back, but some I just have to wait until they suddenly start working.

  • Everything seems to have improved on my end except for the galleries which are not displaying renders.

The forum itself seems to be working ok for me - the store is another story....very VERY slow to load pages, and the same with putting stuff into the cart (i'm not checking out, just checking prices). Good to hear it's being worked on still and that DAZ_Rawb is still updating us.

Looks like the response times for the store are holding steady around the 10 second mark, and coming down. This is a bad response time, but since we were forced in to doing steps four, five and six at the same time, I think we can deal with it for a bit.

A bunch of images will be missing on the storefront, gallery and forums until we can get the most recent changes copied up. This is expected because the computers decided that our plan which didn't involve any of these troubles wasn't the plan it wanted, so here we are with the new plan. We had a great plan on how to do this without causing any of you any grief other than some slowdown of the site in general, but good old Murphy and his Law overruled our plan.

So now we are prioritizing what gets copied up from the recently changed files, you should see the store images first (very important to see what you are buying before you decide to buy), then DIM and manual downloads (so you can get your content), then Daz Connect (lots of small files slow down the process, so even though the usage on it is high, it's faster to fix the other things first), and finally galleries and forums.

I'll probably back off of the updates for a bit tonight, seeing as that it is my anniversary and as the recently changed files get copied over to the improved backend storage it should be pretty visible for all of you without having to read my long and drawn out explanations as to what is going on.

Thank you all for reading along!

Happy Anniversary to you guys DAZ_Rawb (boy o boy you should really be at home and not here at work LOL) and thanks for the updates!

To DAZ_Rawb: You probibly need a break anyway...

Thanks for the information, it is always fun to watch Murphy play with people. LOL

Just kidding, I have been were you are and it is not funny until it is over... Then it is halarious! The source of many "tales of woe" that keep people laughing for hours.

    Happy Anniversary!

Been there, done that, have the scars to prove it. You have my sympathy, condolances, and appreciation.

ah - and remember - Murphy was an optimist.

  • My five outstanding DIM downloads that had been failing have all been resolved now.
